THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS @ THIRD EYE COMICS FOR WEDNESDAY 7/27/11

AMAZING SPIDERMAN #666 featuring THIRD EYE COMICS on the Cover- SPIDER ISLAND BEGINS THIS WEDNESDAY & THIRD EYE MAKES A CAMEO!

Join Us This Wednesday for SPIDEY DAY!
asm6663rd

Dude, for obvious reasons, we are stoked. However, we're even more stoked because not only did we get a nice little guest spot on the cover of an issue of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, but it just so happens to be the biggest issue of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN to hit the shop in a very long time. So, yeah, we're more than a little excited here.

This is a pretty historic event, and never one to pass up a great opportunity to have some fun, we're going to be having SPIDEY DAY this Wednesday at Third Eye! We'll be doing loads of special promotions, be having a special sale on SPIDER-MAN and SPIDER-MAN related trade paperbacks and hardcovers, and of course, kicking off the launch of SPIDER ISLAND with the THIRD EYE AMAZING SPIDERMAN #666 cover.

For more information on the Third Eye Spidey Day event, click here.

Now, moving on, lets talk... SPIDER ISLAND. Spider Island officially kicks off this Wednesday in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #666, and, folks, we could not be more stoked. This is a storyline that's been brewing for almost a year, ever since Dan Slott came on board as the regular series writer of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (and damn, has it been good ever since or what?). This storyline is going to be the biggest Spiderman storyline since MAXIMUM CARNAGE, and is the PERFECT opportunity to jump on board with the title.

What is SPIDER ISLAND? Spider Island is the first major Spider-man storyline to rock the book in many years. It's a story so big that it will span the entire city of NEW YORK, and touch many heroes and villains that Spidey hasn't encountered in quite some time. But, most importantly, it's the grand return of some of Spidey's most deadly foes, and we all know that Spidey is only second to Batman when it comes to a kick-ass rogues gallery.

In a nutshell? Spider Island is a major storyline where all of Manhattan develops Spider-like powers, and all hell breaks loose, with no way out.

For the last few issues of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, we've seen some very odd things happening in New York City. It's almost been like an.. infestation. :) Ordinary people have been doing stuff that only Spider-man can do, climbing on walls, flipping around, and well, showing the proportionate strength of a Spider. :)

And, of course, bugs have been popping up EVERYWHERE. Creepy, right?

It's an epidemic, and everyone from civilians to super-villains are gaining powers and abilities similar to those that belong to Spider-Man. We've seen a new Sinister Six, we've seen a new Hobgoblin, we've seen Spidey lose his Spider-Sense, we've seen him end up on two super-teams, heck, he's even learned kung fu... how about a whole city of Spider-Men?

Why We're Stoked? Well, first of all, on a simple, base level the concept just has us hooked. It's the kind of straight-forward, and in-your-face idea that's so easy to explain that it just works. An entire city of Spider-Men? Bad guys shooting webs? Assorted New York-based heroes rocking Spider Powers? I mean, it just works. We're pumped.

But beyond that, we're also excited about the fact that this is kind of the big show piece of the amazing (no pun intended) run that writer Dan Slott has had on the book so far... and guess who the series artist is going to be for the full SPIDER ISLAND story arc? That's right, folks, Big Time originator, HUMBERTO RAMOS, who in our opinion is the BEST Spidey artist since the days of Mark Bagley and Mike Wieringo.

Another cool aspect of the storyline is the return of one of the classic Spidey villains, The Jackal, who we haven't seen much of at all since the days of the Clone Saga. And, as maligned as the Clone Saga was and is now, I have to admit, the Jackal was my favorite aspect of the entire storyline. Heck, I loved a lot of stuff from that era.. Ben Reilly, impact webbing, Kaine.. that was really the time I jumped into reading Spider-Man.

VILLAINS GALORE! We all know Spidey has a great Rogues gallery, so we're pumped to see that many of his classic villains are going to be getting the spotlight in Spider Island. Ranging from heavy-weights like Dock Ock and the Sinister Six to cult favorites like The Shocker and The Beetle, we're pumped for some Spidey villains!

