This Week's Highlights at Third Eye Comics for Wednesday 3/21/12

SUPERCROOKS #1 DEBUTS THIS WEDNESDAY FROM MARK MILLAR (superstar writer of KICK-ASS, OLD MAN LOGAN, NEMESIS, SUPERIOR, and more!) and LEINIL YU (SUPERIOR) – AND IT’S FREAKIN’ AWESOME!
Dude, this book is freakin’ off-the-chain good. Mark Millar always knows how to get us hooked, and with just the first issue of SUPERCROOKS, we’re in love with a brand new Millarworld series.
First off: Millar’s a talented, talented creator. He’s got a knack for delivering sharp dialogue, clever plotting, and the kind of pacing that really brings a cinematic, dynamic feel to a comic book.
Now, paired up with the very talented Leinil Yu, who is, by far, one of the best comic book artists working in the biz right now, MILLAR is serving up one heck of a read.
In the grand tradition of his past hits like SUPERIOR, NEMESIS, and KICK-ASS, Millar brings that post-modern sense of excitement and dark humor to the world of super-heroes in a very neat way that really spins a cool twist on the whole thing.
So, what’s the scoop on SUPERCROOKS?
When the market is flooded with competition and the authorities are always on your tail, what’s the All-American Super-Villain to do?
Go to Spain, of course! In a world where superheroes are literally in every major city of the U.S, and amateur super-villains are always in the way, a handful of the world’s most skilled super-villains decide to pack their bags, and venture to a brand new land to pull off one last heist that will have them sitting pretty for life.
A little bit of Oceans 11, a little bit of the themes explored in KICK-ASS, NEMESIS, and OLD MAN LOGAN, and a whole lot of ultra-violent, totally killer super-hero gone wrong madness, SUPERCROOKS is a MUST-READ, Third Eye Faithful.
Make sure you snag issue #1 this Wednesday, and hop on board.

AVENGERS: X-SANCTION #4 - THE ROAD TO AVENGERS VS X-MEN ENDS HERE, PAVING THE WAY FOR MARVEL’S BIGGEST EVENT IN AGES! A MUST-READ!
SNAG 1-4 THIS WEEK AT THIRD EYE IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY!
The countdown to AVENGERS VS. X-MEN is coming to it’s end, and it all sets off here. In this one issue: nothing will be the same. The final shots are fired, and everything that follows this will be pure mayhem as two of the most popular, most iconic super-teams in comic book history throw down for the first time ever.
In terms of quality, X-SANCTION turned out to be one of the biggest breakout surprises of the year for Marvel, as Jeph Loeb (writer of BATMAN HUSH, LONG HALLOWEEN) returns to his roots, and tells the kind of action-packed, non-stop superhero blockbuster that you want from him, and Ed McGuinness brings us page after kick-ass page of awesomeness, making this book look as good as it reads.
Totally recommended, X-SANCTION is not only a crucial lead in to the AVENGERS VS X-MEN event, but a fantastic read on it’s own merit.
Plus… we’ve still got some of those X-SANCTION #1 covers left that carry the Third Eye logo. :)
Seriously though, if you’re pumped for AvX, and haven’t read X-SANCTION yet, we highly recommend scooping up 1-4 this week.
The story behind this one is basically: Cable has to kill the AVENGERS. And he’s only got 24 hours to do it. See, he sees that in the future, something is going to happen to Hope.. something that’s got to do with the AVENGERS.. and he’s gonna kill every single last one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to protect her.
Of course, you know, everything will be going horribly wrong… and.. well, lets not say too much, ’cause the series hasn’t wrapped yet. :) All we know is that the way this one ends is a definitive set-up for AvX #0.
Wanna jump on board? We’ve got issues 1-3 in stock now to catch you up to this Wednesday’s #4.

