Arch-Angel Assembles the X-Hit Squad to Assassinate APOCALYPSE!

THIS COMIC IS AWESOME. Okay, now that that's out of my system I can give you guys the skinny on Uncanny X-Force, and of course, our big UNCANNY X-FORCE Launch Day celebration!
I know, I know, I'm often easily excited about good comics, but I seriously have not been this pumped about a new Marvel series in a long time. Ever since the creative team of Rick Remender (FEAR AGENT, PUNISHER) and Jerome Opena (FEAR AGENT, VENGEANCE OF MOON KNIGHT, PUNISHER) was announced, I've been looking forward to this one. Hell, even the new X-Force costumes are kick-ass.

So, what's the skinny? Uncanny X-Force is a brand new series that replaces the former X-Force title. It's a brand new storyline, with a fresh jumping on point, and whether you're a long-time X-Fan, or you've never picked up an X-Force book in your life, you can jump into this one.

The driving plot behind X-Force is simple: Arch-Angel has assembled the covert ops "X-Team That Kills" To Assassinate APOCALYPSE.

Yes, the classic X-Villain has returned, and this time, he's been reincarnated in the body of a child.. and Warren Worthington (Arch Angel), the X-Man with the biggest axe to grind with ol' Blue-Lips, has decided he needs to die. And, this is where X-Force comes in. See, X-Force, was reinvented a few years back as the extreme response team of X-Men. Basically, Cyclops hand-picked a team of X-Men that would do the dirty work. The X-Men that kill. And now, Arch-Angel has picked up the reigns of this team, and along with Wolverine, the two have assembled a team of experts for a very special mission: Kill Apocalypse and his New Horsemen.

The roster consists of Psylocke (awesome), Deadpool (the freshest we've seen him in a while, his lines are great), Fantomex (the surprise star here, hasn't been this cool since Grant Morrison first introduced him), Wolverine, and of course, Arch-Angel.

And, Apocalypse, who's recently been re-incarnated in the body of a child, is their number one target.

Now, I can tell you guys, I've read the first issue in full, as Marvel was cool enough to send us one of those rare yet nifty advance copies, and I gotta tell you: it's fantastic. The artwork from Opena is some of the best I've seen, and I have to tell you, I knew this guy would be a breakout star when I first saw him on the Dark Reign Punisher stuff a couple years ago. His style has come even further since those days, and is one of the most stylized, action-packed, and dynamic looking art styles in books today.

As for the story, it's top notch. This book is going to blow Remender and Opena up big time, as the two compliment each other perfectly and bring their A game in a big way. The dialogue is razor sharp, and characters like Deadpool and Wolverine are fresh all over again. Throw in the coolest portrayal of Fantomex since Grant Morrison introduced him, and a great treatment of fan favorite Psylocke, and you've got a great handle on this new team.

The action sequences are out of this world, and the New Four Horsemen, while we're really only shown one, WAR, are awesome. War reminds you of something out of the God of War games, and is freakin' ridiculously cool.

The book reads fantastic, with a great pacing, and breakneck speed to it, and ends with the perfect cliffhanger to leave you wanting more.

If you're going to be reading any of the new X-Books, then you have gotta check this series out. I honestly cannot give it enough praise, as it is the definition of a fresh, new approach to a Marvel team book.

METALOCALYPSE: DETHKLOK #1 *THIRD EYE CERTIFIED COOL* BRINGS THE BRUTALITY OF ADULT SWIM'S DEATH METAL SCREW-UPS TO DARK HORSE COMICS THIS WEDNESDAY!

What more can be said about this one than the obvious? It's gonna be brutal. We've all got a soft spot here at Third Eye for the Dethklok crew, and the show Metalocalypse, so when we heard Dark Horse was putting out a freakin' Metalocalypse comic being written by the creator of the show, Brendon Small, we totally geeked out. I mean, our love of irreverent late night humor, ultra-violence, extreme music, and comics all in one package? Hell, if you could somehow manage to squeeze caffeine in there, it'd literally be the perfect thing ever.

