THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS @ THIRD EYE FOR WEDNESDAY 3/16/11

FEAR ITSELF BEGINS THIS WEDNESDAY IN THE FEAR ITSELF PROLOGUE: BOOK OF THE SKULL ONE-SHOT - A MUST READ FOR ANYONE PREPARING FOR MARVEL'S BIGGEST STORYLINE SINCE CIVIL WAR

fearitselfbookoftheskull
Folks, here it is. The first shots fired in what is going to be the biggest Marvel storyline since the now-classic CIVIL WAR. This is a storyline that, after having spoke with Matt Fraction about it last week, has us positive you are going to be flipping out about it, and it all kicks off in the official PROLOGUE, BOOK OF THE SKULL, this Wednesday.

Okay, so, the cryptic teasers for FEAR ITSELF have been popping up for a couple of months now, and you've been hearing rumblings of it from us non-stop since then. And, you know, the sketchbook was a nice teaser, but there still wasn't a lot to go on in terms of WHAT was happening with the actual FEAR ITSELF plot.

Well, we can tell you what this is, and what it's all about. And, folks, this is as spoiler-free as it's gonna get. The story of FEAR ITSELF is the kind of story that will rock the Marvel Universe to it's core. We're talking MAJOR characters being put through character-changing events. We're talking death. We're talking switching sides. We're talking all hell breaking loose.

So, what's the plot centering around? Essentially, the "new" Red Skull, aka Sin, Red Skull's daughter, has discovered a secret her father had kept hidden for many, many years. See, her dad, the Red Skull, discovered during a very fateful World War II mission, that not all is as it seems with the pantheon of Asgardian gods... and, this is the kind of revelation that completely changes the way we view Thor, Odin, and many others in a major way. And while I feel that the revelation of this is going to be a nice punch in this week's BOOK OF THE SKULL, I'll refrain from going into detail, but what I will say is that this prologue explains WHAT FEAR ITSELF is, and why this is such a big freakin' deal. And, Sin, the present day Red Skull, has discovered this secret, and unleashed an evil on the Marvel Universe that it may not EVER be able to recover from.

Now, I have a much more direct, and slightly spoilery description for WHAT FEAR ITSELF is, but if you want that one, just ask me, because I know many of you will prefer to wait and see the punch of it in this week's FEAR ITSELF prologue.

Now, moving right along, lets talk about this week's BOOK OF THE SKULL, and why this is something that you gotta have if you're planning on dipping your toe into the awesomeness that will be FEAR ITSELF.

Ed Brubaker (CRIMINAL, INCOGNITO, CAPTAIN AMERICA, and SECRET AVENGERS) pens this very special one-shot which details how all of the Red Skull's most terrible, and secret plans are now in the hands of his just as evil daughter, Sin, and it shows us just how intent she is on outdoing her father. And, in this prologue that sets up the FEAR ITSELF event perfectly, we see WHAT the startling secret is that the Red Skull has held, HOW he came upon it, and WHY he hasn't let it fall into the hands of ANYONE until now.

You can pretty much consider this FEAR ITSELF #0, folks, as it sets up the series perfectly, and straight from Matt Fraction himself, THIS is a book you're going to want to read.

We'll be posting up a full FEAR ITSELF checklist along with next week's newsletter as Marvel will be providing us with the full skinny between now and then.

In the meantime, make sure you snag your copy of FEAR ITSELF PROLOGUE: BOOK OF THE SKULL this Wednesday.

NICK SPENCER'S KICK-ASS NEW IMAGE SERIES, MORNING GLORIES, CONTINUES THIS WEDNESDAY IN MORNING GLORIES #8

Not reading this one? Snag the trade paperback with issues 1-6 for only $10, and then catch up with #7 and #8 this Wednesday!

morningglories8
One of the best damn Image series we've seen launched since the arrival of CHEW, MORNING GLORIES continues to keep us on the edge of our seats with the compelling mystery that drives the plot of this kick-ass series. I know, I know, I rant, and I rave, ever month about how much we love this book, but folks, it's cause we love the series THAT much.