All in all, Spider-Island is going to rock. It's a six issue arc that runs through the AMAZING SPIDER-MAN title, beginning with this week's prologue in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #666. We've put together a handy checklist that has the full scoop on all the Spider Island goodness for you. You can check it out by clicking here.

JOE HILL'S THE CAPE #1 (of 4) DEBUTS THIS WEDNESDAY, PICKING UP WHERE THE KILLER ONE-SHOT LEFT OFF. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR FANS OF KICK-ASS, IRREDEEMABLE, and THE BOYS.

Missed The One-Shot? We've Got Copies In Stock!

NO RELATION TO THE TV SHOW! :)

thecape1a

This is one we've been very excited about, and feel like it has potential to really be a huge title this summer. The original one-shot that came out earlier this year, and totally blew us away.

It's very much a dark story focusing on the darker nature of individuals with super-powers, and reminds us a lot of stories like IRREDEEMABLE, and KICK-ASS, in terms of it's tone, and it's real world approach to fictional characters.

The story of a young man who grows up to be a failure. Can't keep a job, can't keep a girl, can't even keep sober, and then one day, he discovers his make-believe super-hero cape.. and can fly. And, what happens next is one of the DARKEST endings to a comic we've ever seen. You have to read it to believe it.

Imagine one of millions of the disenfranchised and disgruntled people in the world who all of the sudden discovered they had the power of a god.

And, before I say too much and ruin some of the awesome surprises, I'll stop myself, but I will say this: THE CAPE is a MUST-READ, Third Eye Faithful.

Missed the original one-shot issue? We've got plenty in stock this week to prepare you for the first issue of the new series!

FLASHPOINT WEDNESDAY: FLASHPOINT PROJECT SUPERMAN #2 LEADS THE CHARGE WITH ANOTHER ROUND OF KILLER FLASHPOINT TIE-IN ISSUES

flashpointprojectsuperman2

It's another kick-ass week for FLASHPOINT, as the highly anticipated second issue of FLASHPOINT PROJECT SUPERMAN leads the charge. We loved the eerie first issue of this one by the rising superstar SCOTT SNYDER (DC RELAUNCH BATMAN, SWAMP THING, and currently AMERICAN VAMPIRE), as it delivered some major insights into the events of FLASHPOINT, as well as some tidbits about the upcoming DC RELAUNCH (if you read between the lines a bit).

Missed the first issue? We've got copies, along with buttons in stock to hook you up.

Click here for a preview of FLASHPOINT PROJECT SUPERMAN #2

flashpointhaljordan2

Now, never mind the fact that we're massive Green Lantern fanboys here at Third Eye. Beyond that, we just think the Hal Jordan FLASHPOINT tie-in is plain awesome. We see a world where Hal has never gotten the ring, and is instead still a pilot. However, in this second one a twist on the Jordan character enters the mix, and well, lets just say it makes this one go from good tie-in to AWESOME tie-in.

Missed issue #1? We've got copies, along with the insignia buttons in stock to hook you up!

Click here for a preview of FLASHPOINT HAL JORDAN #2

flashpointkidflash2

Another favorite spinning out of FLASHPOINT has been the FLASHPOINT KID FLASH series. Sterling Gates does a great job of using the Kid Flash series to explore the world of The Flash in regards to FLASHPOINT, and we see him exploring the deteriorating relationship between Bart and Barry that was seen in recent issues of Geoff Johns's FLASH series.

Missed the first one? We've got copies of #1 (and buttons) in stock to get you hooked up!

Click here for a preview of FLASHPOINT KID FLASH #2

flashpointloislane2

And, then finally, rounding out the FLASHPOINT line-up is the FLASHPOINT LOIS LANE AND THE RESISTANCE #2, which I'm totally stoked for after finding out that GRIFTER is involved with the Resistance. This tie-in is huge in significance, just for the way that it's beginning the integration of the Wildstorm characters into the mainline DCU for the upcoming DC RELAUNCH. Plus, it's a damn good read with Abnett and Lanning writing.

