"JOKER" GRAPHIC NOVEL DEBUTS THIS WEDNESDAY 10/29/08!

"Joker" HC DEBUTS THIS WEEK, SET TO BECOME THE KILLING JOKE OF THIS GENERATION!

One of the most anticipated new projects of this year is Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo's(the writer behind 100 Bullets, and the creative team behind the critically acclaimed LEX LUTHOR: MAN OF STEEL miniseries)"Joker" hardcover. In the wake of the Dark Knight, and all the amazing positive response that film has generated, we are a generation that is starving for our definitive Joker story. It seems every so often, there comes a time where the Joker is reinvented for the comic books, whether it's the change from original creator, Jerry Robinson's "Man Who Laughs"-inspired ghoul into the campier Caeser Romero-influenced Joker of the '60s, and early '70s, or the shift from the Super Friends suit-tails Joker into the cold-blooded psychopath portrayed by Alan Moore and Brian Bolland in the Killing Joke. It seems like we've kind of had the same Joker all throughout the '90s, and into this decade, and then Heath Ledger's portrayal totally changed the flow of things once again. And now, we have a story to compliment that.

The simply titled, Joker, hardcover is an original graphic novel that promises to deliver a gritty, dark story very much in tune with the tone of the Joker's portrayal in the Dark Knight, while still adding an all new original and refreshing take on the character. The basic plot is the Joker has come out of Arkham after another stint, to find his city taken over by the Mafia, and other masked freaks... the story then turns into the Joker's one-man war to reclaim his rightful throne as the ruler of Gotham's underbelly.

Do yourselves a favor, and scoop this one up. Stories like these only come along once every so often. Click here to read more about the Joker graphic novel.
