THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS @ THIRD EYE COMICS!

Available at Third Eye this week,

BATMAN 681 CONCLUDES BATMAN RIP THIS WEEK!

The anxiously anticipated conclusion to BATMAN: R.I.P will be hitting our shelves this Wednesday, and we're completely pumped for it! Are they going to really kill off the Dark Knight? Who's going to take on the cowl? Only one way to find out, and that's by popping in and grabbing BATMAN 681! BATMAN RIP has definitely been an interesting story arc filled with twists and turns, and of course, Grant Morrison's trademark royal head-screw treatment! Add in the fact that Tony Daniels's pencils have been top notch, and it definitely makes this one a big read for Bat-fans. While we can't say that we've been completely won over by all the tie-ins of this event, we will say that the core Batman book that RIP has been running through, has been fantastic. Now, I better stop myself before I start geeking out about the origins of Zurr-Enn-Arrh, and more. Click here to read more about BATMAN 681 *RIP*

LADY BULLSEYE CHAPTER 3 ARRIVES IN THE PAGES OF DAREDEVIL 113!

Hot damn! When's the last time that Daredevil was this good? Brubaker (writer of Captain America, CRIMINAL, and more) has definitely hit his stride on the series, and with Lady Bullseye, has given us one of the best DD story arcs since back when Bendis was still on the book (and we all know how much I love my Bendis DD run!). Brubaker has taken a concept seen popular in a lot of Japanese cinema, the wronged woman coming into her own as a silent tool of death and destruction, and really turned it on it's head. Lady Bullseye is on a mission to take out Daredevil, Iron Fist, and the Black Tarantula, from a mysterious samurai-esque boss figure. As the story has continued, secrets of her past slowly unravel, and we learn more about her and why she chose to take on the identity of Bullseye. And if you're not reading it yet, do yourself a favor and grab the first two chapters which we still have in stock here at Third Eye. It's guaranteed good stuff! Click here to read a preview of DAREDEVIL 113 LADY BULLSEYE CHAPTER 3!

UMBRELLA ACADEMY: DALLAS 1 DEBUTS THIS WEEK!

Now, while your's truly isn't exactly a My Chemical Romance big-time fan here, I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed Gerard Way's kooky Umbrella Academy miniseries from last year. I mean, usually when a celebrity is brought in to do a comic, and his name isn't Kevin Smith, it's... not good. I was all set to hate the Umbrella Academy last year, expecting it to be just another lame attempt to cash in on a famous name by a publisher, but, man, they proved me wrong! The Umbrella Academy's trippy take on the superhero genre was a great read, and a definite read for fans of things like Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol, and quirky superhero books like the Astounding Wolf-Man. Well, this week, the follow-up, UMBRELLA ACADEMY: DALLAS, hits the shelves. Here's a link to a trailer that Dark Horse made to promote the book, give it a look!

SECRET INVASION INHUMANS 4 SETS UP FOR A WAR OF KINGS!

Some of the best tie-ins from Secret Invasion, have been the Inhumans, X-Men, and Thor books. These little miniseries have delivered the goods on a consistent basis, and now this week, we get to see the wrap up of Inhumans and X-Men. The one to really watch is the SECRET INVASION INHUMANS miniseries which is setting the stage big time for 2009's highly anticipated WAR OF KINGS event. Read more about @ SECRET INVASION INHUMANS 4. And of course, also wrapping up this week, we've got the SECRET INVASION X-MEN mini-series, which concludes with SECRET INVASION X-MEN 4, and you can read more about it @ SECRET INVASION X-MEN 4!

SUPERMAN NEW KRYPTON CHAPTER 6 DROPS IN SUPERMAN 682 THIS WEEK!

New Krypton keeps rolling with this week's Superman 682, which is Chapter 6. New Krypton has been blowing us away week after week, and it's great to see the Superman books return to being a popular title. Geoff Johns, the man who can do no wrong in the DCU, has been masterminding an amazing storyline with New Krypton. And this week, you can get your weekly fix in SUPERMAN 682! Click here to read more about Superman 682!