Missed #1? We've got copies, and buttons in stock to hook you up.

X-MEN SCHISM #2 - THE SECOND ISSUE OF THE BIGGEST X-MEN STORYLINE IN YEARS HAS ARRIVED! WE HAVEN'T BEEN THIS EXCITED ABOUT X-MEN SINCE WHEDON'S ASTONISHING X-MEN RUN

xmenschism2
The second issue of X-MEN SCHISM hits this week, and folks, I'm telling you: I haven't been this excited about the follow-up issue of an X-MEN title in YEARS. This has got me PUMPED, and I cannot wait to get my hands on this one and see what's next after so many shocking returns and revelations in X-MEN SCHISM #1.

Jason Aaron is really bringing his A-Game with the writing on this one, and is delivering some of the sharpest characterization, snappiest dialogue, and most compelling plotting that we've seen in an X-MEN book in years. I'm saying it right now: SCHISM is going to be every bit as compelling as modern classics like Whedon's ASTONISHING X-MEN, Grant Morrison's NEW X-MEN, and Yost's MESSIAH COMPLEX trilogy.

The story of SCHISM, of course, is leading up to a huge rift that will be appearing between Cyclops and Wolverine, causing the X-MEN to split in two, with one half of the team rallying behind Wolverine, and the other half behind Cyclops.

And, oh, we think Cyclops is going to be turning totally bad. And, it makes sense, 'cause they've been leading up to a heel turn for Cyclops for a long time. From the formation of X-FORCE, to the more militant stance he's made as leader of the X-MEN, Cyclops has becoming closer to Magneto than he has Charles Xavier, in terms of a vision for mutant kind.

But, don't let that be the only thing that grabs you about SCHISM, because there's so much more awesomeness that awaits.

The first issue really had it all: old school sentinels, the Hellfire Club, and the return of Quentin Quire, the Omega-Level mutant from GRANT MORRISON'S NEW X-MEN (available in trade paperback as NEW X-MEN by GRANT MORRISON ULTIMATE COLLECTION 1-3), who is every bit as nasty as he was when he tried to lead an uprising against the Xavier institute.

At it's core though, the draw of SCHISM is something that appeals to us on our most base fanboy level: CYCLOPS vs. WOLVERINE. :) How can you not get stoked about that?

Missed #1? We've got copies in stock to catch you up.

ALAN MOORE RETURNS THIS WEDNESDAY WITH THE NEXT INSTALLMENT OFLEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN IN LEAGUE: CENTURY 1969

We Cannot Wait!

loeg1969

No matter how crazy ol' Alan Moore gets, I still love nearly everything he writes. The man can do no wrong in my eyes, and in all honesty, his LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN series are some of my favorite works of his. I'd stack these books against Moore heavyweights like V FOR VENDETTA, WATCHMEN and KILLING JOKE any day of the week.

For those of you unfamiliar with LEAGUE, it's a series of comics that explores the world's first "super-team", by using fictional characters from various books, comics, movies, and television shows, and in the process, putting together some of the wildest storytelling ever. If you've never read the series, I cannot recommend picking up the first volume in trade paperback enough, 'cause folks, it's just plain good comics.

The core of League has always focused on certain characters, like Mina Harker (post-Dracula, and now a vampire), Quartermain (who ends up joining Mina in immortality), and Captain Nemo. However, there's always been focus cast onto many other characters, ranging from the Invisible Man and Mr. Hyde to James Bond and Emma Peel (from the Avengers).

The current storyline of LEAGUE is a 3-part trilogy which wraps up Alan Moore's LEAGUE stories once and for all, and is so far, his most ambitious work. If you missed out on the first installment, we do have it in stock, with LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN CENTURY 1910, a fantastic re-introduction to the world of League set in 1910, and loaded with references to Alesteir Crowley, and more.

Now, moving ahead several years, passing the '50s era of the BLACK DOSSIER (which introduced us to a despicable man known to us as Mr. James Bond, in his early days), we enter the era of the '60s, and Moore looks to be pulling from all sorts of fiction of that time period. From the shocks of ROSEMARY'S BABY to the song lyrics of The Rolling Stones, Moore continues to weave his story.

