FANTASTIC FOUR #587 *THIRD EYE MUST BUY* - ONE OF THE FANTASTIC FOUR WILL DIE! Jonathan Hickman's epic run comes to a peak in this issue! RESERVE YOUR COPY NOW

*Special Day Early Release*

IN STORE TOMORROW.. *TUESDAY* 1/25/11

ff587
All right, folks, this one is going to be BIG. While I'm not the quite as skilled in the art of telling the future as I'd like to be, I can tell you that Marvel is planning for some major press to release on this issue late Monday/early Tuesday. And, with one of the FF biting it in this issue, you know that means one thing, right? This issue is going to be in serious demand. So, before I go any further, and preach the virtues of Hickman's incredible run on the series, let me urge you guys to reserve your copies of this one early. I don't anticipate us selling out quickly, but, there's no telling how big the demand for this one will be once it hits the news, and it's important to me that you guys get your copies. You can reserve up to 3 copies right now.

Now, going forward, other than the sheer novelty and collector's angle of the book (it comes polybagged in a neat little black bag with a 3 on it, and has been given a strict no overprint policy by Marvel), there's one other reason why you need this book in your life: it's the perfect time to start reading Jonathan Hickman's INCREDIBLE Fantastic Four run.

Seriously, guys, I have never been a huge FF fan, I mean, I can appreciate the Stan Lee and Jack Kirby stuff, as well as the John Byrne stuff, but there's never really been any other runs on the characters that've reached out and grabbed me like Hickman's has. I've made no secret that I feel Hickman is one of the best writers to come on the scene since the folks like Grant Morrison, Alan Moore, and the rest of the British Invasion took the comics world by storm, but it's his Fantastic Four that really hammers home how talented this guy is. And, we cannot forget the incredibly talented artists who've worked with him on his run, Steve Epting and Dale Eaglesham, both of whom have helped bring a sense of wonder and scale to this book like no other. So, this is an exciting time for me, because it's a great opportunity to share a book that I feel is under-appreciated and really deserves way more attention than it's gotten recently.

Hickman began his run way back in FANTASTIC FOUR #570, and kicked things off with a bigger-than-life story arc that showed a Reed Richards who was slowly growing obsessed with "Fixing Everything." In fact, he was growing so obsessed that he opened a portal to meet with other versions of himself from various universes, headed by a high counsel of three Reed Richards.. all wielding Infinity Gauntlets. And, see, they've been going around from dimension to dimension, and enslaving the Dr. Dooms of these respective dimensions, and turning them into a "think farm" to assist them in their goal to: fix everything. See, Reed Richards is heading in a very dangerous direction, and that's been the underlying theme of Hickman's run.

However, we cannot forget the amazing sense of wonder Hickman has returned to the FF with subplots like the Four Lost Cities, the Return of Galactus (with Silver Surfer as his herald), and much more. In other words, this is everything you'd want a Fantastic Four comic to be. Bigger than life, high concept sci-fi stories that blow your mind. Hickman's characterization of the team also makes things pop quite nicely. In fact, when I first heard a FF member was going to die, I wasn't anywhere near as invested in who it was going to be as I am now. Hickman has literally taken each member of the team, and built them up so much that you don't want to see ANY of them die.

All in all, the series has been fantastic. We'll have all four previous chapters of the current COUNTDOWN TO CASUALTY story arc in stock this Wednesday to catch you up to issue #587. We'll also have plenty of both Volume 1,2 and 3 of Hickman's run that's been collected into trade paperback to get you caught up to where they are now as well.

You can click here to go read an article we did about FF #587, and Hickman's run here.

Also, as part of the fun, we're going to be offering a very special promotion the first 7 people who snag their copy of FANTASTIC FOUR #587 tomorrow. We're going to give you a special variant cover of Jonathan Hickman's first issue of FANTASTIC FOUR #570 totally free. So get here, line up early, and be one of the first to see WHO DIES in tomorrow's FF.. and grab a free FF 570 variant while you're at it!