But, seriously, this one should be a lotta fun. After a bunch of sponsorship deals go sour, Dethklok decides to launch a line of frozen meals to relcaim their thrones. But, there's a top secret illuminati group, and their own incompetence standing in the way of success.

How can this not be awesome? We cannot wait to check it out this week, and it looks like it should be a blast.

WOLVERINE #2 *WOLVERINE GOES TO HELL CHAPTER 2* - The hottest Wolverine story since OLD MAN LOGAN continues this Wednesday!
Imagine if WOLVERINE was one of THE CROSSED from CROSSED!
Missed issue #1? We've still got copies available to catch you up.

The first issue of the new WOLVERINE ongoing series debuted with a lot of anticipation, and it totally lived up to every single bit of the hype.

The creative team of Jason Aaron and Renato Guedes did a fantastic job of delivering an accessible first issue, and a great spot for anyone who's been wanting to get into WOLVERINE to jump on. They also totally kicked ass in giving us a fresh new story, and one of the coolest spins on Wolverine we've seen in a while.

The hook? Well, you know that healing factor Wolverine has? Yeah, it kinda makes it hard for him to die. So, when his soul is literally plucked from his body in a mysterious way that looks to be explored more in this week's issue, well, what happens to that living, breathing Wolverine body?

It gets possessed by a legion of demons who're intent on using it to cause as much pain, and misery as they can think of. Heck, imagine CROSSED if Wolverine was one of the CROSSED.

The first issue showed us a demonic Wolverine gutting his old friend, John Wraith, spitting acid and fire on a church, and bringing all sense of plague and turmoil down on humanity. We also saw how Logan's soul has been dragged down deep below, and now, in this week's issue #2, it looks like we're going to see what everyone's been waiting for: every single Wolverine villain he's ever killed over the years is waiting in hell for Logan, and now, well, now he's gonna be face to face with them all. Including Sabretooth!

As for who could actually stop the demon-possessed Wolverine on Earth? Well, it looks like Mystique might end up getting in his way, but is she gonna be able to survive that?

This series is off to a great start, and totally captures the early days of the original Wolverine ongoing series. It reminds me A LOT of the highly underrated Larry Hama run on Wolverine, and I think that's kinda cool.

DC COMICS PRESENTS debuts this WEDNESDAY, DELIVERING AFFORDABLE TRADE PAPERBACK COLLECTIONS OF CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED and LONG OUT OF PRINT DC STORIES FOR ONLY $7.99!
This Week: Warren Ellis's JACK CROSS, and the classic Kyle Rayner Green Lantern / Jade arc!

greenlanterndcpresents
So, DC has got something cool they're unleashing on us this Wednesday. DC COMICS PRESENTS, a special line of value priced graphic novels that collect 3-4 issues of long out of print yet critically acclaimed and fan-favorite story arcs.

My opinion? This is a fantastic idea. First off, there's way too much good material out of print, and it's always the worst feeling in the world to have someone ask about a really cool story and not be able to show them where they can read it. Also, there's a lot of stories that I personally either have lost track of, or remember reading but lost somewhere along the way, and now wish I had again. A prime example of this is the DC COMICS PRESENTS GREEN LANTERN that's coming out this Wednesday.

So, lets start by talking about DC COMICS PRESENTS GREEN LANTERN. Now, I started reading comics right around the time that everybody else stopped. Yup. 1994/1995. My fandom was born in the ashes of the great comic crash that came from all that Death of Superman and Spider-man #1 speculation. And, while this was a tough time to be a fan (print runs were low, good shops were hard to find), it was also a good time to be a fan because the level of creative output shot up dramatically after the big comic crash. DC in particular was doing some very cool stuff then.