Oh, and what is the primary story? Basically, crazed cultists trying to bring about the birth of an anti-christ, and Moore's LEAGUE has to stop them.

League 1969 is a crazy mix of '60s British organized crime, mixed with the counter-culture cultists of the hippie generation, and in the middle of it.. many of history's greatest fictional characters.

Again, I can't recommend the series enough, so if you've never read, jump on board and find out why we're such huge fans.

BRIGHTEST DAY AFTERMATH: THE SEARCH FOR SWAMP THING #2 - THE ROAD TO THE DC RELAUNCH CONTINUES AS THE AFTERMATH OF BRIGHTEST DAY IS EXPLORED

brightestdayaftermath2

As we see more and more come out about the upcoming DC RELAUNCH, we can really see how Geoff Johns's BRIGHTEST DAY maxi-series was a fantastic build-up and preparation for the upcoming RELAUNCH. Many of the characters that look to be prominent in the relaunch were really developed into fascinating characters during BRIGHTEST DAY, ranging from Firestorm and Hawkman to Deadman, and.. Swamp Thing. :)

And, now, in this 3-part limited series, the DCU preps for the DC NEW 52, and sets the stage as we explore the aftermath of BRIGHTEST DAY.

Every bit as good as the BRIGHTEST DAY series, we are loving the heck out of BRIGHTEST DAY AFTERMATH, and it's keeping us on the edge of our seats.

In the first issue, we saw how John Constantine of Hellblazer fame is being integrated into the regular DCU, as well as the same with Swamp Thing. It's pretty awesome to just see Constantine walking and talking in the DC UNIVERSE again after many years of being kept separate.

Missed the first issue? We've got copies in stock to catch you up to this week's #2.

UNCANNY X-FORCE #12 - THE DARK ANGEL SAGA CHAPTER 2 - One of Marvel's Best Titles Continues As the Uncanny X-Force Ventures Into the AGE OF APOCALYPSE

uncannyxforce12

Dude. Uncanny X-Force. Top 5 Marvel Title. Seriously. Remender has been working magic on this book since issue #1, and it's a book that continues to grow in popularity, with those early issues lighting up the back market, and with the current run turning this title into one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer.

The beauty of Remender's run on UNCANNY X-FORCE is how streamlined it is. It's a kick-ass X-MEN comic that's got the perfect blend of character development, and high action that makes it hard to put down, and THE DARK ANGEL SAGA is the perfect storyline to jump on board with.

Starting with it's prologue in UNCANNY X-FORCE #10 (in stock at Third Eye now), the DARK ANGEL SAGA is the story of how Arch Angel is slowly slipping into his DEATH persona, and succumbing to his former master, Apocalypse, whether he's dead or alive.

And, the Uncanny X-Force must venture into the alternate reality known as the AGE OF APOCALYPSE to find a cure for their friend before he once again becomes the Dark Angel.

I can't stress enough how much we enjoy this book, and if you're not reading it, I'm telling you, jump on board with the DARK ANGEL SAGA and find out why it's so good.

We've got issues the Prologue as well as Chapter 1 of the DARK ANGEL SAGA in stock and available now to get you caught up to this week's #12. Hop aboard, and find out why we love this series.

CRIMINAL: THE LAST OF THE INNOCENT #2 - One Of Our Personal Favorites Continues This Wednesday - THE BEST CRIME COMIC YOU'LL EVER READ. PERIOD.

criminallast2

Criminal, is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of my favorite comics. It always is, and hot damn, as long as Brubaker's putting it out, it always will be. I've never been let down by CRIMINAL, and I've always been surprised with a new storyline that's every bit as compelling as the one before it.

What is CRIMINAL? CRIMINAL is a series of modern day crime noir stories told in mini-series format, where each mini-series stands on it's own as a self-contained story but exists in the same world as the other stories. It's a beautiful way of telling a story, because you'll see characters come and go, like background characters in CRIMINAL, and then show up in future stories as prominent leads.