This is was a limited edition chase variant that we recently found stashed away from last year when the issue originally came out, and we figured, hey, why not put it to good use? :)

AGE OF X ALPHA #1

- The Biggest X-Men Story in Years Begins Here. The Biggest Alternate Universe X-Men story since AGE OF APOCALYPSE begins here.. AND IT DOES TIE INTO THE CURRENT 616 X-Verse.

From UNWRITTEN & LUCIFER writer MIKE CAREY

AGEOFXALPHA
I haven't seen this much anticipation for an X-Book since back before SECOND COMING began. And, it's well-deserved, because AGE OF X just sounds plain freakin' cool. Let me back up before I go any further, and tell you guys that I may be a bit biased by this because I'm a huge, huge fan of alternate universe-style stuff that ties into the 616 Marvel Universe. AGE OF APOCALYPSE was the comic that got me into going to the comic shop every week when I was a youngun, so I have a soft spot for these kinds of things.

Now, that being said, AGE OF X looks freakin' off the chain rad. This one brings back some strong memories of AGE OF APOCALYPSE, for sure, and it also gives us a hint of 1602 in the way it's being shaped.
ageofxalpha1
What is AGE OF X? AGE OF X is a crossover storyline that begins in AGE OF X ALPHA one-shot this Wednesday, and then will run through X-Men Legacy and New Mutants for the next few months. The story takes place in a world that has never known the X-Men, in which the X-Men never came together as a team, and a mysterious, and enigmatic being known only as X ties everything together. What this means is we're going to see all the X-Men characters we know, and love in an alternate history setting where they're using their powers in different ways, forming different relationships, and heck, some of them might not even be the good guys they are now, and vice versa. From the very start, the enemies of the mutant species have been organized, and without an X-Men to band them together, they have not been. The whole world is a very hostile territory for mutants, and the only safehaven is a fortress where all the surviving mutants are welcome to hide. However, unlike UTOPIA in the regular realm of X-Books, this fortress is surrounded by enemies, and the area has been devastated by years of conflict. In other words, the battle is right at their front door.

How Does It Tie Back To The Continuity of the 616 Marvel 'verse? AGE OF X is set up with a strong mystery kind of angle to it, and that mystery is a big part of how it ties to the 616 Marvel world. Writer, Mike Carey (you may know him from LUCIFER and the UNWRITTEN) explains how he and the creators behind AGE OF X will be revealing the mystery backwards, stating that the conclusion will show why things have been done this way.

Why Is It Going To Rule? Folks, any time they do something that's kind of alt-history or alt-universe with the X-Men... it's intense, and very good. We're going to see characters cast in different lights. Bad guys are good guys, good guys are bad guys, and the life paths of characters have changed completely.. you know, the whole nine yards. Plus, the story sounds fantastic, and who doesn't love a good mystery?

There's also the fact that we're going to see some of our favorite characters getting some limelight that they haven't gotten in a long time. Magneto will be playing a pivotal role, and acting almost as a General like figure. Rogue will also be getting one of the best roles she's had in a series in a long time, which is pretty kick-ass, alongside Gambit, who we haven't seen used this well in a while.

DETECTIVE COMICS #873 *BLACK MIRRORS PART 3 - THIRD EYE MUST BUY* - AMERICAN VAMPIRE writer SCOTT SNYDER and THE LOSERS artist JOCK continue to make DETECTIVE COMICS one of the BEST Bat books on the stands.

Catch up with #871 pt 1 and #872 pt 2 this week!

detectivecomics873
If you're a Batman fan, and you're not reading DC Comics, then you are missing out, my friend. While DARK KNIGHT and BATMAN INC are kick-ass reads, they're also hogging the limelight for what I feel is one of the best takes on the world of Gotham that I've seen in ages.

