This Week's Highlights at Third Eye Comics for Wednesday 12/12/12

REVIVAL VOL.1 YOU'RE AMONG FRIENDS TPB DROPS THIS WEDNESDAY!
Meet writer TIM SEELEY at THIRD EYE ANNAPOLIS this Saturday 11AM-1PM
REVIVAL is right up there with SAGA as our favorite new IMAGE COMICS series of 2012. Seriously, it's a tough call, 'cause both have been so damn good.
This fantastic series from HACK/SLASH writer TIM SEELEY has really captivated the imaginations of comic fans in a major way. With a unique blend of supernatural horror and rural crime noir reminiscent of FARGO, REVIVAL brings something completely unique and one hundred percent fascinating to the table.
Focusing on a young police officer, who's determined to solve a murder, despite the onset of the dead getting up and walking around, REVIVAL delivers the kind of twists and turns that make books like WALKING DEAD so much fun.
A little bit of horror, a little bit of mystery, a little bit of religious commentary, REVIVAL takes the idea of the undead and spins it in a way that is new, and fascinating.
The characters in the book are well-crafted, and definitely pull you in. We could totally see these same characters coming to life on an AMC television series.
So WHAT is REVIVAL?
For one day in rural central Wisconsin, the dead came back to life. Now it's up to Officer Dana Cypress to deal with the media scrutiny, religious zealots, and government quarantine that has come with them. In a town where the living have to learn to deal with those who are supposed to be dead, Officer Cypress must solve a brutal murder, and everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect.
This first trade collects issues 1-5 of REVIVAL, as well as the short story that appeared in Image's 2012 FREE COMIC BOOK DAY special.

BATMAN #15 *DEATH OF THE FAMILY* -- The DEATH OF THE FAMILY CONTINUES THIS WEDNESDAY IN BATMAN #15, BATMAN AND ROBIN #15, AND BATGIRL #15
DEATH OF THE FAMILY has been, by far, one of the most compelling stories using THE JOKER that we've read since THE KILLING JOKE. Scott Snyder, the same uber-talented writer who brought us BATMAN: THE COURT OF OWLS, has been absolutely kicking ass and taking names with DEATH OF THE FAMILY, and his partner-in-crime, GREG CAPULLO, has been making every single second memorable as all get out.
Now, the mayhem continues, as THE JOKER knows the identities of nearly every member of the Bat-Family, and is targeting them one by one.
After having his face sliced off last year, he's returned, and this is his grand punchline.... will the Bat-Family be able to survive it?
The attacks have taken their toll on Batman and his allies, and now, they have to face the impossible.
The final madness of The Joker's plan is revealed here, and we're going to learn just why he is more dangerous now than ever.
Folks, I could go on and on all day, I mean, heck, I think every month for nearly a year, we've written up summaries on why BATMAN is THE DC book to read.. but seriously, if you're not into this series by now, PLEASE, get into it.
You can either start with the first hardcover, collecting BATMAN 1-7, or you can backtrack on the back issues, which we have all of in stock.
Wanna jump on with JUST DEATH OF THE FAMILY? We've got all the crossover chapters in stock, and we can get you started with the chapter 1 that begins in BATMAN #13 (still rocking the cool die-cut cover!)
Either way, folks, GET INTO THIS, it's amazing. Even if you're not normally a DC fan, or a BATMAN reader, this will impress you!
Also dropping this week in the DEATH OF THE FAMILY line-up...

CABLE & X-FORCE #1 DEBUTS THIS WEDNESDAY, BRINGING THE ICONIC FUTURE SOLDIER MUTANT BACK INTO THE SPOTLIGHT!
Meet series writer DENNIS HOPELESS at THIRD EYE COMICS on 1/26
Man, I am so stoked about the new Cable and the X-Force title that's dropping this Wednesday. Not only does the roster for the team look totally impressive, but, the creative team on this book is top freakin' notch.
Dennis Hopeless wowed the hell out of us last year with his creator-owned IMAGE graphic novel, LOVESTRUCK, and Salvador Larroca has been a long-time favorite of our's due to his work on Fraction's INVINCIBLE IRON MAN.
Combine the two together, and give them some of the most iconic characters of the Marvel Universe circa the '90s, and you've got yourself a real dream title.
In this new reader-friendly MARVEL NOW title, Cable has returned, and with him, he's brought a bold, new X-Force. Now, they must tackle the threats that nobody else in the Marvel Universe can know about.
The question is: who are Cable's new recruits, and why is his team public enemy number one? Caught red-handed at the scene of a terrorist attack on a major American corporation whose CEO has expressed anti-mutant views, the X-Force is on the run, and who's after them?
THE UNCANNY AVENGERS.
Folks, this book is hot, great storytelling, great art. Just look at the preview, and you'll see what I mean. Plus, it's fantastic to see characters like Domino, Forge, and Colossus back in the limelight.
Jump on board this Wednesday!