And, every single installment of CRIMINAL is as soul-shattering as it is good. This is true noir set in the here and now, with bleak endings, and a never-ending cycle of violence, greed, and despair.

Brubaker was born to write this kind of stuff, and Sean Phillips (series artist) was born to draw it. The two combine to bring the perfect mood, perfect atmosphere, and perfect tone to a good crime story.

Anyways, LAST OF THE INNOCENT is the most recent CRIMINAL series and tells the story of a one-time All-American kind of guy caught in a brutal murder and a double-cross that may be the only way to escape the trap that his life has become.

Living up to the track record of CRIMINAL, this one delivers again and again.

Never read CRIMINAL? Jump on board with LAST OF THE INNOCENT #1, which is a great entry point to the series, and find out what you've been missing. We've also got the past series available in trade paperback.

Missed #1? We've got plenty in stock to catch you up here at Third Eye.

THE AFTERMATH OF THE WAR OF THE GREEN LANTERNS CONTINUES THIS WEDNESDAY IN GREEN LANTERN CORPS #62 and GREEN LANTERN EMERALD WARRIORS #12

glcorps62

The conclusion of WAR OF THE GREEN LANTERNS was a HUGE shocker, and has got us totally amped for the upcoming GREEN LANTERN series due out later this year. In the meantime, we're stoked to keep following the events and fallout of the shocking revelation in GL #67 in the pages of GREEN LANTERN CORPS #62, EMERALD WARRIORS #12 and WAR OF THE GL AFTERMATH.

You can imagine that there's many factions within the Corps that aren't happy with what happened at the end of the War, and this is where we see where the future of the Corp is headed, and also is the big lead up to the upcoming DC RELAUNCH of GL and the other titles.

Missed out on the WAR OF THE GL? We've got all the chapters in stock, so come on by and get caught up.

CAPTAIN AMERICA AND BUCKY #620MARKS THE DEBUT OF A BRAND NEW DIRECTION FOR CAP... A MUST-READ.

THE HISTORY OF CAPTAIN AMERICA EXPLORED!

capandbucky620

Now here's a series I'm stoked for. I fell in love with Chris Samnee's artwork on THOR THE MIGHTY AVENGER, with the clean lines and JACK KIRBY-esque energy that he brought to each page and each panel. And, when I heard that Cap would be going in a new direction exploring the definitive history of Captain America and Bucky in killer throwback tales told from Bucky Barnes's point of view, I totally got stoked.

Why? 'Cause A) Ed Brubaker's handling the writing chores, and he's pretty much proven he is THE MAN when it comes to writing Cap, and B) Chris Samnee on a monthly book! How awesome is that? I'm serious, folks, this guy is GOOD, and I guarantee that in time, he's going to be one of those names to watch. His style is so unique, and so crisp among many of today's artists that it really stands out.

Anyways, CAPTAIN AMERICA and BUCKY begins this Wednesday in CAPTAIN AMERICA & BUCKY #620. Hop aboard, and find out why we think Chris Samnee rocks.

SPONTANEOUS #1 & SPONTANEOUS #2 ARRIVE THIS WEDNESDAY FROM ONI PRESS DELIVERING A COMPELLING THRILLER ABOUT SPONTANEOUS HUMAN COMBUSTION

spontaneous1

Here's another one that originally debuted as a FREE COMIC BOOK DAY teaser, and really caught our eye with it's intriguing premise, and eerie setting.

The series is about the town of Bayville, which has recently been the home to a lot of unexplained deaths by fire. There's always some sort of reason given, an explanation that most people can accept, but a young man named Melvin sees beyond and see what isn't explained. His father was a victim of spontaneous human combustion, and he thinks all of these other peoples have been victims a well.

From there, we're taken into a very fascinating conspiracy theory that throws clues our way which show us that it could be ANYTHING, ranging from the supernatural to the industrial, there's foul play afoot, and it's obvious.

We loved the first issue of this new indie gem, and recommend snagging #1 and #2 this week to give it a shot. Very good stuff.