Starting with DETECTIVE COMICS #871 (in stock now at Third Eye), and continuing in #872 (also still in stock and available), AMERICAN VAMPIRE writer Scott Snyder came on board the book with the superstar LOSERS artist JOCK, and the two of them have made Detective into one of the best damn Bat books on the stands. There's a very strong SHADOWS OF THE BAT / LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT feel to the kind of story these two are telling, as it's a dark, gothic mystery steeped in crime noir and all the weirdness that makes us love Gotham City. If you grew up reading Batman in the '90s when we got some real dark, and disturbed gems of stories that plumbed the darkest depths of the human psyche, then you will freakin' love the current run of DETECTIVE.

Detective focuses on Dick Grayson, who has picked up the mantle of the Bat for good, and is now in charge of Gotham while Bruce is out building his Batman Inc army. And, in particular, there's a strong emphasis on the relationship of The Batman and Jim Gordon. We can tell right from the start of the story that Gordon has been dealing with Batman for ages, and he's onto the fact that his city has been handed to a new Caped Crusader... and he's skeptical of him and his abilities.

This first arc, BLACK MIRRORS, focuses on a secret society that believes evil is the divine spark of mankind, as opposed to good. See, they believe since all other species are incapable of committing acts of evil and sadism, that this is what sets us apart from the rest of the life on Earth. And, they relish in this fact, having secret auctions where they use the auctioning of the crowbar used to kill Jason Todd by the Joker as a way to draw out the Batman.. who is really the prize auction piece.

Dripping in pure crime noir, weird pulp awesomeness, Detective Comics is one of the best books out right now, and if you're missing out on this one, you gotta get caught up this week. As an added bonus, there's a fantastic back-up story featuring Francesco Francavilla doing a solo Jim Gordon story. Francavilla's artwork is incredible, and between this title and his recent work on the new Black Panther series, we're becoming big fans.

We've got copies of both DETECTIVE COMICS #871 and #872 in stock now to catch you up to this week's #873.

STAR WARS: DARTH VADER AND THE LOST COMMAND #1 *THIRD EYE MUST BUY* - A New Ongoing Series Exploring the Adventures of Darth Vader post-REVENGE OF THE SITH, before the events of A NEW HOPE.

swdarthvader
Okay, no doubt, who doesn't love DARTH VADER? Heck, I'm a big fan of ANYTHING Star Wars that's in the neighborhood of the original Trilogy. And, that's why I'm super pumped about an ongoing Darth Vader comic book series. Seriously. This is awesome.

I mean, I think that comic storytelling has come far enough now that we're going to see some very intelligent, well put together, and compelling stories featuring one of the most conflicted villains in fiction. Plus, it's Darth Vader. How can you not want to read a comic featuring the Dark Lord of the Sith?

The new series, VADER AND THE LOST COMMAND, kicks off shortly after REVENGE OF THE SITH, where Vader is still haunted by those events. He now must set aside his past, and put his future on hold for a mission to the mysterious Ghost Nebula to locate -- and if possible, rescue -- a missing Imperial expeditionary force.

But what seems like the perfect opportunity to lose himself in his work is complicated by two factors: he is paired with a willful yet highly competent co-commander, and the officer they are being sent to locate is the son of Vader's rising nemesis, Moff Tarkin.

This series should give us more than just Vader though, as we can expect to get a rare look at the early days of the Empire, see the transition of the clone troopers to stormtroopers, witness the early beginnings of characters like Grant Moff Tarkin, and the construction of the Death Star.

We can't wait to check this one out.

AMERICAN VAMPIRE #11 *THIRD EYE MUST BUY* - If you're not reading American Vampire, you're missing out on one of the best Vertigo AND horror series on the stands.

From Scott Snyder, the man behind the incredible new DETECTIVE COMICS run

americanvampire11
Folks, Scott Snyder is a name to watch. Mark my words, guys like him, Nick Spencer, and Jeff Lemire are on their way to being the next Jason Aarons, Jonathan Hickmans, Matt Fractions, and Ed Brubakers.