CHANGE #1 FROM IMAGE COMICS DELIVERS A COMPELLING, TRIPPY READ THAT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!
When we saw the preview for Ales Kot's new IMAGE mini-series, CHANGE, we knew this was going to be something special. We seriously got a chill up our spine reading this one, and folks, please, do not sleep on this one this week, 'cause it's a really fantastic read.
What's the scoop on CHANGE? A foul-mouthed struggling screenwriter who moonlights as a car thief. An obscenely wealthy rapper completely disconnected from the real world. A dying cosmonaut on his way back to Earth.
Los Angeles is being toyed with by destructive forces that repeatedly find the city through time and swallow it whole, and those three are the only people able to save it -- if they survive the fanatics who live in the hills, National Security Agency agents, and the horrors that lurk in the Pacific Ocean.
With a high-energy, unique art style, and an intense approach to storytelling, CHANGE is something fresh, new, and totally exciting.
Give it a shot this Wednesday at Third Eye!

BEFORE WATCHMEN RORSCHACH #3 ARRIVES THIS WEDNESDAY, CONTINUING ONE OF OUR FAVORITES IN THE BEFORE WATCHMEN LINE-UP

We've been really digging all the BEFORE WATCHMEN prequels that've been running since the Summer, and I gotta tell ya, this week, two of our favorites are dropping in the form of RORSCHACH #3 and DR MANHATTAN 3.
Both of these have been outstanding, with the creative team of JOKER, handling RORSCHACH perfectly, and the legendary ADAM HUGHES bringing a sense of wonder and mystery to DR. MANHATTAN.
While we've been really liking all of the BEFORE WATCHMEN books, we have to give high praise to these two in particular.
Wanna get caught up on 'em? We've got issues 1-3 of both RORSCHACH and DR MANHATTAN in stock now to get you current.

A MUST-READ.
Holy crap, there's some books that as soon as I see them... I know they're going on my bookshelf. The FEAR AGENT LIBRARY VOL.1 is most definitely one of those kinds of books.
This gorgeous, 500-page oversized hardcover collects the first 3 graphic novels worth of Rick Remender's INCREDIBLE dystopian sci-fi series FEAR AGENT, and folks, it's never looked so damn good.
If you've been digging on recent IMAGE sci-fi stories like PLANETOID or PROPHET, this is the book for you.
Picture HALF-LIFE's GORDON FREEMAN and ARMY OF DARKNESS'S Bruce Campbell smashed into one bad-ass, space-faring alien exterminator, and you've got a good handle on FEAR AGENT.
When down and out alien exterminator Heath Huston stumbles upon an extraterrestrial plot to commit genocide against the human species, he must put down the bottle and resume his role as a peacekeeper... as The Last Fear Agent.

Not only does it feature Rick Remender's insanely great storytelling, but it also features art by TONY MOORE (WALKING DEAD, DEADPOOL) and JEROME OPENA (UNCANNY X-FORCE DARK ANGEL SAGA, AVENGERS).
That's TWO extremely talented artists helping bring this book to life, so you're probably starting to see why I'm gushing about the book.
For only $50, you're looking at one giant, gorgeous tome of awesomeness. Take everything that is great about HALF-LIFE, ALIENS, STAR WARS, FIREFLY, and hell, there's even a bit of the nostalgia-driven pulp madness of Dave Stevens's ROCKETEER, and you've got yourself FEAR AGENT.