CROSSED: PSYCHOPATH #4 HITS THIS WEDNESDAY DELIVERING ANOTHER TERRIFYING INSTALLMENT OF SURVIVAL HORROR

crossedx

Okay, so it's official, there are no CROSSED covers I can run in the newsletter anymore, haha. They are all completely over-the-top (and that's why we love 'em), so in the meantime, you get the iconic CROSSED face dude. :)

Anyways, you guys know we love CROSSED, and as long-time horror fans, we're stoked to have a book that delivers such an extreme take on the survival horror genre. Imagine the horrors of WALKING DEAD turned up to 11, and that sums up CROSSED in a nutshell.

The plot of each different CROSSED story centers around various survivors of the CROSSED epidemic, and how they're trying to survive in a world where nearly all of civilization has been infected with a disease that turns them into pure evil, and reduces them to their most horrible instincts.

The difference between the CROSSED and regular zombies? CROSSED can think, they can plot, and they can plan, which makes them infinitely more dangerous than any zombie brain-eater you can think of.

PSYCHOPATH continues the trend of pushing the envelope, as we're shown the story of a survivor who he himself was just as bad as the CROSSED before things fell apart, and what, and where he's headed in a world that may be worse than him.

An awesome series, if you've missed earlier installments, we've got issues 1-3 in stock to catch you up. We've also got the CROSSED trade paperback, as well as all the back issues of CROSSED FAMILY VALUES.

Click here to add CROSSED PSYCHOPATH to your subscription list.

VENOM #5 *SPIDER ISLAND TIE-IN* - Rick Remender (of UNCANNY X-FORCE fame) and Tony Moore's (WALKING DEAD) new VENOM ongoing keeps rocking as it leads into SPIDER ISLAND this Wednesday

venom5

We are TOTALLY loving the new VENOM series from Marvel, and just like he's been doing on UNCANNY X-FORCE, Rick Remender is seriously working some mojo on this one by making it one of the coolest, and most entertaining reads on the stands. And, Tony Moore on art? Dude, don't get us started, we cannot praise Moore's work enough, and he is a perfect fit for the new Venom ongoing series.

And, this Wednesday, is a perfect chance to give this title a shot, as it is the first of the official SPIDER ISLAND tie-ins hitting the shop.

Haven't read VENOM at all? Okay, first off: it's not Eddie Brock. Nope. See, Flash Thompson was without direction until the US government stepped in and made him an offer he couldn't refuse: get to be SPIDER-MAN. Yes, a federally employed Spider-Man, but Spider-Man nonetheless. And, Flash, presented with the chance to live out his dream.. he went for it.

Now, he's stuck with a vicious symbiote that if he loses control of, will have him munching down on brains and all sorts of craziness.

This week in VENOM #5, the series leads directly into the new SPIDER ISLAND storyline that's spanning the AMAZING SPIDER-MAN title. And, Venom must team up with the Amazing Spider-Man himself, to help one another survive Spider Island.

Missed earlier issues of VENOM? We've got all the back issues in stock and available to hook you up.

ATOMIC ROBO VOLUME 5 DEADLY ART OF SCIENCE TRADE PAPERBACK IN STORE THIS WEDNESDAY

atomicrobotp5

Man, do we love us some ATOMIC ROBO or what. This series is the BOMB, and never fails to impress us here at Third Eye. I mean, when you've got a Tesla-invented robot fighting giant monsters, clobbering Nazis, and making jokes the entire time, you gotta love it.

Anyone who is a fan of stuff like THE GOON or HELLBOY, should definitely check out ATOMIC ROBO, as it delivers the same kind of fun, humor, and compelling storytelling as those.

This week, the fifth ATOMIC ROBO trade arrives, with the DEADLY ART OF SCIENCE, where we see the story of a young Robo who yearns for more adventures beyond those taught to him by his creator, Nikolai Tesla. Meanwhile, a mad scientist's quest for immortality puts all of Manhattan in danger.

Totally fun, and totally awesome, if you've never read ATOMIC ROBO, snag Volume 1 this Wednesday.