What is MORNING GLORIES? The story of MORNING GLORIES centers around the prestigious yet mysterious MORNING GLORY ACADEMY, where hopeful parents send their children off to be groomed for the finest of Ivy League schools. And, we quickly learn from the very first issue that there's a lot more going on at this school than we thought. Underneath the surface, lies a mysterious, almost occult-like atmosphere where students are quickly disassociated from their loved ones, and put through assorted grueling emotional and mental tests. And, then there's the whole thing with the creepy apparition that stalks the basement floors, and makes kids's heads explode from the inside out. Yeah, that can be a real bummer. :)

Anyways, the series follows the newest class to come to Morning Glory Academy, and how they're trying to survive the school while also figuring out a way to escape, and solve the mystery that exists there as well. And, this folks, is where the series shines. Nick Spencer manages to craft a compelling supernatural-tinged mystery that delivers a cast of believable, and complex characters. The students you follow range from the noble and well-intentioned to the downright sociopathic and self-serving. Spencer's dialogue does a fantastic job of making these characters jump off the page at you, and as for the plot, we haven't seen this many cliffhanger endings since Walking Dead came on the scene a few years back.

If you're not reading MORNING GLORIES yet, we highly recommend it, whether you're a fan of many of the innovative new series that Image has been putting out, or if you enjoyed stuff like Brian K. Vaughn's run on RUNAWAYS, we really feel you'll enjoy this one.

You can hop aboard with the first trade paperback for just $10, and that collects issues 1-6, and then we've got copies of issue #7 to catch you up to this week's #8.

Don't sleep on this one, folks, this is one of the best damn books on the stands, and we cannot get enough of it.

BRIGHTEST DAY #22 - THE FINAL FOUR HAS ARRIVED, AS WE NEAR THE CONCLUSION TO DC'S KILLER FOLLOW-UP TO BLACKEST NIGHT, AND REBIRTHING OF MANY OF THEIR LEGENDARY CHARACTERS

brightestday22Brightest Day has proven to be one of the best damn maxiseries that DC has done. Definitely on par with the same quality they demonstrated in the pages of 52. And, as we get close to the conclusion of the series, we're finding ourselves increasingly more and more intrigued about where this is going to leave everything. And, with Flashpoint right around the corner, we think that there's some serious revelations prepared to drop in these next four issues of the series.

For those of you who may be coming in late in the game, the Brightest Day series is Geoff Johns and Peter Tomasi's epic follow-up to the awesomeness that was 2009's BLACKEST NIGHT. The series has served not just as a nice follow-up to BLACKEST NIGHT, but also as a perfect opportunity re-invent the DC UNIVERSE as a whole.

You could almost look at Brightest Day as DCU: REBIRTH, as many awesome and under-utilized characters have gone from being almost-forgotten to major players now that we're nearing the end of the Brightest Day. The storyline has been following the mystery of the White Lantern, and the various heroes and villains who were resurrected in the aftermath of Blackest Night.

In the midst of it all, we've seen an Aquawar, the true secrets of the Hawks, and gotten to know more about Deadman than I think anyone could ever have thought was possible. And, it's all been totally, positively awesome.

Now, with issue #26 being the grand finale to Brightest Day, we're nearing the end, and things are really heating up. The last few issues have all dropped huge revelations, and as we get closer, we feel that some major stuff is going to go down that sets the stage perfectly for Flashpoint.

Whether you're just getting back into comics, and looking to get into the DC Universe, or if you're an old fan, and looking for more awesomeness akin to BLACKEST NIGHT, we highly recommend snagging BRIGHTEST DAY and checking this one out.

You can either hop on with the issues (as we've got the entire series, issues 0-22 in stock and available now), or you can pick up the first hardcover collecting issues 0-7 and get caught up that way.

Either way, give it a shot, and find out just why we're so pumped about BRIGHTEST DAY.

5 RONIN #3 - MARVEL'S CLEVER RE-IMAGINING OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE AGAINST THE BACKDROP OF FEUDAL JAPAN CONTINUES THIS WEDNESDAY AS WE SEE THE PUNISHER'S ROLE IN THIS STORY

5ronin3

Marvel's 5-issue 5 RONIN limited series has been one of the raddest, most fun things we've seen in a while, and the first two issues of the series (focusing on Wolverine and Hulk) have both delivered some incredible storytelling and artwork. We gotta give 'em credit on this one: they've really hit a homerun.

What's 5 Ronin about? Okay, if you guys remember Neil Gaiman's 1602, it's very similar to that. Marvel characters are being re-imagined in interesting and compelling new ways against the backdrop of feudal Japan. Wolverine is cast as a wandering ronin samurai, the Hulk as a retired warrior trying to resist his violent past, and now, this week, a look at what the Punisher's role in this world is.