Anyways, long story short: Kyle Rayner was MY Green Lantern. You guys know what I'm talking about. You grow up with a character, and it's hard to not see them as that character. Hal is great, but I grew up with Kyle, and I've got many fond memories of great Ron Marz, Judd Winick and Daryl Banks stories featuring Rayner.

One of these story arcs was the killer yet touching story arc that showed the developing relationship between Jade (the recently returned daughter of Alan Scott) and Kyle Rayner. This arc took place during GREEN LANTERN #137-#140, and has long been a major pain in the ass to find.

Now, DC is offering the entire 4 issue story arc as one of their $7.99 DC COMICS PRESENTS graphic novels.

If you're a DC Comics fan, or a GREEN LANTERN fan, this is a great, self-contained, and very accessible story that I highly recommend. It also carries a certain gravity to it now that Jade has recently returned to the scene. And, for only $8, you're getting a full four issue trade, how sweet is that?

Warren Ellis's One-Man Anti-Terrorist Unit Finally Gets His Due in DC COMICS PRESENTS JACK CROSS

And, now here's ANOTHER great out of print story that I am stoked to see getting put back into circulation. You guys already know how big of fans we are of WARREN ELLIS here at Third Eye, right? I mean, from his ground-breaking TRANSMETROPOLITAN series, to his more recent work like IGNITION CITY and CAPTAIN SWING, the man is just comics magic, up and down, no doubt about it.

And, this is why we're pumped to see the DC COMICS PRESENTS JACK CROSS that's going to be hitting this Wednesday. This little gem collects the entire four issue JACK CROSS mini-series which focuses on Ellis's one-man Anti-Terrorist unit, and just how much of an ultra-violent badass Jack Cross is. Jack Cross is, essentially, a freelance gun-for-hire anti-terrorist who is brought in when things go horribly, horribly wrong. He's also an active social liberal who takes place in anti-war demonstrations, and is often very conflicted about his line of work.

If you like Ellis, and his brand of ultra-violent, over-the-top action, then JACK CROSS is a must-read. And, at $7.99 for the entier 4-issue mini-series collected here, it really is a good deal too.

CHAOS WAR #1 *THIRD EYE MUST BUY* - Bigger than the INFINITY GAUNTLET, More cosmic than ANNIHILATION, hundreds of dead Marvel characters will rise, and the Marvel Universe itself Will Be Ripped Asunder!
Thor! Galactus! The Silver Surfer! Captain Marvel? Warlord? Hellstorm!

It's God versus God as Marvel kicks off the CHAOS WAR this Wednesday. Yes, this one looks to be on par with those universe-shattering, and Marvel Universe uniting events like the INFINITY GAUNTLET, ANNIHILATION, and more. Spanning the entire breadth of the Marvel Universe, it looks like tons of Marvel heroes, some of which we haven't seen in a while, will be brought into the melee of the CHAOS WAR.

And, Third Eye Faithful, you know us, we're a sucker for a good Marvel throwdown, and this one looks to be one of the biggest Marvel vs. Marvel throwdown in a longtime.

So, WHAT is the CHAOS WAR? Well, in a sense, it's the resurrection of MANY dead Marvel characters. That seems to be one of the big things, but it's like they said in Pet Semetary: sometime's dead is bettaaaaa. Seriously though, ever since the conclusion of SECRET INVASION, the CHAOS KING, has amassed his army of alien slave gods -- and now the time to strike Earth has arrived. It's up to the greatest Marvel heroes, led by the recently returned HERCULES (and could the God Squad be far behind?) to fend him off. But, can the likes of Thor, Hercules, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and others withstand the greatest threat the Marvel U's seen: a mad god who seeks to destroy Reality itself?

Chaos War is a five-issue mini-series, with some pretty kick-ass looking tie-in issues, and it looks like it's gonna deliver a pretty badass read. I mean, the comparisons to BLACKEST NIGHT are definitely there, but who can argue with crazy zombied out Marvel heroes, or at least, that's what it looks like we'll be seeing with the onslaught of resurrections. Plus, the term CHAOS KING is awesome, in and of itself.