MATT FRACTION & OLIVIER COIPIEL CONTINUE TO BLOW OUR MINDS WITH MIGHTY THOR THIS WEDNESDAY INMIGHTY THOR #4

mightythor4

There's some comics that, to us, just totally and utterly symbolize what we think of when we think MARVEL COMICS. Just like there's comics that embody Image, and DC Comics, there's ones that you just look at and go.. that's a Marvel Comic. And, among their ranks, are books like Hickman's recent FF run, and of course, Fraction's current MIGHTY THOR title.

Dude, we are in love with this series, as it shows us what I think many fans have been wanting for quite some time: a big, bold Thor story set in the heart of the Marvel Universe, featuring some of the biggest characters in Marvel's library, and showcasing some of the most amazing artwork in comics by Coipiel.

The current story arc has been a great entry point for anyone looking for a really killer Thor series to jump on board with, and every page of Coipel's amazing artwork has us coming back for more and more.

In issue #4, Odin's prepping an assault team of Gods to wage war on Galactus. Seriously. And, Thor must throw down with the Silver Surfer himself as Volstagg and Kid Loki are left in charge of watching over the remains of Asgard. What could go wrong, right?

Missed issues 1-3? We've got copies of each in stock and available to get you hooked up.

TERMINATOR vs. ROBOCOP: KILL HUMAN #1 BRINGS BACK THE ULTIMATE IN '90s ACTION AWESOMENESS... TERMINATOR VS ROBOCOP

termocop

Terminator. Robocop. Both amazing things, right? And, when you put them together? Pure comic and action movie bliss, right? Well, at the very least, an awesome guilty pleasure filled with loads of carnage, cool tech, and explosions. What more could you want?

This one makes me personally very nostalgic, 'cause I remember as a kid collecting every single one of the Terminator vs. Robocop comics, and heck, even playing the Sega Genesis game back in the day. And, it was epic. I loved every second of it.

So, to see the whole idea of Terminator vs. Robocop making a come back? Well, I'm stoked.

What's the plot? In the distant future, Robocop is awakened from a long hibernation, and learns quickly that he's one of the last remaining humans left to be hunted down by Skynet. But he's not going out easy at all.

FF #7- ANOTHER KILLER ISSUE OF HICKMAN'S FF HITS THIS WEDNESDAY AS BLACK BOLT TAKES HIS KINGDOM BACK BY FORCE

ff7

I sound like a broken record as much as I talk about how awesome Hickman's FF run has been, but it seriously is some of the best stuff going right now. And, this Wednesday marks another installment of Hickman's killer FUTURE FOUNDATION run. And, folks, once again, he delivers the goods.

I won't ramble on, and on about how awesome the series is, since we've already been over that, but I will say this: if you're a Marvel fan, and not reading FF, you need to snag the first few issues and give it a shot. We've got 1-6 in stock and available now to get you started. Folks, you'll love it.

skullkickers9

Folks, we've neglected our duty. It's been a couple of issues since we've hyped up one of our favorite IMAGE titles currently hitting the stands. That's right, Skullkickers is one of the best things going right now from Image, and if you're not reading it, you gotta remedy that!

Imagine THE HANGOVER meets WORLD OF WARCRAFT, and that sums up the world of SKULLKICKERS quite nicely. It's a fully realized fantasy world that pops with amazing artwork, and a snappy story.

And, this week, the 9th issue delivers more of the over-the-top hack and slash slapstick violence, and hilarious banter.

AVENGERS ACADEMY PERMANENT RECORD TRADE PAPERBACK HITS THIS WEDNESDAY. ONE OF MARVEL'S BEST KEPT SECRETS, A MUST FOR FANS OF RUNAWAYS & SIMILAR SERIES.

avengersacademypermanent1

One of Marvel's best kept secrets in 2011 has been the series AVENGERS ACADEMY, from ABSOLUTION writer CHRISTOS GAGE and the stellar artistry of Mike McKone. This is the kind of series that is often overlooked due to preconceptions. 'Cause on the surface, it looks and sounds lame, right? I mean, the name is kind of lame, and we all know those teenage super teams never seem to click, right?