JUSTICE LEAGUE #7 – THE FLAGSHIP DC NEW 52 ENTERS NEW TERRITORY AND FEATURES THE DEBUT OF THE ALL-NEW SHAZAM! A NEW 52 FIRST!
JUSTICE LEAGUE has done an amazing job of holding it’s own as the DC NEW 52′s top dog, and it continues to do so this Wednesday with it’s 7th stellar issue. Folks, I say it every time we see a new issue of JUSTICE LEAGUE, and I’ll say it again: this series is downright incredible. The best of the mainstream superhero titles, JUSTICE LEAGUE delivers issue after issue of top notch, hyper-kinetic action featuring the heavyweights of the DC UNIVERSE.
Set five to ten years in the past of the present day DC Universe, JUSTICE LEAGUE serves as a great way to re-imagine, re-develop, and re-establish the origins of not just the League itself, but the DC UNIVERSE as a whole.
In just the first 6-issue arc, we’ve seen the formation of the JUSTICE LEAGUE as we know it, we’ve seen the landscape of how the NEW 52 was when the superheroes first emerged, and… we’ve seen DARKSEID! That’s quite an opening, wouldn’t you say?
Now, moving ahead, GEOFF JOHNS (the DC mastermind behind big stories like BRIGHTEST DAY, BLACKEST NIGHT, and most recently, AQUAMAN of the NEW 52) is taking us into brand new territory, as hints of Bizarro’s first JLA encounter begin to surface… we’re intrigued. :)
PLUS: This issue features the debut of the DC NEW 52 take on SHAZAM! How freakin’ cool is that? We’ve always said that DC needed to do something killer with Captain Marvel, and we love the new look and approach to the character. Make sure you snag this week’s JUSTICE LEAGUE #7 to get the full scoop on his origins, powers, and motivations.
Need issues 1-6 to get you caught up on JUSTICE LEAGUE? We’ve got copies in stock to catch you up to this week’s #7.

REBEL BLOOD #1 DEBUTS THIS WEDNESDAY BREATHING FRESH NEW LIFE INTO THE ZOMBIE GENRE WITH THE MOST EXCITING NEW SPIN ON HORROR COMICS WE’VE SEEN SINCE “WALKING DEAD” & “CROSSED”
RILEY ROSSMO’S ARTWORK DELIVERS BIG-TIME!
There’s been a resurgence in horror comics in the last few years, zombie comics especially, and not all of ‘em have been good, right? Well, Riley Rossmo and IMAGE COMICS are delivering one of the BEST we’ve seen in a hot minute with the kick-ass new IMAGE limited series, REBEL BLOOD.
While Riley Rossmo (COWBOY NINJA VIKING, GREEN WAKE) definitely brings something unique, and compelling with his trademark art style, it’s also the story that really helps make this one pop the way it does.
There’s a strong sense of psychological horror that compliments Rossmo’s grotesque zombie animal monstrosities perfectly.
The story centers around Chuck Neville, a former firefighter who struggles to pay his bills and keep his marriage together after an accident on the job puts him on the sidelines. Now, working as the dispatcher at Fire Tower 6, Neville is sprung into action when he receives a call that an infection is spreading a rabies-like disease across the area.
We’re talking zombie wolves, zombie raccoons, it’s a crazed wildlife zombie infection… and humans are not immune to it.
The plague ravages the town quick, and Rossmo brings every second of it to life in horrifying detail.
A strong sense of Silent Hill dread, zombie terror (ala DAWN OF THE DEAD, or WALKING DEAD), and just plain talented comic book storytelling make this one a must-read.

A HUGE NEW SPIDER-MAN STORY ARC AND A GREAT JUMPING ON POINT FOR THE SERIES BEGINS THIS WEDNESDAY WITH “ENDS OF THE EARTH” PART 1 IN AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #682
A MUST-READ! HOP ABOARD THIS ALREADY KILLER TITLE AS DOC OCK HOLDS THE EARTH HOSTAGE!
We’ve been big supporters of Dan Slott’s incredible work on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, and I have to tell you: he’s taking things into even more awesome territory with the upcoming ENDS OF THE EARTH storyline.
Last summer’s SPIDER ISLAND had us hooked, but this year, ENDS OF THE EARTH looks to really be delivering some epic storytelling spinning out of everything that Slott has built since he began his run with BIG TIME almost a year and a half ago.
This week’s AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #682 *ENDS OF THE EARTH CHAPTER 1* is a PERFECT place to jump on board the series, and give it a go. Very new reader friendly, while still keeping the tone, and continuity of the current run in place, ENDS OF THE EARTH is a huge storyline that brings us the SINISTER SIX like we’ve never seen them before… and at the heart of it:
It’s THE Doc Ock story you’ve been waiting for. There’s been some nice, steady build-up for Doctor Octopus as a character for a while now, and we’ve loved the increasingly vicious, and unhinged portrayal he’s been given.
And, now, in Ends of the Earth, along with the Sinister Six, Doc Ock is at Death’s door… but he’s going to hold the entire planet of Earth itself hostage.
What price will Spider-Man pay to save the fate of the planet itself?
Featuring the incredibly talented Stefano Caselli on artwork, and of course, Dan Slott handling the writing chores, we are totally stoked for ENDS OF THE EARTH.