We can expect to see the reformation of the God Squad, consisting of Hercules, Thor, Amadeus Cho, Sersi, Hellstorm, Venus, Galactus (!!!), and The Silver Surfer.

And, of course, Mikaboshi, the demonic god of evil, who is only known as the CHAOS KING.

These are some of the names you can expect to turn up in the upcoming CHAOS WAR. This one looks to be pretty freakin' awesome, and with PLANET HULK writer Greg Pak handling the writing chores, it should be great. A true cosmic odyssey in the vein of the classic Bob Layton Hercules stuff, and all that great Jim Starlin stuff but with a modern twist. Loads of cameos, tons of Marvel characters, and everything from the Celestials to the Eternals and beyond will be popping up here.

On a side-note, this is probably going to be Torma's pick of the week every week for the next 3 months, so if you've got any questions about the CHAOS WAR, you should definitely pick his brain.

Want to add the entire cross-over and its tie-ins to your subscription box? Feel free to shoot me an email, and we'll make sure you get all the associated chapters and tie-ins.

ALAN MOORE'S NEONOMICON #2 *THIRD EYE MUST BUY* - More horrifying than
CROSSED, NEMESIS, and THE BOYS tap-dancing on a landmine - Alan Moore delivers pure Cthulhu nastiness with this new series!

Okay, folks, it's here. The second issue of Alan Moore's infamous, and horrific new AVATAR series where he takes the mythology of HP LOVECRAFT and CTHUHLU and brings it screaming bloody terror into the 21st century. If you thought NEMESIS #3 was over-the-top, and if you think that CROSSED is straight for the throat, then you need to read this week's NEONOMICON #2.

It doesn't get any more in your face than this. Alan Moore is delivering some straight up Lord Horror madness here, and lets face it: Alan Moore's a pretty out there dude. He lives in a castle. He writes some great comics. He's a wizard. He writes some amazing comics. He's Alan Moore. And, when Alan Moore does Lovecraft, well, it's as close as you're going to get to staring into the Mouth of Madness, folks.

Anyways, NEONOMICON centers around an FBI team investigating a spree of grisly murders that began at the end of Moore's graphic novella THE COURTYARD (available now at Third Eye Comics). The story itself is a brilliant deconstruction and modernization of the H.P. Lovecraft world as only Alan Moore could do it. And, folks, I gotta tell you: Lovecraft channeled through Alan Moore is some seriously dark, disturbing, and mind-warping stuff. Whether you've read The Courtyard or not, you'll find yourself digging this one if you're already into stuff like CROSSED, or THE WALKING DEAD.

So, basically, in a nutshell: it's 21st Century Cthulhu via Alan Moore. And it's toying around with reality and fiction, and how certain individuals spread out throughout the U.S believe that Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos are genuine, and real. And, of course, there's the starfish-masked death cults that worship The Deep Ones.

How can this NOT be awesome? And issue #1 totally proved to us just how intense this series is going to be. Now, this week, issue #2 completely blows everything out of the water, and turns it all up a notch. And, what better time for this to arrive than the first week of October?

I've read some preview pages of issue #2, and the whole thing has got me on the edge of my seat waiting for the full issue this week. Fantastic stuff, and if you want a good horror read, then this series is it.

Missed NEONOMICON #1? We've got copies in stock to catch you up.

Wanna read THE COURTYARD and see what happened prior to NEONOMICON? We'll have plenty in stock this week to catch you up.

DEADPOOLMAX #1 *THIRD EYE MUST BUY* - Finally, a new DEADPOOL book that kicks ass! In the vein of PUNISHERMAX, CROSSED writer DAVID LAPHAM kicks off the new DEADPOOLMAX series bringing a fresh, violent and NC-17 slant to the Merc With a Mouth!