LUTHER STRODE writer JUSTIN JORDAN comes on as regular series writer for DEATHSTROKE with DEATHSTROKE #15 this Wednesday!
We're huge fans of DEATHSTROKE as a character, but it hasn't been until this issue here that we feel the character has really clicked with us in the NEW 52.
STRANGE TALENT OF LUTHER STRODE / LEGEND OF LUTHER STRODE writer JUSTIN JORDAN brings DEATHSTROKE to life in a big way, bringing his knack for ultra-violent, layered storytelling to the character, and breathing fresh life into the DCU's most formidable killer.
This was a fantastic read, Third Eye Faithful, and we highly recommend snagging a copy and jumping on board the series with this issue for Justin's run.

Folks, we were huge fans of John Ostrander and Jan Duursema's work on STAR WARS LEGACY, and with that being what we consider to be the best STAR WARS comics stuff in ages, we're pretty stoked to see them delivering a follow-up project in the form of the new STAR WARS DAWN OF THE JEDI series.
If you were a fan of LEGACY, and have been waiting for something kick-ass to pick up on since it's conclusion, DAWN OF THE JEDI is the book you've been waiting for.
Here begins the tale of the dawn of the Jedi, the Star Wars of 25,000 years ago-before lightsabers, before hyperspace travel, before the Jedi spread throughout the galaxy, when connections to the Force were new.

But a stranger is coming, one who will disrupt the balance with his arrival and his own connection to the Force. Everything in their system is about to change . . . CALIGULA: HEART OF ROME #1 -- AVATAR PRESS, PUBLISHERS OF FERALS, CROSSED, STITCHED, AND MORE RETURN TO ROME WITH THIS HARROWING DEMONIC LOOK AT THE ROMAN EMPIRE'S MOST DEPRAVED LEADER.
Last year, AVATAR PRESS took us into a realm of historical horror that we've never seen before, as they took the classic history of CALIGULA and his rule, and combined it with a demonic possession story that left us sleeping with the lights on.
Now, creators David Lapham and German Noble, of last year's CALIGULA, return to the time of hedonism and supernatural evil with Caligula: Heart of Rome #1.
They thought the mad emperor destroyed, his mysterious soul box gone, and his body run through with a thousand blades. But the demon lives on and ten years later the job of finding and slaying the beast once and for all has fallen to heroic Laurentius.
But can anyone unravel the mystery of the demon before its bloody tendrils make glorious Rome a wasteland?
CALIGULA is a horrific, depraved look at one of the most insane emperors Rome ever saw, and you know the publishers of over-the-top horror like CROSSED, FERALS, and STITCHED are going to do justice to one of the most evil men to have lived.
Wanna read the previous series? We'll have plenty of copies of the trade paperback, collecting the entire first series for you to check out.

CLONE #2 -- THE HIT NEW SCI-FI THRILLER FROM ROBERT KIRKMAN'S SKYBOUND IMPRINT CONTINUES THIS WEDNESDAY

CLONE really impressed us a couple of weeks ago with it's debut issue, and we're pretty pumped to read what goes down in the follow-up this Wednesday.
A new debut on ROBERT KIRKMAN'S (WALKING DEAD, INVINCIBLE, THIEF OF THIEVES) SKYBOUND imprint, this series tells the tale of a talented young Doctor who finds a bloody clone of himself at his doorstep one day with an ominous message: there are hundreds more of YOU out there, and they all want to kill your wife and take your unborn child.
Creepy, right? One part TOTAL RECALL, one part BLADE RUNNER, and a little bit of FIGHT CLUB, CLONE is a fascinating read, with gorgeous art, and we give it high praise.

AME*COMI GIRLS FEATURING DUELA DENT -- The AME*COMI line continues to impress!
We've always dug the PVC statues that took anime inspiration and applied it to classic and modern DCU characters, so when we saw there was going to be a line of self-contained one-shot comics expanding on that world, we thought it was a pretty rad idea.
This week, one of the coolest characters gets her own one-shot, with the AME*COMI DUELA DENT issue this week. This one tells the origin of Duela Dent, as well as the first appearance of the Ame-Comi BRAINIAC.
I mean, who doesn't love the idea of a character who may be the Joker's daughter, may be the Jokester's daughter, or may be Two-Face's daughter.... and totally rocks a steampunk look?
Totally fun, snag yourself a copy of the DUELA DENT issue this Wednesday.