BATMAN #7 – THE BEST BATMAN BOOK YOU’LL READ… PERIOD. SCOTT SNYDER AND GREG CAPULLO’S BATMAN is THE Bat-book to read!
Catch up this week with 1-7 in stock now!
Scott Snyder may be the best damn writer in comics today. NO. DOUBT. Seriously, whether it’s his kickin’ creator-owned horror series AMERICAN VAMPIRE, or his work on last year’s BATMAN: THE BLACK MIRROR, there’s no doubt that this man can write.
And, now, he’s serving up the goods in a major way with the incredible COURT OF OWLS story arc that’s been running through the flagship NEW 52 BATMAN title.
With big plans planned for the BATMAN ongoing, and with no sign of he or Capullo slowing down, Snyder is killing it page after page, and we’re loving every second of it.
Now, after barely surviving the onslaught of the Court of Owls, the Dark Knight enters the endgame as the Court prepares it’s deadliest attack yet.
The secrets revealed in this issue will change the world of Batman forever, and all hell breaks loose as Snyder’s BATMAN gets even better.
A pure masterpiece of comic book goodness, BATMAN is a MUST-READ, and rivals JUSTICE LEAGUE every month as our favorite of the DC NEW 52s.
Do NOT sleep on this book, Third Eye Faithful. Whether it’s Capullo’s perfect artwork, or Snyder’s masterful storytelling, this is THE Batman comic to read.
Need issues 1-6 to get you caught up to this week’s #7? We’ve got copies of each in stock to get you caught up.

SMOKE AND MIRRORS #1 DEBUTS THIS WEDNESDAY FROM IDW PUBLISHING (THE COMPANY THAT BROUGHT YOU LOCKE & KEY, THE CAPE, MEMORIAL AND MORE!)
If you loved THE PRESTIGE or THE ILLUSIONIST, YOU NEED TO READ THIS COMIC!
We’ve been pretty damn excited about this one for a while now, ever since we first saw the solicit info a few months ago.
A slick, cutting edge new creator-owned series from Mike Costa (writer of the highly under-rated COBRA series from IDW), SMOKE AND MIRRORS is a rad new series where a stage magician finds himself thrust into a world where magic — not technology — rules, and he learns pretty quickly that his old sleight of hand cons and tricks are quickly becoming his only way to survive in a world where magic tricks are a reality.
A must-read for fans of films like THE PRESTIGE, this series captures the gritty noir of Nolan’s PRESTIGE, as well as the fascinating world of stage magicians, and combines it into one killer dark fantasy that has us HOOKED.
Highly recommended, snag yourself a copy of issue #1 this Wednesday at Third Eye!

RICK REMENDER, writer of UNCANNY X-FORCE, serves up more ’90s revival awesomeness with his current run of Venom! Jump on board with the new VENOM BY RICK REMENDER VOL.1 TRADE PAPEBACK this Wednesday
Rick Remender’s VENOM run has been one of Marvel’s most amazing new projects in the last couple of years, delivering a freakin’ fresh, and fun take on the classic fan-favorite.
Featuring the artwork of Tony Moore, co-creator of the WALKING DEAD, and frequent Remender collaborator on stuff like FEAR AGENT, Rick Remender’s VENOM run is really a blast to read, and we haven’t ran into a disappointing issue yet.
A new Venom for a new era, is what the tagline says, and they’re right! Flash Thompson is Spider-Man’s biggest fan. That hero worship inspired him to enlist in the Army, where he became a decorated veteran and war hero. And though, he lost his legs, Flash never lost his dignity — or his desire to serve.
Now the government has  offered him a chance to be a hero once again – to don the alien symbiote that grants its wearer powers similar to those of Spider-Man, but also puts them at risk of permanently bonding with the parasitic creature.
Flash Thompson is Venom, the government’s most lethal special operative – sent into the hottest of hot zones against the worst enemies of the state. He’s fought tough foes before, but the toughest opponent he faces may just be himself.
We love the fantastic blend of bigger-than-life superhero action, ’90s nostalgia, and dynamic storytelling Remender brings to this series. In fact, if you’re a fan of his work on UNCANNY X-FORCE, we can almost guarantee you that you’ll love what he’s doing with VENOM. It’s the same kind of energy, the same kind of excitement, we love every second of it.
Plus, Tony Moore on artwork? Can you say hells yes? I love his work, and whether it’s those early defining issues of WALKING DEAD he delivered, or his work on FEAR AGENT and FRANKENCASTLE, the dude can DRAW.
Snag yourself a copy of VENOM by RICK REMENDER VOL.1 in trade paperback this Wednesday at Third Eye.