And, folks, I gotta tell you, this and the Psylocke ones are the two I'm most stoked about. Just look at that cover: badass.

Writer Peter Milligan has been doing a fine job of weaving these stories together, and making for a compelling plot while at the same time giving us all sorts of fun tidbits that come along with seeing our favorite Marvel characters thrown into a different setting.

Missed 5 RONIN 1 & 2? We've got 'em in stock to catch you up.

FELICIA DAY RETURNS THIS WEDNESDAY WITH THE GUILD: TINK ONE-SHOT WRITTEN BY FELICIA DAY HERSELF, AND FEATURING ARTWORK BY "HACK/SLASH" TIM SEELEY, "CURSED PIRATE GIRL'S" JEREMY BASTIAN, and "EMPOWERED" artist ADAM WARREN

guildtink1

Who doesn't love Felicia Day and her kick-ass web show THE GUILD which centers around a crew of MMORPG plaeyrs who find themselves getting totally immersed in the virtual fantasy world where they spend most of their time ?

We're big fans of THE GUILD here at Third Eye, so we're always stoked to see a brand new GUILD comic from Felicia Day and company, and this one-shot focusing on Tink looks to be a serious winner. The talent attached to this one alone is pretty impressive, as Day handles the writing chores, and artists like JEREMY BASTIAN (CURSED PIRATE GIRL), TIM SEELEY (HACK/SLASH) and ADAM WARREN (DIRTY PAIR, EMPOWERED) bring their talents to the world of THE GUILD.

Also, if you missed the original 3-issue GUILD limited series, we've got the graphic novel in stock of that collecting the entire thing to get you caught up, as well as the last one-shot released for Vork.

If you're a fan of the show, or just a fan of gamer humor, we think you'll really enjoy the comics. Check it out this Wednesday!

JUMP ONTO THE BEST X-BOOK ON THE STANDS THIS WEDNESDAY WITHUNCANNY X-FORCE #5.1 - A PERFECT JUMPING ON POINT TO ONE OF OUR FAVORITE SERIES

UNCANNYXFORCE5POINT11

Folks, I have to tell you one thing, and one thing only: Uncanny X-Force is one of the best damn comics on the stands right now. Even if you don't read X-Books, you need to be reading Uncanny X-Force. The caliber of writing from RICK REMENDER (FEAR AGENT, VENOM, & more) and the top tier artists involved (whether it's JEROME OPENA, or RAFAEL ALBUQUERQUE), make this one of the best damn superhero books on the stands. I get the same kind of feeling reading this that I did from Joss Whedon and Cassaday's original run of ASTONISHING X-MEN. Just a great, self-contained, kick-ass X-Men story that delivers on all counts.

For those of you who may not already be on board with this one, Marvel and their Point 1 initiative are giving you the perfect example to hop aboard and find out why this series is considered a MUST-READ.

What's Marvel .1? The .1 issues are designed to be "halfway points" of sorts, that take place in between story arcs of a series, and serve as an easy way to jump onboard a title without having to have read loads of back issues to get caught up. In other words, it's a quick and easy way to hop onto some of Marvel's best titles. At the same time, the stories going on inside of the .1 issues still remain relevant to what's to come, and serve as a vital part of the series, so it doesn't feel out of place to readers already invested in the book.

And, Uncanny X-Force most definitely fits that bill. Anyways, in this week's UNCANNY X-FORCE #5.1, we get to see how when a situation is calling for hard choices, the X-Force is there to step in. Lady Deathstrike, with the newly reunited Reavers at her side, set out to destroy the X-Men in their home, and she's determined to obliterate the X-Men or die trying... and the Uncanny X-Force, a team of X-Men designated as the "killers" of the X-Teams, are more than happy to oblige her death wish.

A kick-ass read, we highly recommend checking out this issue, and then going back and getting caught up on this great book, or hopping on with issue #6 following this one.

VERTIGO'S DEAD GIRL DETECTIVE ARRIVES THIS WEDNESDAY IN THE I ZOMBIE Vol.1 DEAD TO THE WORLD TRADE PAPERBACK

Imagine IMAGE's "CHEW"... but with zombies, were-terriers, and more!

izombietpb1

We're so stoked that Chris Roberson and Mike Allred's I ZOMBIE is coming out this week in trade. Why? 'Cause it means we get to introduce this freakin' awesome series to a brand new wave of folks who haven't yet discovered it.