GARTH ENNIS (WRITER OF THE BOYS) BRINGS US THE SECOND INSTALLMENT OF HIS BATTLEFIELDS SERIES!

Garth Ennis is one of our big favorites here at Third Eye. We love the Boys, speak in hushed tones of respect in regards to Preacher, and hold his PUNISHER MAX series up as the definitive Punisher story. But, where does Ennis really come into his own? He loves to write war comics, and the man can write a WICKED war comic. The first issue of Battlefields Night Witches really surprised us, and won us over, and we can't wait for this week's second installment. Click here to read a preview of NIGHT WITCHES 2!

MATT FRACTION'S THIRD AND FINAL THOR ONE-SHOT.. MAN OF WAR.. HITS THE SHELVES THIS WEEK!

Matt Fraction has delivered us two consistently awesome Thor one-shots so far, and now this week, we get the third of his bloody viking epics with THOR: MAN OF WAR! This is the third and final installment of Fraction's Thor rebelling against Odin one-shots! You're not going to want to miss this one, folks! Click here for a preview of THOR: MAN OF WAR!

15 Billion Reasons Why You Should Read Criminal!

    1. Self-contained stories that share the same landscape and backdrop, which means you can jump on with any story arc, but still get a sense of a shared world by reading the entire series.

    2. Amazing artwork by Sean Phillips that pulls you so far into the story, you come out smoking like a $6 bottle of brandy, and cigarettes.

    3. Characterization so well-done that you're familiar with a character by the second page of their introduction.

    4. $3.50, NO ADS, and tons of extra content in the back, including all sorts of different personalities talking about their favorite aspects of genre fiction.

    5. THE best crime storytelling being done right now in comics, flat out.

    6. The perfect fusion of story and art. Brubaker and Phillips pour every ounce of themselves into every issue, and it's obvious. When a book has that much heart and soul in it, every page becomes enjoyable.

    7. Bleak, noir storytelling that you can't find too many places these days.

    8. It's only a $3.50 investment to try out the first issue of the current story arc, Bad Night, what've you got to lose?

I could keep going on, and on, about how much I enjoy this series, but I won't. I just want to see it keep doing well, and so far, we've been having more and more people jump onboard with it, so stop waiting around, and give it a shot.

THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS @ THIRD EYE COMICS!

WOLVERINE 69 - OLD MAN LOGAN CHAPTER 4!!

This is the one that EVERYONE has been waiting for. The hottest storyline of this year, without a doubt, has been Mark Millar and Steve McNiven's Old Man Logan saga. Spanning across three Marvel books (the recently concluded Marvel 1985, and Fantastic Four), this storyline has taken our imaginations by storm. By now, most of you have read 1985 6, and while it didn't play out how I expected (without giving away any spoilers here), it looks like something has been set in place within the Marvel Universe that will play into the events of Old Man Logan. Millar has said all three books will be connecting, and hot dammit, we're dying to see what his masterplan is here! So, the wait is over... you can come in here on Wednesday, and rest assured, knowing that the fourth installment of Old Man Logan will be waiting for you! It's been almost two months, but something tells me the wait'll have been very much worth it. Every issue of this series just gets better! For those of you who haven't started reading Old Man Logan, you're probably wondering just what the heck I'm talking about. Here it is in a nutshell: post-apocalyptic wasteland of a future, 95% of the Marvel superheroes are DEAD, Wolverine hasn't popped his claws in many years, and lives a life of peace, Hawkeye is 80 years old, blind, and completely badass, the Hulk and She-Hulk's inbred grandchildren control the West Coast, Dr Doom controls the majority of the country, and there's all sorts of mysterious clues leading us to wonder just what the hell happened on "The Night the Heroes Fell". Fantastic artwork from Civil War artist Steve McNiven, and of course, a well-crafted story by MARK MILLAR (writer of KICK-ASS, The ULTIMATES, WANTED, and more). If you're not already reading this one, then get in here and check it out!As for the rest of you, I'm sure I'll see a lot of you here on Wednesday for this highly anticipated chapter of what's been Third Eye's favorite event of 2008. From what Marvel's site is saying, we're going to learn just who the knew President of the United States is! Click here for a preview of Wolverine 69 *OLD MAN LOGAN*!