THE FUTURE OF THE DC UNIVERSE CONTINUES TO BE EXPLORED IN THIS WEEK’S BATMAN BEYOND UNLIMITED #2
WE’RE TOTALLY STOKED TO SEE BATMAN BEYOND BACK ON THE SHELVES!

We loved issue #1 of this one, and are pretty stoked to see the same level of quality storytelling, and killer artwork that was featured in the first two limited runs of BATMAN BEYOND.
Now, in a new ongoing series, BATMAN BEYOND UNLIMITED, not only explores the world of Terry McGinnis in the future, but also the world of the JUSTICE LEAGUE BEYOND. How rad is that?
In issue #2, one of Batman’s most explosive villains is back. And, in an effort to regain his status in the criminal underworld, he loses the one thing he loves best.. and now, everyone will pay the price for that
Meanwhile, the new JUSTICE LEAGUE BEYOND adventure continues, as the League goes in search of AWOL member Micron — who may or may not have gone native while investigating Kobra.
A larger, darker secret is about to be revealed.. and it could spell doom for Earth.. in the future!
A must-read for anyone who was a fan of BATMAN BEYOND back in the day, this new series captures the same energy and imagination of the original TV series, but with a slightly more mature, darker edge.
Very good stuff, Third Eye Faithful!

DOMINIQUE LAVEAU: VOODOO CHILD #1DEBUTS THIS WEDNESDAY FROM VERTIGO, DELIVERING A KILLER NEW READ THAT DELVES INTO THE UNDERWORLD OF VOODOO WITH A CRIME NOIR TWIST
Man, the new VERTIGO titles have been freakin’ GREAT. We’re seriously loving stuff like SAUCER COUNTRY and FAIREST, and are totally pumped to see just what DOMINIQUE LAVEAU delivers this Wednesday.
I will say after having read the extended preview of this one, I’m even more pumped, and feel that this could really be the surprise hit of the line.
Dominique Laveau is the story of an outcast and heir to the Voodoo Queenship of New Orleans, if she can live long enough to claim her birthright, that is. New Orleans is the most haunted city in America: a town of centuries-old ghosts and newly drowned spirits; where vampires, voodoo spirits and loups-garous make their home. Ruling over this all are the powerful Voodoo Queens, whose influence stretches into politics, business and crime as they maintain a delicate balance between the mortal and supernatural worlds.
But in the aftermath of Katrina, all that has changed, for someone or something has murdered the Voodoo Queen and most of her court. The number one suspect is Dominique Laveau, a grad student at Tulane who is about to discover that her entire life has been a lie. Now Dominique must forge alliances with those out to kill her while seeking to uncover the truth behind the royal murders, as she is ultimately forced to deal with a destiny she could never have imagined.
This brand new monthly series, from Selwyn Seyfu Hinds (former editor-in-chief of the Source magazine, and award-winning author), and Milestone co-founder Denys Cowan looks to be one of the most exciting new launches of the summer ,and we are stoked to see where it’s heading.