THE HOLLOWS #1 DELIVERS BRAND NEW SAM KIETH (THE MAXX) AWESOMENESS THIS WEDNESDAY!
Man, we were huge fans of THE MAXX growing up, and whenever we see Sam Kieth doing something new... well, heck, we gotta pay attention, 'cause the man is a brilliant artist.
This new series from IDW (the folks who've brought us amazing reads like LOCKE & KEY) debuts on Wednesday, transporting us to a near-future Japan, where burned-out husks - The Hollows - wantonly devour souls throughout the city. Far above, a segment of society lives safely in giant tree-cities, but the problems below will soon reach them.
This is textbook Sam Kieth goodness, folks, as we're shown a dreamy, surreal modern fantasy that does not let up.

SHERLOCK HOLMES: LIVERPOOL DEMON #1 BRINGS THE GREAT DETECTIVE BACK INTO THE SPOTLIGHT WITH THIS NEW OCCULT MYSTERY
We've loved the stuff Dynamite has done in the past with series like SHERLOCK HOLMES YEAR ONE, so it's pretty rad to see Leah Moore and John Reppion returning to the world of HOLMES with this new limited series that totally turns up the steampunk a bit on the Great Detective.
Sherlock Holmes is is busy doing what he does best, solving a case of far-reaching international notoriety. It has landed him at the Port of Liverpool, a bustling hub of commerce both legitimate and illicit. As that chapter closes, ours begins. They head to Lime Street Station, to catch a fast steam locomotive home to London and Baker Street, when violent weather keeps The Great Detective and Watson in Britain's second city a while longer. Long enough to encounter a monster, discover the Liverpool underworld, and to become embroiled in one of his strangest cases yet.

LANCE HENRIKSEN (YES, THAT LANCE HENRIKSEN... YOU KNOW, BISHOP FROM ALIENS, AND THE BAD-ASS VAMPIRE DAD FROM NEAR DARK!) writes a killer new comic with legendary artist TOM MANDRAKE with Dark Horse's new TO HELL YOU RIDE #1
You gotta admit: Lance Henriksen's a bad-ass. I mean, c'mon, ALIENS? MILLENIUM? NEAR DARK? That's a pretty impressive roster, and just a fraction of the awesome stuff this guy has been in.
So, when we saw he was going to write a comic -- we knew it'd be kick-ass.
In TO HELL YOU RIDE, a deadly curse plagues a small town, melting the flesh from its victims -- the violent revenge four warriors set in motion when their sacred burial grounds were disturbed for the sake of gold miners' greed!
Another great new horror series from the publisher who's brought us COLDER and EX SANGUINE, give TO HELL YOU RIDE a shot this Wednesday.

STAFF PICKS
STEVE: AVENGERS #1 - One word: breath-taking. Holy crap. THIS IS THE AVENGERS! Amazing read.
TRISH: AVENGERS #1 - Gorgeous art, great story, one of the best books of the year, I think.
TORMA: AVENGERS #1 - Hickman made Fantastic Four a must read book and he's doing the same with Avengers. Ex Nihilo reminds me of Dr Manhattan. Imagine if Dr Manhattan came to the Marvel Universe to change everything and the Avengers had to stop him. That's what Hickman is doing here. Plus the last page reveal of some of the new Avengers is awesome. HYPERION?!! CAPTAIN UNIVERSE?!!! CANNONBALL?!!!! MUST READ BOOK!!!!!
SHAUN:  AVENGERS #1 -  Holy wow -- if you took the sci-fi brilliance of MANHATTAN PROJECTS and merged it with the MARVEL U.. you'd get this.

RYAN: THUNDERBOLTS #1 - This was an easy choice for me this week. We have Daniel Way (Deadpool) writing at his best and Steve Dillon (Preacher) bringing this group to life. Red Hulk, Punisher, Elektra, Venom and Deadpool gather for best team-up comic I have seen since the beginning of Uncanny X-Force.
JOHN: AVENGERS #1 -  I love everything about this book. The story is well written and the art is amazing! I highly recommend you pick this one up.
MATT:  LEGEND OF LUTHER STRODE #1 - Wow, This doesn't pull punches. If it keeps it up at this pace, it could be better then the Strange Talents of Luther Strode. That alone is saying something.
LEXI: AVENGERS #1 -- Super super badass.