Snyder may be wowing us monthly on Detective right now, but, I gotta tell you, folks... his work on AMERICAN VAMPIRE is his pride and joy. And, you can tell. This series is freakin' incredible, and even if you've got Vampire overload, you need to give this one a shot, because it is definitely leading the fine tradition of Vertigo quality that books like PREACHER and 100 BULLETS set before it.

American Vampire centers around the idea that every different part of the world produces a different vampiric bloodline, which has it's own weaknesses, and strengths. Skinner Sweet, an Old West outlaw, is the original AMERICAN VAMPIRE. And, there's been no others known to many, until he recently brought a young actress who was ripped to shred by some vampire power players, back to life...

And from there, we've been taken on a compelling, fascinating, and hot damn, bloody, joyride through the world of American Vampire. Predominantly set against the backdrop of the '20s and the Hollywood Babylon of the day.

For those of you who've grown tired of the kinder, gentler portrayal of vampires in popular fiction.. this book is for you. When Skinner, or Pearl, or any other number of the vampiric baddies "vamp out", they turn into some horrifying looking creatures, and we're talking limbs being ripped off, throats being torn out, and heads flying everywhere... Remember that ol' Tarantino/Rodriguez vampire flick FROM DUSK TIL DAWN?

Yeah, that kind of vampire.

The writing, the characterization, the pacing, the artwork, every damn thing makes AMERICAN VAMPIRE a must-read every month, and we can't recommend it enough.

Wanna get caught up? We've got issues 1-10 in stock for you to hop onto the singles, or you can jump on with the first graphic novel collection, AMERICAN VAMPIRE HC, which is also in stock now.

Either way, READ THIS BOOK!

It's An AVENGERS Triple Threat This Wednesday with..

AVENGERS #9 *THIRD EYE MUST BUY* - The Hood has the Infinity Gauntlet. Red Hulk's an Avenger. And, all hell breaks loose in the 9th issue of Marvel's flagship title.

avengers9
The AVENGERS has been one of the most fun Marvel books we've been reading ever since it launched with the creative team of BENDIS and ROMITA JR. Bendis brings his knack for killer characterization, big ideas, and sharp dialogue to the table, while Romita JR does what he does best: makes everything freakin' bigger than life, and completely awesome.

Not only is the book good, but so far, almost a year in, and it's done a terrific job of giving us a monthly dose of Marvel madness. Serving as the flagship title of the Marvel U, AVENGERS is kind of the book where the big storylines happen that impact the rest of the Marvel Universe as a whole. And, we can see this is already being established by the events of last week's INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #500, which touched on discussions between Tony Stark and Spider-man, as well as the Future version of Tony Stark.

Now, currently, we're in the thick of the second story arc of AVENGERS, which shows us the addition of Red Hulk to the team.. which we think is just plain awesome, and of course, the crux of the story: The Hood has two of the Infinity Gems and is now assembling the Infinity Gauntlet itself.

After last week's kick-ass issue featuring the Illuminati, and showing us just how deadly the Infinity Gauntlet can be, we're pretty stoked to see where the story is heading next. I have a strong feeling that this will play a role in the lead up to the cryptic FEAR ITSELF event that Marvel is preparing to unleash this summer.

Killer stuff, if you're not reading the AVENGERS, you need to hop onto this one. We've got copies of #1-#8 in stock and available to catch you up to issue #9.

SECRET AVENGERS #9 *THIRD EYE MUST BUY* - Ed Brubaker and Mike Deodato continue to make SECRET AVENGERS one of our favorite monthly Marvel books

SECRETAVENGERS9

Almost a year into SECRET AVENGERS, and I'm still just as hooked as I was when the series began. It's that good, folks. Brubaker is bringing his A-Game with each and every issue, and Deodato's art has never looked better.

For those of you who're not already reading SECRET AVENGERS, here's the skinny: the book focuses on Steve Roger's top secret black ops unit of Marvel heroes, which have each been hand-picked for very specific reasons. The purpose of this team? To handle the kind of missions that the public cannot know about. To do the things that the Avengers themselves cannot do. And, it's awesome. Each and every issue is practically irradiated with non-stop super-spy Marvel madness that kind of makes us feel like Brubaker is channeling Jim Steranko in a big way on this one. The team make-up, which consists of characters like The Beast, War Machine, Black Widow, Valkyrie, Moon Knight, and more, is unique in that it's a very plug-and-play kind of set-up.