KICK-ASS 2 #7 CONCLUDES THE INCREDIBLE FOLLOW-UP SERIES TO MARK MILLAR’S ORIGINAL ULTRA-VIOLENT SUPERHERO SAGA!
AND IT’S A FANTASTIC ENDING!
We’re huge fans of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr’s ultra-violent, in-your-face take on real-world superheroes and super villains, KICK-ASS.
And, while the movie did a fine job of capturing the humor and clever storytelling of KICK-ASS, it doesn’t quite measure up to just how freakin’ great the comics are. There’s a real sense of madness and nihilism that runs through the comics that brings them an edge that makes KICK-ASS like nothing else on the stands.
A series that’s a must-read if you’re a fan of stuff like STRANGE TALENT OF LUTHER STRODE, THE BOYS, THE CAPE, and HELL YEAH, then you will love the heck out of KICK-ASS.
What’s the scoop on it? Well, if you haven’t read the series, here’s a quick rundown: a teenage comic fan decides to one day make superheroes real, buys a wetsuit on eBay, goes out in costume, and gets beaten half to death. But, that doesn’t deter him.. he heals up, goes out again, and ends up finding himself on video while getting the upper hand taking out some guys jumping a dude on the street.
And from there, the world of KICK-ASS is born, as copycat heroes and villains begin to emerge, and the blood flows in rivers.
Clever, quick-witted, and always entertaining, we can’t get enough of the series, and are totally stoked to see how this sequel wraps up.
Wanna get caught up? We’ve got the first trade paperback collecting KICK-ASS #1-6 in stock and available now. We’ve also got KICK-ASS 2 #1-6 in stock to catch you up to this week’s #7.

HEART #4 – THE CONCLUSION TO BLAIR BUTLER (G4TV) and KEVIN MELLON’S (LOVESTRUCK) MIXED MARTIAL ARTS-CHARGED DRAMA ARRIVES THIS WEDNESDAY
Need 1-3? We’ve gotcha covered!
Snag a THIRD EYE COMICS variant of HEART #1 (limited supplies left)
We have been huge fans of this killer new IMAGE series that began last year, and folks, we’re really hoping there’s more on the way, ’cause it was one of our biggest favorite IMAGE debuts of 2011.
HEART is a visceral, in-your-face rise and fall kind of story that reads like a mix of movies like Goodfellas and Warrior, with a bit of the post-modern office worker internal struggle as seen in flicks like FIGHT CLUB.
It’s a damn good read, and Blair Butler does an amazing job of putting together a compelling story that pulls you into it’s world. Even without knowledge of UFC or MMA, you’ll quickly get sucked into this one, as it’s a really great character piece, and the characterization is so strong it really immerses you in the story.
We’re also really high on Kevin Mellon’s artwork, as he brings a raw, visceral sense of kinetic action to the story that keeps it rocking and rolling all the way through.
What is HEART? Heart is the story of Oren, a young office drone who gives up his life in the cubicle to follow in his brother’s footsteps and go into cage-fighting. After getting lucky, and scoring his first win… all hell breaks loose for Oren, and he ends up in way over his head. From there, the story of HEART begins, and we’re shown just how quickly getting what you wished for can be the last thing you really need to happen.
Awesome, awesome stuff.

WONDER WOMAN #7 – BRIAN AZZARELLO (100 BULLETS, JOKER, FLASHPOINT BATMAN) and CLIFF CHIANG’S DC NEW 52 TAKE ON WONDER WOMAN IS QUICKLY BECOMING A FAVORITE
One of the NEW 52′s best kept secrets has been how damn great WONDER WOMAN has  turned out to be. I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a run of WONDER WOMAN this much since the Rucka / Jiminez, or short-lived Heinberg / Dodson runs.
Brian Azzarello, the writer behind classics like 100 BULLETS and JOKER, as well as the writer on the upcoming BEFORE WATCHMEN: COMEDIAN and BEFORE WATCHMEN: RORSCHAC, has been really bringing an interesting approach and dynamic to Wonder Woman and her world.
There’s a very cool, almost GOD OF WAR-esque greek myth and horror feel to the series, and we’re loving every second of it.
Now, going forward in this week’s #7, the myth of Orpheus resurfaces, as Wonder Woman finds someone she loves dearly in Hell’s clutches — and she’s the only one who can mount a rescue mission. But Hades has no mercy, even for his own family — in fact, especially for his own family — and he won’t let her walk out of his domain without paying a terrible price.
The combination of Greek myth, darker superhero storytelling, and Cliff Chiang’s stylized, incredible artwork has really turned this into a favorite.
Need issues 1-6? We’ve got copies of each in stock to catch you up to this week’s #7.

The Rocketeer is one of those things in comics that just NEVER get old, and last year, it was pretty darn awesome to see IDW bringing the epitome of what a pulp adventure hero is back to the world of comics with their ROCKETEER ADVENTURES series.
These fantastic, self-contained stories feature all-star comics talent bringing their own take to Dave Stevens’s classic high-flying pulp hero. Whether it’s the legendary ART ADAMS, or the always amazing DARWYN COOKE, this book is loaded with talent and Rocketeer awesomeness.