Okay, guys, I'll be the first one to admit that there's too many Deadpool books out right now. I mean, I love ol' Wade Wilson, but DAMN, there's a lotta Deadpool on my racks. :)

However, I really think that any of you who have even the slightest interest, or affinity for the Merc With a Mouth should check out DEADPOOLMAX #1 this Wednesday. Why? 'Cause not since the launch of the current ongoing Deadpool series have I been this excited about the Merc with a Mouth. It's a fresh, and inventive new series that really works for the character.

Now, what is different about DEADPOOLMAX from all the other Deadpool titles? Well, the MAX addition to the title signifies that it's a Marvel MAX book, which basically means it's self-contained, in it's own continuity, and takes place outside of the normal and proper Marvel Universe. This also means that it's a MATURE READERS only book, and is packed to the gills with over-the-top sex and violence.

Now, you can probably already see why this would work perfectly for Deadpool. Much like the MAX imprint allows for a grittier, more harrowing take on a character like THE PUNISHER, this one should allow for us to really see some interesting stuff done with the Deadpool character and his world.

Secondly, it's being written by DAVID LAPHAM, the man behind CROSSED FAMILY VALUES, and if you've read CROSSED FAMILY VALUES, then you know that he can deliver some truly demented stuff.

Toss in the fact that the legendary Kyle Baker is handling the art chores (and dude, Kyle Baker rocks, his style is perfect for ol' Deadpool), and you've got yourself a pretty cool read here.

The plot? Well, whenever there's a problem that's bigger than any government, special ops team, or CIA smart bomb can solve, they call in the one man crazy enough to solve it: Deadpool. Mobster Hammerhead has amassed the world's most powerful criminal organization, and it's up to ol' Deadpool to go undercover to bring the whole thing tumbling down. Of course, no Deadpool story's complete without Agent Bob.

Folks, this one should rock, even if you're like me, and have seen enough Deadpool to last you a life time, give it a shot.

ULTIMATE COMICS THOR #1 *THIRD EYE MUST BUY* - JONATHAN HICKMAN (SHIELD, FANTASTIC FOUR, SECRET WARRIORS, NIGHTLY NEWS) and SUPERSTAR ARTIST CARLOS PACHECO
SO STOKED FOR Hickman's ULTIMATE THOR, it's not even funny! Seriously though, it's been a while since an Ultimate title has gotten me this pumped, but Jonathan Hickman doing Thor? Incredible, and amazing, and awesome all in one. Add in the fantastic artwork of Carlos Pacheco, and you have a recipe for an all-star caliber book here.

Most of you are already familiar with the Ultimate imprint, and how it provides Marvel a way of telling killer, cutting edge stories contained within the Ultimate line of titles. And, while we know there's been a lot of new Thor stuff hitting, we have to tell you that ULTIMATE THOR definitely deserves notice here.

Why? It's Jonathan freakin' Hickman. He's one of the best comic writers working today, and he's been wowing us with his runs on stuff like FANTASTIC FOUR, SECRET WARRIORS, and SHIELD. Not to mention his past works like PAX ROMANA, NIGHTLY NEWS, and TRANSHUMAN.

Pair him up with a great artist, and put him on one of the cooler Ultimate characters, and that's a recipe for a great comic. This mini-series will explore the origin of Ultimate Thor, Ultimate Loki, and the rest of Ultimate Asgard. Ragnorak has descended, and Asgard sits at the edge of the end. And, what the hell does Baron Zemo, mysterious commander for the Nazis, have to do with it all?

We'll find out this Wednesday in this untold story of Ultimate Thor's debut by one of comic's best writers.

RICHARD STARK'S PARKER: THE OUTFIT GRAPHIC NOVEL HITS THIS WEDNESDAY COURTESY OF DARWYN COOKE!

Man, there's too much cool stuff coming out this week. Darwyn Cooke returns to one of his best works of recent memory with this Wednesday's PARKER: THE OUTFIT graphic novel. Many of you may have gotten a taste of this with the MAN WITH NO FACE one-shot from last year, or last year's PARKER: THE HUNTER graphic novel.