Basically, members are rotated in and out based upon the special skills required for the jobs they're taking on. So, for example, the first arc which takes place on Mars (and was REALLY kick-ass), featured Nova, 'cause, lets face it: he's the guy you go to for the space know-how. This second arc, which is plunging the Secret Avengers deep into the martial arts underworld (looks like Brubaker is revisiting many of his old haunts from his killer run on Immortal Iron Fist), has switched Nova out for Shang-Chi, the Master of Kung Fu.

It's this unique dynamic which makes SECRET AVENGERS one of the best team superhero books we're reading, and folks, if you're a Marvel fan, or just a Brubaker fan, we highly recommend giving it a go.

We've got copies of issues #1-8 in stock and available to catch you up to this week's #9. Highly recommend checking the series out, 'cause it's one of the best on the stands.

NEW AVENGERS #8 *THIRD EYE MUST BUY*- THE BEST AVENGERS BOOK YOU'RE NOT READING!

Find Out New Avengers Is One Of Our Favorites

newavengers8
With the sheer scale of AVENGERS, and then the psychedelic awesomeness of SECRET AVENGERS, it's easy to overlook Bendis's NEW AVENGERS, but, folks, let me tell you, this one is every bit as good as the other two, and has been growing on me since issue #1. At first, I wasn't sure what identity NEW AVENGERS would hold in the line-up of new AVENGERS titles, but, now it's clear: it's the Avengers book with personality. It's the character-driven book, and it kicks ass. It's obvious that this is the team that's made up of all of Bendis's favorite Avengers characters. From Luke Cage and Jessica Jones to Spider-man and Wolverine, he's got a roster of characters that he just plain excels at writing. The dialogue in this book is some of the best in any comic hitting the stands today.

Moving forward, now that the New Avengers team has been concreted, and a line-up is in place, we're seeing the development of Jessica Jones possibly returning to the fray as an actual honest-to-goodness super-heroine.

Missed 1-7? We've got copies in stock and available now to catch you up to this week's #8

THE POWER OF SHAZAM STRIKES AGAIN IN THIS SHAZAM ONE-SHOT SETTING THE STAGE FOR THE MARVEL FAMILY'S RETURNshazam1

You know, the Marvel family has been absent from the DCU for a while now, and in fact, aside from a few appearances here and there, I think the last time we got a strong focus on these characters was in the excellent Trials of Shazam limited series. But that's changing now, with this kick-ass new one-shot that sets the stage of a grand return of Shazam, and the rest of the Marvel family.

In this week's one-shot, we get a rare and interesting look at the mystical side of the DCU, when Blaze, the current ruler of Hell, makes an offer to Mary and Billy Batson that may be too good to pass up. Will the two former heroes, who're now powerless, have the strength to deny the devil? And can Freddy Freeman, the new Captain Marvel, save them? And, how about Osiris? Where does he fit into all of this?

Give it a look this Wednesday, 'cause if it's kicking off the return of some awesome Captain Marvel stories, then we're stoked.

SKULLKICKERS #5 *THIRD EYE MUST BUY* - IMAGE'S MASH-UP OF BUDDY COMEDIES LIKE "THE HANGOVER" MIXED WITH FANTASY SETTINGS LIKE "WORLD OF WARCRAFT" and "ARMY OF DARKNESS" is AWESOME! Get caught up this Wednesday with #1-4 and find out why we're digging this one

skullkickers5
Man, we have been completely in love with the new Image series, SKULLKICKERS, which has made a fine addition to the Image line-up of books like CHEW, MORNING GLORIES, INFINITE VACATION, WALKING DEAD, and more. Just like with many of their other series, Skullkickers brings a fresh, unique spin to the world of comics that keeps us on the edge of our seats with each and every issue.