SAM HUMPHRIES, WRITER OF “SACRIFICE”, TAKES JOHN CARTER BACK TO BARSOOM INJOHN CARTER: GODS OF MARS #1 THIS WEDNESDAY
We’re not going to just pick a random John Carter book, and rain praise upon it, ya know? No, folks, this one is a freakin’ rager of a read, and it’s good from cover to cover.
And, why is it good? ‘Cause it’s written by one of comics fastest rising superstars, SAM HUMPHRIES, the writer of recent hits like SACRIFICE and OUR LOVE IS REAL.
Sam Humphries brings his knack for taking the extraordinary and bringing a clever, down-to-earth take to the situation to the world of WARLORD OF MARS with the new JOHN CARTER: THE GODS OF MARS series from Marvel.
After ten long years, John Carter finally returns to Barsoom. But, transporting planet to planet has it’s downsides, as Carter finds himself in the Valley Dor — the Land of the Dead.
Martian beasts? No problem. But, the Gods of Mars themselves? That may pose difficult.
Humphries is perfect for this book, and the art of Ramon Perez compliments his storytelling perfectly.
Take a chance, and snag yourself a copy of JOHN CARTER GODS OF MARS #1 this Wednesday. We think you’ll really dig it.

PROPHET CHAPTER 3 ARRIVES THIS WEDNESDAY, AND WE ARE STOKED! ONE OF OUR FAVORITE NEW SERIES, DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS KICK-ASS NEW IMAGE SERIES THAT READS LIKE CONAN THE DESTROYER IN SPACE
A TOTALLY UNIQUE COMIC EXPERIENCE
One of our favorite new series of 2012 has gotta be PROPHET. This stellar new IMAGE series delivers a truly unique read from two very talented creators: Brandon Graham and Simon Roy.
Half of Prophet’s appeal is the unique approach to storytelling and world-building that Graham brings to the book. There’s really an immersive quality to this that will appeal to anyone who’s a huge fan of games like FALLOUT or HALF-LIFE, and the addition of Simon Roy’s heavily European-inspired artwork really makes this one pop in a big way.
There’s also a very cool approach to narrative that Graham brings to the series, which is similar to what he did in King City, where he uses video game-style tricks (itemized inventory lists, world maps, stats, ect.) to help build the world of PROPHET.
So, who Is John Prophet? An enigmatic super-soldier, we’re introduced to Prophet when he first wakes, stumbling out of his space pod, and into a dystopian, future Earth where alien civilizations have grown, and mutant monstrosities roam the countryside.
And, now, in the third installment of Prophet, we’re introduced to the towers of Thauili Van. John Prophet learns that he must reach the G.O.D satellite by climbing up, all the way to the edge of earth’s atmosphere, past raging battles, crystalline beasts and bizarre alien technology. All the while fighting to stay ahead of the deadly hunter who pursues him.
Need the first two chapters? We’ve got ‘em both in stock to get you caught up to this week’s third installment.
Dude, all I can say is this: PROPHET KICKS ASS.
Read it!

THE STRANGE TALENT OF LUTHER STRODE #6 CONCLUDES THIS WEDNESDAY
One of our favorite series of 2011/2012 comes to it’s end this Wednesday, and folks: we’re already ready for the next one!
Seriously, this book was freakin’ great from start to finish, taking the dynamic of books like KICK-ASS, THE CAPE and the BOYS, and adding a new layer of character development and plot. In fact, while the bloodshed is there all the way through, this one has more in common with classic superhero origin stories like Spider-Man than it does KICK-ASS’s origins.
A very cool book, with some of the most best looking art in the biz, we highly recommend giving it a shot, either in single issues, or in trade paperback (which is due out in just a couple of weeks!).

STEPHEN KING & JOE HILL (LOCKE & KEY, THE CAPE) CONTINUE THEIR FATHER & SON TEAM-UP OF THE CARNAGE ON THE PAVEMENT SMASH HIT ROAD RAGE WITH ROAD RAGE #2 THIS WEDNESDAY
So, here’s an awesome new one that took the comic market by surprise last month. Stephen King and Joe Hill, father and son, team up and serve up some of the most exciting horror / grind house comic goodness we’ve seen in a minute with ROAD RAGE.
A story of Motorcycle Massacres, and Mayhem, ROAD RAGE delivers a freakin’ fun as hell read, and we loved every second of issue #1.
In this week’s #2, we learn that the Tribe have done some baaaaad things in their time as a motorcycle club, but surely nothing deserving the full-on assault of an insane trucker in an oil tiger. Throttle shows us that the road will run red with biker blood before this one reaches it’s end.