I ZOMBIE seriously is one of the hidden gems of Vertigo's current stable. What's it about? Well, meet Gwen, Gwen's a 20-something gravedigger in an eco-friendly cemetery. Oh, and once a month she's gotta eat a human brain to keep from lsoing her memories, and turning into a mindless, brain-craving ghoul. Of course, in the process of you know, keeping herself from becoming the more traditional kind of zombie, she ends up becoming consumed with the thoughts and personalities of the dead person's brain she consumed.. or at least til she eats her next brain.

In the first arc collected in this trade, Gwen sets out to fulfill the last wish of the dead person's brain she's recently munched, and solve any crimes, or right any wrongs that may have been inflicted upon them. Our zombie girl detective is joined by her best friend, Eleanor, who happens to be a swinging ghost from the '60s, a posse of paintball-blasting vampires, a were-terrier, and totally demented mummy.

Along the way, we're treated to some of the most morbid fun you can find in comics as this quirky little series keeps you hooked issue after issue.

And, lets not forget about Mike Allred's art on this one. He really brings his A-Game here, delivering that kind of unique pop art sensibility he's known for, and it really helps bring the world of IZOMBIE to life.

I highly recommend this one to anyone who enjoys the current crop of kick-ass Vertigo books, ranging from stuff like FABLES, to Jeff Lemire's SWEET TOOTH. Also, if you're a fan of anything that has a quirky, '60s Monster Mania kind of feel, you'll love it. And of course, you can see where I'm coming from with the CHEW comparison. :)

Check it out this Wednesday here at Third Eye!

NICK SPENCER (writer of MORNING GLORIES, INFINITE VACATION, & more) DELIVERS ANOTHER KICK-ASS WAR MACHINE ISSUE WITH THIS WEDNESDAY'S IRON MAN 2.0 #2

ironman2point02 Hot damn, we loved the first issue of Nick Spencer's new WAR MACHINE series, IRON MAN 2.0. This is probably one of the best takes on a character that's been one of our long-time favorites that we've read in a while. And, Spencer, with his star rising from his killer work on series like THUNDER AGENTS, INFINITE VACATION, and MORNING GLORIES, is looking to really tear things up on IRON MAN 2.0.

This series, spinning directly out of Matt Fraction's INVINCIBLE IRON MAN run, brings us Lt. Col James Rhodes, and he's got a new mission, new armor, and is a whole new kind of Iron Man.

Iron Man 2.0 is a fresh, and innovative take on the world of Iron Man and War Machine, and Spencer, who's made a name for himself on very tech-and-social media-inspired themes as seen in books like INFINITE VACATION, THUNDER AGENTS, and FORGETLESS, really does the series a great justice. And, of course, what's a good War Machine book without lots of heavy firepower? Spencer delivers big time in that arena as well.

Action-packed, and well-put together, IRON MAN 2.0 is showing a lot of promise as a new addition to Marvel's line, and we're personally very excited about the book.

A great team of artists, a great writer, and a great character, definitely snag a copy of issue #1 if you haven't already, and give this one a shot.

A DOUBLE-DOSE OF HACK/SLASH THIS WEDNESDAY WITH HACK/SLASH ONGOING #2 & HACK/SLASH vs. BOMB QUEEN ONE-SHOT

Missed HACK/SLASH ONGOING #1? We've got it in stock to catch you up!

hackslashongoing2

We're huge fans of HACK/SLASH, and have been for quite a while now, so we're totally stoked to finally see this great series getting it's due and being published by Image Comics.

Hack/Slash is a fresh, fun, totally violent, and absolutely gratuitous send-up to all those slasher movies you used to rent at the mom and pop video store. You know the ones, with the ridiculously oversized clamshell cases, and totally awesome cover art.

Seriously though, Tim Seeley is doing his best work to date on this new ongoing series which follows up on last year's HACK/SLASH YEAR ONE story, MY FIRST MANIAC (available in trade paperback here at Third Eye for only $9.99, a great primer for the world of Cassie Hack).

What is HACK/SLASH? Hack/Slash is the story of Cassie Hack, and her partner Vlad, and their quest to rid the world of "slashers." See, "slashers" is the term that's been given to vengeful, wrath-filled undead that're so ticked off that they cannot be put to rest by normal means. Imagine all of your classics, your Freddy Kruegers, your Jason Vorhees, your Michael Meyers, and then throw in some of those lesser-known but just as classic gems, like the heavy metal killer from Black Roses, or the killer Santa from Silent Night/Deadly Night. Yeah, Hack/Slash pays tribute to them all, and it's amazing.