Well, folks, let me tell you, Darwyn Cooke doing the crime noir Parker stories? Pure perfection. Every page, every panel, hell, even the COLORING of the actual paper the pages are printed on is part of the reading experience. Cooke manages to put so much love, and care into this story, that it really does immerse you in the world of Parker, and make for one of the best reads we've ever come across. This book is the definition of Eisner Award Winner.

This Wednesday, Cooke follows up his New York Times bestseller, THE HUNTER, with this sequel: THE OUTFIT. After evening the score with those who betrayed him, and recovering the money he was cheated out from the syndicate, Parker is riding high, living in swank hotels, and enjoying the finer things in life again. Until he's snitched out by a sequealer to the Outfit for the price they put on his head... and from there, we're taken into a cat and mouse game of deceit, betrayal, and just plain awesomeness.

Haven't read THE HUNTER? We've got copies in stock if you wanna start there.

Folks, we can't recommend this one enough, so give it a shot.

TRON BETRAYAL #1 - MARVEL COMICS DEBUTS This TWO PART MINI-SERIES BRIDGES THE GAP BETWEEN THE FIRST TRON MOVIE & the NEW TRON LEGACY MOVIE COMING OUT THIS YEAR!

Okay, so like any self-respecting video game and comic nerd growing up in the '80s and '90s, I freakin' love TRON. Maybe not enough to dress up like that one guy who got all over Youtube, and will forever be known as the TRON guy, but still, I love TRON.

Now, like many of you, I'm super pumped for the new TRON LEGACY movie, and I'm in GIVE ME ANYTHING TRON mode, 'cause lets face it: there's been a shortage of cool TRON-related things in the last few years.

This is why I am totally stoked to see the first issue of TRON BETRAYAL hitting this Wednesday. This two-issue mini series bridges the gap between the first TRON movie, and the new TRON LEGACY film, and lets face it, if you're like me, and are a big TRON fan, then you're dying to know what the hell happened between then and now.

The art and story on this one look great, and Marvel has said that they plan on using this as a way to set-up for more expanded universe TRON comics.

How could this not be awesome?

MARK MILLAR'S (writer of NEMESIS, KICK-ASS, OLD MAN LOGAN) CLiNT #1 DEBUTS THIS WEDNESDAY!
MILLAR'S NEW COMIC MAGAZINE ROCKS, AND FEATURES A FULL PREVIEW OF KICK-ASS 2, SERIALIZED COMIC STRIPS, & ARTICLES ALL HELMED BY MILLAR!

You know we're all big devotees of MARK MILLAR here at THIRD EYE. The man is responsible for some of the best comics we've seen pop up in the last decade. I mean, Millar's given us OLD MAN LOGAN, KICK-ASS, NEMESIS, and more. And, he continues to deliver his twisted, ultra-violent yet super-awesome comic tales month after month, well, OK, sometimes he's a little late, but hey, you can't rush quality, right?

Anyways, debuting this Wednesday is something truly unique, Mark Millar's comic-focused magazine CLINT. This series is kind of like a mix between the WIZARD magazine we have here in the U.S, and the 2000AD comics magazines that writers like Millar, Ennis, and more all got there starts with back in the UK.

Basically, it's a magazine Mark Millar puts together, featuring articles on all sorts of esoteric topics like the Manson Family Murders and the Tom Cruise of China, combined with several comics, including new material as well as reprint material, and heck, you've got yourself a pretty kick-ass read.

On the comics end of things, you can expect CLiNT to contain 8 pages of the all-new KICK ASS 2 BALLS TO THE WALL, reprinting of the first full issue of NEMESIS & TURF, as well as some new material like Rex Royd, Space Oddities, and more.

Looks to be an awesome read, and I can't wait to check it out.