The series features some INCREDIBLE artwork from Edwin Huang, who's also worked as part of the UDON Studio, who you might know from their work on STREET FIGHTER IV. And, the art in this looks fantastic. It almost looks like you're watching an animated film on the page, that's how well it's put together.

As for the tone and story, the book features on two mercenaries, the big quiet guy, and the mouthy dwarf, and their screwed-up misadventures in a high fantasy setting that resemebles WORLD OF WARCRAFT's various locales. It's sword, sorcery, steam-powered tank, and filled with werewolves, demons, and all sorts of other baddies, and the two main characters are the guys you used to game with who ruined EVERY campaign you could imagine. And it's hilarious.

Imagine DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS mixed with buddy movies like LETHAL WEAPON or THE HANGOVER, and that sums it up pretty well. Throw in a bit of the slapstick humor of ARMY OF DARKNESS, and that's SKULLKICKERS.

Anyways, this week wraps up the first arc of the series, and prepares us moving forward to what's next. We cannot wait to get our hands on this one, and give it a read.

Missed 1-4? You know we've got copies in stock and available now to get you caught up.

UNCANNY X-FORCE #4 *THIRD EYE MUST BUY* - THE APOCALYPSE SOLUTION CHAPTER 4 - RICK REMENDER & JEROME OPENA'S RUN ON X-FORCE IS THE BEST THING. EVER. READ THIS BOOK.

uncannyxforce4
Folks, I have to tell you, if you're not reading UNCANNY X-FORCE, you need to remedy that this Wednesday. Heck, I don't even care whether you're an X-Fan or not, this book is simply put, one of the Top 3 Marvel books we're reading right now, and is one of my favorite monthly superhero books currently.

A lot of this has to do with the fantastic creative team of Rick Remender and Jerome Opena, who've worked together on other awesomeness such as FEAR AGENT, and the Dark Reign PUNISHER stuff. But, make no mistake, THIS is their best work to date, and it's blowing us away with each and every issue.

In one of the most riveting X-Men-related storylines we've seen in a while, the first arc of UNCANNY X-FORCE focuses on En Sabah Nur himself, yes, Apocalypse, who's been resurrected in the body of a child, and is being raised by Ozymandias (remember him?) and a slew of Apocalypse acolytes to bring about the Age of Apocalypse. Arc-Angel finds out about this, and taking X-Force, a team that's already got a shady past for doing things that X-Men shouldn't do, puts together an even more covert team to do the unthinkable: murder the child. And, from there, we get taken on one of the best damn rides in superhero comics today. The team that Remender has assembled is dynamic, and interesting, giving the characters plenty of opportunities to play off one another and keep things lively. Wolverine, Psylocke, Fantomex (who might be on his way to being my favorite of the bunch), Deadpool (who's not totally annoying here), and Arc-Angel act as the hit squad sent to dish out some swift execution-style justice to a young Apocalypse-in-training.

If I had to compare Uncanny X-Force to something, I'd say it stands up there with Joss Whedon and John Cassaday's run on ASTONISHING X-MEN. It's a tight, self-contained, high quality book that delivers both on art (and does it ever, Opena might be one of my favorite guys working today, and this is his breakout book), and story in a big way.

And, after seeing the origins of the Final Horsemen (the Four Horsemen assembled when all else fails) in last month's X-Force, we're pumped to see where this book goes next.

Missed 1-3? We've got copies in stock still to get you caught up to this week's #4.

BRIAN WOOD (Writer of DV8, DEMO, LOCAL & DMZ) returns this Wednesday with THE NEW YORK FIVE - A MUST-READ FOR FANS OF MORNING GLORIES, RUNAWAYS, DEMO, AND LOCAL

newyorkfive
We love BRIAN WOOD here at Third Eye. The man is a comic god. He writes so much awesome stuff, it's not even funny. And, this is why we're stoked for his NEW YORK FIVE which kicks off this Wednesday.