Of course, this series isn't just a one-trick pony, folks, and while nostalgia and tributes are great, it won't keep you fresh, and that's where HACK/SLASH really stands apart from other series that've explored similar themes. Tim Seeley really brings a fresh, innovative, and well-crafted story to the world of Cassie Hack, and never lets his stories get stale.

And, with this brand new ongoing series from Image, following the adventures of Cassie Hack, now is a perfect spot to jump in, and give the book a shot. We've still got limited copies of HACK/SLASH #1 in stock to get you caught up to this week's #2, so check 'em out, and find out why this is a consistent Third Eye favorite!

And, on a side-note, also hitting this week is the HACK/SLASH vs. BOMB QUEEN one-shot, which promises to be totally crude, and totally ridiculous.. and even, totally awesome. :)

BACK IN STOCK: COUNTDOWN TO CASUALTY - FANTASTIC FOUR #583, #584, #585, and #586 - THE ENTIRE FOUR PART STORY BY JONATHAN HICKMAN THAT LEADS UP TO THE INFAMOUS DEATH ISSUE OF FANTASTIC FOUR #587 (also still available)

ff587sBack in stock this Wednesday, we've got the full COUNTDOWN TO CASUALTY FANTASTIC FOUR storyline by Jonathan Hickman that led up to the tragic death of the HUMAN TORCH.

Folks, this was the high point of Hickman's run, and with FF #1 set to debut in a week (3/23), this is a perfect spot to at least get caught up on this now-classic arc which brings us the end of an era for the FANTASTIC FOUR, and sets up for the highly anticipated new FF series debuting next week.

For those of you who also missed #587, we've got copies of that in stock as well to help you finish off the arc. And, as an added bonus, these are killer linking cover designs that when laid out side by side, put together one larger picture.

An awesome read, we highly recommend snagging 583-587 and finding out why so many people are saying that FANTASTIC FOUR is the best it's been in many, many years.

MARVEL'S CROSSGEN IMPRINT DEBUTS ANOTHER NEW SERIES THIS WEDNESDAY WITH "IRREDEEMABLE" writer MARK WAID'S RUSE #1 - A KICK-ASS TALE OF THE WORLD'S GREATEST DETECTIVE, WITH A STEAMPUNK SLANT, CHECK THIS ONE OUT!

ruse1

Last week, we saw the release of SIGIL #1, which was the first book to be put out on the new CrossGen imprint of Marvel, a line dedicated to expanding the different genres of stories Marvel offers, but with A-List creators helming the series.

Now, this Wednesday, we're seeing the release of one of my own personal favorites from Marvel's CROSSGEN imprint, with RUSE #1. Ruse is a must-read for those of you who're big on the steampunky or detective stuff that's set against the backdrop of the Victorian ERA.

Written by IRREDEEMABLE/INCORRUPTIBLE creator MARK WAID, RUSE follows the adventures of the Victorian world's greatest detective, Simon Archard. And, when he crosses paths with a mysterious, and enchanting woman by the name of Emma Bishop, has the smartest man in the world met his equal?

I got to read an advance of this one, and hot damn, it's what you've wanted out of every Sherlock Holmes comic you've read. A great, mystery-driven story with some serious weird science, vague occultism, and a just a hint of steampunk aesthetic, this series is looking very promising.

If you're a fan of stuff like Witchfinder, FIVE FISTS OF SCIENCE, Sherlock Holmes, or the Sixth Gun, we think you'll really enjoy RUSE.

Click here for a preview of RUSE #1

THE DEATH OF ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN CONTINUES THIS WEDNESDAY INULTIMATE AVENGERS vs. NEW ULTIMATES #2 by MARK MILLAR and LEINIL YU, the creative team behind SUPERIOR.

ultimateavengersvsnewultimates2

We're huge fans of this DEATH OF ULTIMATE SPIDERMAN storyline that's been rocking the pages of ULTIMATE SPIDEY and ULTIMATE AVENGERS for the last month, and we're really stoked to see what comes next in this week's ULTIMATE AVENGERS vs. NEW ULTIMATES #2.