Well, just like YOUNG AVENGERS and RUNAWAYS have proven those preconceptions wrong in the past, so does AVENGERS ACADEMY, which is one of the best Marvel titles you're not reading.

The big hook of the series is that the kids who make up the next class of Avengers are also the same kids that Norman Osborn had terrorized, and tortured during his stay of power, to mold them into his image. And, they discover very quickly that they weren't chosen to be Avengers because they're destined to be heroes, but instead, to be kept close so they don't grow up to be the next Masters of Evil.

And, from there, we're taken on a compelling, and complex journey through these 6 aspiring Avengers stories. Some of these characters seem to yearn for their darker side, while others are conflicted, and desire something better.

The twists and turns of the series are amazing, and Gages's writing is on a whole new kind of plane. We love the series, love the writing, love the art, and if you're looking for something new to try, we cannot recommend this one enough.

DYNAMITE'S WARLORD OF MARS SERIES CONTINUES IN WARLORD OF MARS FALL OF BARSOOM #1 THIS WEDNESDAY

fallofbarsoom1

Dynamite has done a freakin' awesome job of chronicling the adventures of John Carter, the Warlord of Mars in their WARLORD OF MARS and WARLORD OF MARS: DEJAH THORIS series, and now, this Wednesday, they're adding a new title to the Warlord of Mars line with the FALL OF BARSOOM.

Warlord of Mars: Fall of Barsoom explores a story set 100,000 years before the time of John Carter. Barsoom is a dying world: it's once mighty oceans are receding and its atmosphere grows more tenuous by day. The Greene Hordes and emerging Red Martians are about to drive the Orovars to extinction. It's up to two Orovars - a scientist and a General - to save their people before Mars plunges into barbarism.

A true prequel and origin story, this one looks awesome.

SUPERGODS: WHAT MASKED VIGILANTES, MIRACULOUS MUTANTS, AND SUN GODS FROM SMALLVILLE CAN TEACH US ABOUT BEING HUMAN

Books without pictures? Seriously? :) All kidding aside, we're really stoked about this one. We've heard the rave reviews on it, and it sounds amazing.

What is it? Well, acclaimed comic writer, GRANT MORRISON, has put together an ENTIRE book that literally dissects the origins, motives, purposes, and impact of superheroes in regards to how they impact us in the modern every day world.

And, it's amazing. Many stories related to his comic writing, as well as many essays on various characters, it's just a really interesting read for any comic fan.

Pick up a copy this Wednesday, and find out why we're totally stoked about this one.

WOLVERINE AND DEADPOOL: THE DECOY ONE-SHOT DELIVERS A RIDICULOUS OVER-THE-TOP WOLVERINE / DEADPOOL TEAM-UP THIS WEDNESDAY

wolverinedeadpooldecoy

You know, DEADPOOL stories are always a guilty pleasure, and what you want out of a good deadpool story is pretty much one thing: ridiculousness. Total ridiculousness. And, this one-shot hitting the shop this Wednesday looks to be the most ridiculous DEADPOOL story in a minute, as it shows us Deadpool and Wolverine going drinking with a 15 foot robot, and well, all hell breaks loose.

Plus, Phoenixpool on the cover is awesome.

STAFF PICKS

STEVE: DAREDEVIL #1 - I've always been a HUGE Daredevil fan, especially of a short yet awesome run by Karl Kesel and Cary Nord way back when, and that's what this reminded me of. A very cool, slightly light-hearted take on the character with art very reminiscent of Tim Sale.

TRISH: WALKING DEAD #87- AH! I have to wait another month for the next one? God this one kills me! But I love it so much!

TORMA: WAR OF GREEN LANTERNS AFTERMATH #1 - The new GL titles are looking so good, that I'll take every bit of info tossed my way, and the AFTERMATH mini is a great way to lead into the new ones.

TONY (PRINCE FREDERICK): WITCH DOCTOR #2 - Outside of Chew and Walking Dead, this might be my favorite new Image series. Really good and evenbetter than the first.