IRREDEEMABLE VOLUME 4 TRADE PAPERBACK HITS WEDNESDAY, CONTINUING MARK WAID'S INCREDIBLE "SUPERMAN GONE EVIL" SAGA!
A MUST FOR FANS OF "THE BOYS" & STORIES LIKE "SUPERMAN RED SON"

If you're not already reading Waid's IRREDEEMABLE series, then you are seriously, seriously missing out, my friends. This book not only continues to be one of the best damn things I read every month, but it gets BETTER and BETTER as the series continues. Not losing momentum one bit, as soon as you feel like the story might be slowing down, Waid throws a curveball at you, and sends you reeling.

What is IRREDEEMABLE? Irredeemable is the story of the Plutonian, who is essentially SUPERMAN, basically the world's most powerful and upstanding superhero, and this one's all about his fall from grace into madness and murder. So, in a nutshell: Irredeemable is the story of Superman gone bad.

But, we'd be doing the series a disservice if we stopped there, because there's so much more at work with IRREDEEMABLE. Waid is building an entire superhero universe here where all the super-hero arch-types we know, and even some we don't, are allowed to grow and breathe like real people. I haven't seen good writing like this on superheroes in a long time, and the amount of character that goes into supporting characters that barely get a few panels at times, is amazing.

There's certain moments that really stand out in IRREDEEMABLE, like the dynamic of the whole "Lois & Clark" relationship of Plutonian, and his radio-caster girlfriend, and how when he reveals his secret to her, she's totally creeped out by the invasion of her own privacy and trust.

There's also moments like the Plutonian lobotomizing his teenage sidekick with his heat vision, sinking Singapore with meteors, and starting with the Batman-esque character first and foremost when beginning the systematic extermination of his old team-mates.

All in all, IRREDEEMABLE is must-read material, and if you haven't tried it yet, we recommend picking up the first trade paperback this week for only $9.99. You'll be glad you did.

For those of you like myself who're already hooked on the series, we know you'll be lining up to get your hands on the fourth trade paperback of IRREDEEMABLE this week.

Just keep in mind that BOOM! does low print runs, unfortunately, on their trades, so that combined with the popularity of the series, means they go quick. We've got a BUNCH coming in, so you'll be good, but if you'd like us to hold you one for pick up this week, just shoot me an email.

SHIELD #4 *THIRD EYE MUST BUY*- Jonathan Hickman's incredible series featuring Leonardo DaVinci, Galileo, Imhotep, Isaac Newton and more as the original Marvel Super-Heroes Continues to Hook Us This Wednesday at Third Eye!

Jonathan Hickman's SHIELD series has been one of the raddest things we've seen to come out of Marvel this year. A truly mind-bending epic of a read, this book is literally showing us the origins of SHIELD in the Marvel Universe, and how long before there was ever a Fantastic Four or an Avengers, a secret illuminati of great thinkers and historical figures served as the guardians of the Marvel Universe.

Hickman has done a fantastic job of weaving fiction and reality, and really makes it believable that historical figures like DaVinci, Nostradamus, Isaac Newton and others were the original lines of defense against the centuries old foes of the Marvel Universe, like Galactus, the Celestials, and others.

The beauty of SHIELD though is how the story unfolds with each issue, and continues to pull you in. It's not an easy series to sum up in one or two sentences, but we can tell you this: it's one of the best books we're reading right now.

If you've missed the first few issues, we've got copies of each in stock to catch you up. We recommend giving the series a shot, as it'll blow your mind. I mean, imagine Imhotep and his armies fighting the Brood in ancient Egypt, and there, in the background, one of his lieutenants, is Apocalypse! How cool is that?

Seriously though, this one's a great read. You'll love it.

BATMAN HIDDEN TREASURES - CLASSIC HORROR ARTIST, BERNIE WRIGHTSON, PROVIDES FULL INTERIOR ART ON THIS KILLER LOOKING BATMAN ELSEWORLDS ONE-SHOT FEATURING BATMAN vs. SOLOMON GRUNDYbatmanhiddentreasures
Here's something that's pretty freakin' cool for many of you long-time Bat-fans, and those of you like me, who just plain dig Elseworlds.