And, folks, this is it. The two most powerful super-teams in the Ultimate Universe are set to collide in an all-out-massacre of a brawl. A misunderstanding between the two units has brought them to each other's throats, and you know that with a guy like Mark Millar (OLD MAN LOGAN, KICK-ASS, NEMESIS) penning this one.. it's gonna be a bloodbath.

We haven't had this kind of excitement for the Ultimate Universe in quite some time, not since the early days of the Ultimate Spidey and Ultimates titles, and it really seems like the original architects of the Ultimate Universe, Millar and Bendis, are bringing their A-Game in how they build this event surrounding the death of one of their most iconic characters.

If you've missed out on any of the previous chapters of DEATH OF ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN, don't even sweat it, 'cause we've got all of the issues in stock and available to help get you caught up to this week's ULTIMATE AVENGERS vs. NEW ULTIMATES #2.

MARVEL POINT ONE: THE HULK #30.1 - HOP ABOARD WITH THE HULK THIS WEDNESDAY, AND FIND OUT WHY JEFF PARKER & GABRIEL HARDMAN HAVE BEEN MAKING THIS BOOK A MUST-READ!

hulk30point1Kicking off this Wednesday, Marvel's POINT ONE INITIATIVE hits the HULK, providing a perfect jumping on point for one of the Marvel Universe's best kept secrets: the Red Hulk.

Okay, so we know, the Jeph Loeb stuff wasn't all that satisfying, but ever since Jeff Parker came aboard this book, he's been turning it into a compelling, action-packed series following the definition of anti-hero with the Red Hulk at it's forefront. And, the art has been pretty darn nice too, between Ed McGuinness returning, and Gabriel Hardman handling chores on the regular.

And, just like with UNCANNY X-FORCE #5.1, as mentioned above, this is a .1 issue ,which makes it the perfect opportunity to give a new series a try, and we know that a lot of you have been curious about trying the Hulk stuff. Trust us, we think you'll dig it. Who doesn't love to see the Hulk smashing the hell out of everything and anything?

Click here for a preview of HULK #30.1

AVATAR PRESS (publishers of CROSSED & NEONOMICON) return this WEDNESDAY with NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: DEATH VALLEY #1 - MORE GORY, ZOMBIE AWESOMENESS FROM THE AVATAR PRESS CREW!

notlddeathvalley1

I think it's obvious that we're suckers for horror comics here at Third Eye, and nobody does horror like AVATAR does horror. Between their twisted survival horror saga CROSSED, and Alan Moore's demented HP LOVECRAFT riff NEONOMICON, they tend to knock it out of the park on both counts.

Now, this Wednesday, Avatar is serving up another demented slice of gore and grue with NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: DEATH VALLEY.

It's 1969, and one year, and 1,700 miles from the devastating plague that ravaged the Eastern Seaboard of the United States, and that doesn't mean a thing. In the arid expanse of the California desert, a group of young, weekend warriors have left behind the tensions of the times, and hoped to get away from it all with boss dune buggies, and wild bikinis. Of course, things take a turn for the worst, and in the depths of Death Valley, where the flesh-hungry living dead wait, baking in the sun, and thirsting for the blood of the living, this group of vacationers are in for a real treat.

Totally awesome, and totally over-the-top, if you've liked Avatar's other NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD comics, or enjoy the stuff they do with CROSSED, you should give this one a shot this Wednesday.

batmanirressistible

This one features the art of the incredible TONY HARRIS, who you might know from STARMAN or EX MACHINA, and tells the story of the Dark Knight's encounter with a man byu the name of Frank Sharp. Frank Sharp's an exceptionally ugly man who has the ability to make people do whatever he wants just by shaking their hand. Sharp's out to make a name for himself in the world of Gotham's crime and politics arenas... and it's gonna be up to the Dark Knight to put an end to him.

THIRD EYE STAFF PICKS
Steve - VENOM #1 - Damn, first Remender gives us UNCANNY X-FORCE, which quickly became one of my top Marvel faves, and now he does it again with Venom. Whether you're a VENOM fan, or not, YOU NEED TO READ THIS. Awesome stuff.

Trish - 27 #4 - Kick-ass series, if you haven't read this one, and you're big into music or conspiracy stories, you need to check this out.

TORMA - BATMAN AND ROBIN #21 - Starting with issue #20, Batman and Robin once again became a must-read series. The best it's been since the first couple of Morrison arcs, this new series about a mysterious new villain who's killing off the family members of assorted Arkham Inmates has me hooked.