KEVIN SMITH (director of CLERKS, MALLRATS, ZACH AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO AND MORE!)DEBUTS NEW BATMAN SERIES WITH THIS WEEK'S BATMAN: CACOPHONY 1!

Between Old Man Logan, and this one, the top of your must-buy list is going to be duking it out. Director, and all-around geek god, Kevin Smith, has a brand new BATMAN two part miniseries coming out this Wednesday. This one is going to be a must-buy for most, whether you're a Batman fan or not! You know why? Cause it's Kevin friggin Smith! And don't worry... it's been promised to us that 2 is already in the can, so this will be a series of his that will actually finish! Anyways, this new in-continuity Batman story by Smith brings the return of his Omonopea (did I spell that right?) character that was ultra-popular in his Green Arrow run a few years back. This two-part miniseries promises the likes of Deadshot, Maxie Zeus (where'd he dig him up?!), and of course, the Joker! There's all sorts of craziness happening in the regular Bat-books right now, so why not enjoy a self-contained story that takes place outside of the events of RIP? Be sure to give this one a look this Wednesday, and don't miss out! Click here to read the preview featured on this week's MySpace Comic Books page!

JSA KINGDOM COME SUPERMAN SPECIAL BRINGS ALEX ROSS'S RETURN TO DOING AN ENTIRE COMIC!

Now, we've already told you guys how good Geoff Johns AWESOME JSA story arc has been, so we don't even need to get into all that. The reason we're spotlighting this one is because it's a true rarity. Alex Ross doing a full issue of interior art! Sure, there's plenty of Ross covers, or "conceptualized by Alex Ross", and yadda yadda yadda, but, to see this legendary creator actually do an entire issue? It's a definitely a big deal. And, hold on, it gets sweeter.. it's Alex Ross returning to the characters and concepts of the Kingdom Come universe (which have been playing out in the pages of Johns JSA run so far)! We all know that one of the coolest visuals to come out of the legendary Kingdom Come (which if you haven't read yet... do yourself a favor, and grab the trade paperback next time you're in here) was Ross's iconic aged Superman. Just click here to get a look at more about what we're talking about!

CITY OF DUST 2 BRINGS THE NEXT PART OF THIS GREAT NEW INDEPENDENT SERIES!

The comic industry has grown so much, it seems like EVERYONE publishing a book. Due to this, sometimes we as fans, tend to get overwhelmed, and overlook certain books. But, when you find that hidden gem that almost slipped through the cracks, and it blows you away... then you know you've gotta get out there and spread the word. City Of Dust has been such a book. The first issue came out, and I picked it up out because I tend to like most of what Steve Niles does... but, geez, I didn't expect to get such a great book. The artwork was top notch, the production quality was aces, and the story hooked me in hardcore! Here's a little background on City Of Dust... it's set in a very Blade Runner-esque future, where all fiction, religion, literature, ect... it's all outlawed, and classified as mind crimes. Books have been missing for the last few decades. The main character, a law enforcement agent in this future, ironically enough got his own father arrested for re-telling the story of the Tortoise and the Hare at school. He's been investigating a series of grisly dismemberments, and then... well, I don't want to ruin the end of the first issue for you.All I will say about the book, and the general concept is: How does a society without folklore, or mythology combat creatures of folklore and mythology? How do you know silver takes out werewolves, and stake through the hearts put down vampires? Yeah.. this one is good. Check it out! Click here for a preview of City of Dust 2!

ACTION COMICS 871 CONTINUES SUPERMAN NEW KRYPTON WITH CHAPTER 4!

If it seems like we're a bunch of Geoff Johns fanboys here at Third Eye... well, we are. The man is single-handedly making sure that the DC Universe keeps us coming back with compelling reads month after month. I mean, how long has it been since people have really been INTO the Superman comics? Forever, right? And now, with his awesome Legion of Superheroes, Last Son, and Braniac story arcs... Johns has gotten us hooked! The big epic event is happening now with New Krypton, and this week, we get to see the fourth installment of the New Krypton saga!