LAST OF THE GREATS TPB VOL.1 ARRIVES THIS WEDNESDAY – A MUST READ FOR FANS OF “IRREDEEMABLE”, “SUPREME POWER” and “THE CAPE”
One of our favorite IMAGE series from last year was the modern spin on superheroes gone wrong by ECHOES writer JOSHUA HALE FIALKOV, LAST OF THE GREATS.
We’ve seen a lot of recent stories where the idea of a Superman-esque character goes bad, and wreaks havoc, and while there’s been some really good ones, we really feel that LAST OF THE GREATS may be one of the best since Mark Waid launched IRREDEEMABLE.
What’s the scoop on this one? After being taken for granted for years, the Greats, the superheroes that have protected our world for many years, have taken off and left us to our own devices.
Except one stayed behind… meet the Last of the Greats. He’s mankind’s last hope, and he HATES mankind.
As the Earth stands on the brink of annihilation we must beg the last survivor of a family of superheroes to put aside his hatred and save the world.
A killer read, and a fresh new vision on super-heroes for the 21st century, LAST OF THE GREATS is a must-read for anyone who just plain digs good comics.

In this new series, a pirate ship carrying four children crashes on the shore of a mysterious and merciless jungle. Each child is taken by a separate tribe of animals as a means to keep the peace between the species. It’s a peace that will not last.

RAGEMOOR #1 DELIVERS RICHARD CORBEN ART AWESOMENESS… AND A RAD STORY ABOUT A CASTLE THAT EATS PEOPLE. SERIOUSLY. A LIVING CASTLE! WE LOVE IT!
All right, folks, first off: I’m a huge Richard Corben fan. Always have been, always will be, so when I see he’s doing something new, well, I get pretty stoked. I just love the unique style of art he puts together, and it really is a style all it’s own. I can’t think of ANYONE who has a style like Corben, and it’s that uniqueness that is part of his appeal.
But, I’m going to level with you: the reason why I’m pumped for RAGEMOOR is because it has a freakin’ castle on the cover eating people.
I think that is the coolest thing ever. This book screams raw comic book energy, like Jack Kirby and Stan Lee if they listened to heavy metal, and drew EC horror comics, Jan Strnad and Richard Corben got the goods.
Ragemoor! The living castle, nurtured on pagan blood, harborer to deadly monsters! A fortress possessed of its own will and ability to change itself, with the power to add and destroy rooms and to grow without the help of any human hand. Its owner is mad with jealousy, its servants aren’t human, and its secrets horrific!
How can you NOT wanna read this? :)

HOAX HUNTERS #0 DEBUTS THIS WEDNESDAY FROM IMAGE DELIVERING CONSPIRACY THEORY AWESOMENESS
X-FILES meets MYTHBUSTERS
Here’s one that we saw some advance pages of, and thought was pretty damn neat. Cryptids. Aliens. Monsters. All the world’s bizarre secrets — what if they were real? Their existence would be debunked by a reality TV Show! Hoax Hunters is that show, publicly disproving all variety of lore. But their real goal is the opposite: as the world’s dark corners surface, the Hoax Hunters cover them up. When a mysterious astronaut made of crows appears in Russia… the Hoax Hunters take the case.
One part MYTHBUSTERS, one part X-FILES, this new series looks like a blast, and we really enjoyed the first issue. Do yourselves a favor, and snag yourself a copy this week.

STAFF PICKS
STEVE: SAGA #1 - It’s everything that is great about comics. Get this book. Seriously.
TRISH:  - SAGA #1 - WOW. Start to finish, an awesome read.
TORMA:  SAGA #1 - It beat out the new issue of Hulk. And, nothing ever tops Hulk as my pick. That should tell you something.

SHAUN: SAUCER COUNTRY #1  -  There’s no doubt SAGA and PETER PANZERFAUST are blowing the comic world away this week! Rightly so! But SAUCER COUNTRY is a great book in a week filled with titans, so don’t let it slip by.
RYAN: SAGA #1 - Just get it!