Hidden Treasures is a legendary lost Bernie Wrightson story starring the Dark Knight. Now, you might ask who is Bernie Wrightson? Bernie Wrightson is one of the BEST comic book artists of the last 30 years, and has influenced many, many horror-centric comic artists with his creepy EC Comics-inspired art style. His most famous work has been on series like SWAMP THING, and horror comics like CREEPY.

And, now, his legendary Batman versus Solomon Grundy story gets to see the light of day. And it couldn't look cooler.

If you just want a cool out-of-continuity Elseworlds Batman story, then we highly recommend checking this one out.

They let YOU, the readers, vote on their website for their favorite, and then pick one to receive an ongoing monthly series.

What's awesome about this? Well, we get a good round of killer one-shots, and the opportunity to bring some new stuff to the stands.

Over the course of those 48 hours, he must discover his triggering mechanism and determine who's behind the conspiracy that could not just end his life, but the lives of many others as well.

Another kick-ass new one-shot from the PILOT SEASON series, this one looks to be a pretty cool read in the vein of politically-charged action thriller movies like Vantage Point.

IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE DOOMWAR,KLAWS OF THE PANTHER #1 PITS SHURI, THE NEW BLACK PANTHER, AGAINST THE CLASSIC BLACK PANTHER VILLAIN, KLAW!

Following hot on the heels of the epic DOOMWAR from earlier this year, the next installment in the Saga of the Black Panther arrives this Wednesday.

Doomwar writer Jonathan Maberry continues his story with KLAWS OF THE PANTHER, which brings back the classic Black Panther villain, KLAW THE MASTER OF SOUND. The killer composed of living sound is back with a deadly new plan that will wreak havoc across the globe. Shuri, the new Black Panther, turns to the one person who knows about battling inner rage more than anyone, in an attempt to defeat Klaw.

LADY MECHANIKA #0 - A STEAMPUNK DEMON HUNTRESS IN 1878 PAIRED WITH JOE BENITEZ'S KILLER ARTWORK MAKES THIS ONE A MUST-SEE!

I'm usually not big into the ASPEN stuff, but, this new series from Joe Benitez looks fantastic, and judging from the advance pages we've seen, the story is actually pretty tight too.

The year is 1878, and the hunter known as Lady Mechanika hunts down the creature known only as the Demon of Satan's Alley only to make a shocking discovery about the creature and the ties the two share.

Now, it's already obvious that the artwork in this book is going to be off the chain, and that's normally the case with books that come out on the Aspen imprint. But, seriously, the character design, the costumes, the environments and surroundings, make this one to be a fantastically cool book to just plain look at. As for the story? Dialogue, and plot both compliment each other nicely, with the book providing enough meat to keep you interested, but without falling into that trap of getting bogged down and too wordy.

The first of this series hits this week, and if you're into sci-fi with a steampunk tilt, I'd recommend checking it out.

THIRD EYE STAFF PICKS
Steve - CROSSED FAMILY VALUES #4 - Dude, I thought Nemesis raised the bar last week, but CROSSED #4 completely obliterated it with just a couple pages. This series continues to impress and repulse.

Trish - STUFF OF LEGEND THE JUNGLE #2- Are you surprised? This is one of the best books out, and this second issue proves that the story is only getting better and better. READ IT!

TORMA - DARKNESS FOUR HORSEMEN #1 & #2 - I went back and gave this new mini-series featuring THE DARKNESS a shot, and I have to say I really like it. A gang of bikers who've taken on the incarnations of the Horsemen of Apocalypse (no not that Apocalypse)? Pretty awesome. I haven't been following the Darkness in a while but this mini was real easy to jump into and I liked it a lot, really eager to see what's next.