Just like with LOCAL and DMZ, Wood has great skill in writing strong, smart, and sometimes infuriating female leads. The story of New York five centers on a five college students in NY who're being haunted by complications from dark places beyond their hometowns. We've got Angie making a name for herself with her avant-garde style rock band in the Lower East Side, Riley who's the black sheep of her family, Lona who's past begins to surface showing she's a little too proficient in stalkerism, and Merissa and Ren confront uncomfortable situations involving older guys. And, of course, there's a 5th, but who is the mysterious 5th? Find out in the first issue of Wood's newest project this Wednesday with NY FIVE #1.

And, folks, I can tell ya, as a big-time fan of DEMO, and Wood's other works. You're gonna wanna read this.

This mini-series is an excellent fresh start to the series, but if you wanted to see the earlier adventures of the NEW YORK FOUR, you can get caught up by snagging a copy of NEW YORK FOUR for only $10 this Wednesday at Third Eye.

X-MEN #7 *THIRD EYE MUST BUY*- THE X-MEN GO TO NEW YORK! THE MORLOCK TUNNELS RETURN! AND THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN JOINS THE TEAM? YOU READ IT RIGHT, FOLKS!

FREE LIMITED EDITION PRINT WITH PURCHASE WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!

xmen7
There's no doubt that the current X-MEN ongoing series by Victor Gischler is one of our favorite books right now. This series, just finishing up the CURSE OF THE MUTANTS arc, delivers the kind of X-Men book we remember loving when we were growing up. Action-packed, bigger-than-life stories that gave the spotlight to all of our favorite mutants. And, that's what really makes the current X-Men ongoing series shine as a good read. It's the X-Men you WANT to read about. It's the big guns. It's the equivalent of the JLA's Big 7 rule. And, that's why we love it.

Now, kicking off this Wednesday, the series continues as our favorite gang of merry mutants make a visit to New York City, and get involved in a grisly mess going on beneath the streets of the city.... which leads 'em straight to the Morlock Tunnels. And, what's New York without everyone's favorite friendly neighborhood Spider-man?

It's been a long time since we've seen the X-Men and Spidey cross paths, and after already having read an advance on this one... I gotta say, it's a blast. I think this is gonna be a very solid arc to follow up the kick-ass CURSE OF THE MUTANTS arc that launched the series.

Another thing that made this one stand out this week is the addition of Chris Bachalo as penciler. Some of my fondest X-Memories were when he was bringing his unique art styling to the book, and after reading #7, I gotta tell you, not only does the book read great, but it looks great as well.

HULK: THE END - NOW BACK IN PRINT! THIS CLASSIC TRADE PAPERBACK FEATURING HULK THE END, AND FUTURE IMPERFECT! A MUST-READ

hulktheend
We've been begging Marvel forever to put this epic collection back into print, and we're so stoked to see that this Wednesday, once again, we'll be able to put two of the best Hulk stories ever done in your hands, Third Eye Faithful!

HULK: THE END collects both the HULK: THE END graphic novella by Dale Keown which shows us a far future where Bruce Banner/The Hulk is the last living sentient being on Earth. The planet is practically dead, and all that's left is him and a wasteland surrounding him... and all he wants is to die, but death doesn't come to him when he wishes.

Also in this collection is the legendary Peter David's FUTURE IMPERFECT, which shows us another far future tale of The Hulk, in the identity of The Maestro. An aged, white-haired monster with a military strategist way of thinking who has killed ALL of the Marvel superheroes, and wears their assorted armors as trophies.

Both stories are legendary, and fantastic reads, and make this trade paperback a must-read for anyone who's either a big Hulk fan, or just plain likes good comics.

STAR WARS LEGACY WAR #2 - The next installment in the Grand Finale of The Incredible STAR WARS LEGACY series Continues Here

swlegacywar2
Star Wars Legacy is probably one of our favorite STAR WARS comics. Ever. So, when the series ended with issue #50, we were kinda bummed. I mean, that was that, right? Another great Star Wars comic reaches it's conclusion.

But, then Dark Horse made everything all right by giving us STAR WARS LEGACY: WAR, a limited series that gives some final closure to the SW Legacy line, and after just the first issue, we're hooked all over again.

Darth Krayt is back, and he's taking every single one of his enemies down, in a big way. Meanwhile, Cade is forming a plan to draw Krayt out for their final showdown, and Sith spy is revealed in Roan Fel's ranks.

If you want pure Star Wars awesomeness... you need to be reading Legacy. Check out the trade paperbacks, starting with volume 1, and find out why this series set 125 years after Return of the Jedi, focusing on the great-grandson of Luke Skywalker, is one of our favorite SW comics.

SPAWN #201 - PICKING UP FROM SPAWN #200, THE NEW DIRECTION OF SPAWN CONTINUES, AND IT'S KICK-ASS.

spawn201
We really dug SPAWN #200 from a couple weeks ago, as ROBERT KIRKMAN, TODD MCFARLANE and GREG CAPULLO did a fantastic job of closing one chapter in the world of Spawn, and paving the road for an all-new chapter for the character and it's world.

And, now, with a commitment to returning to a monthly schedule, Spawn #201 follows up on last month's #200, kicking off the new direction of Spawn that #200 set up. If you were a fan of the series back in the day, and it's been a long time since you've followed the character, we highly recommend jumping on with Spawn #200, and starting from there. #200 is a perfect jumping on point, and really shows a huge improvement in the story of the book comapred to the last few years. Plus, McFarlane's brought back all the classic Spawn villains you all know and love, and with the Clown as the prominent one, we're in for a treat.

Meanwhile, the new Spawn is learning how to deal with his celebrity status as a modern day Messiah, and the ins and outs of being the only Earthbound Hellspawn.

If you're an old school Spawn fan, or always wanted to give the character a try, snag a copy of #200 and hop on with #201 this week, and find out why Spawn is a must-read once again.

ARE YOU READING ACTION COMICS? ONE OF THE BEST DC BOOKS ON THE STANDS.. PAUL CORNELL'S ADVENTURES OF LEX LUTHOR CONTINUE THIS WEDNESDAY AS HE COMES FACE TO FACE WITH... THE JOKER!

actioncomics897

We can't stress enough how good ACTION COMICS has been since issue #890, when Paul Cornell kicked off his incredible run, and shifted the focus of the book to Lex Luthor, and his overwhelming quest to contain the Black Lantern energy, after tasting the Orange Lantern's power during BLACKEST NIGHT.

Cornell has really structured Luthor as a compelling, and interesting anti-hero that we just cannot get enough of. Make no mistake, Luthor, is a villain, and he makes no bones about it, but the way he's written is so well-done that the reader can almost empathize with some of the things he's thinking.

Each issue has been a solid done-in-one story, that you can either read on their own merit, or you can follow the larger, over-arching narrative of Luthor seeking the Black Lantern. Basically, we're seeing one-shot stories where Luthor comes across the DCU's biggest icons as part of his quest.. from Vandal Savage to Neil Gaiman's DEATH (in ACTION COMICS 895). However, there's a bigger story that links each issue, which makes it just as rewarding following "the big picture."

This week, it's Luthor visiting Arkham Asylum, and guess who he's seeing.. that's right, the Clown Prince of Crime himself, the Joker!

Wanna jump on? We've got all the chapters in stock of this run, starting with issue #890, and up to this week's #897.

THIRD EYE STAFF PICKS
Steve - INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #500 - Fantastic read. Invincible Iron Man remains one of my favorite series, and has continued to impress the heck out of me, and this issue was the perfect spot to jump on with the new arc. Plus... Mandarin!

Trish - MORNING GLORIES #6 - Each issue of this one gets better, and better. The school, the characters, everything grows into a more interesting picture as the series progresses.

TORMA - SUPERIOR #4 - Killer twist at the end of this one. How can you go wrong with evil monkeys that worship Satan?
