GREEN ARROW #18 -- JEFF LEMIRE & ANDREA SORRENTINO'S INCREDIBLE NEW RUN ON GREEN ARROW CONTINUES! FOLKS, DO NOT MISS OUT: THIS NEW RUN IS MAKING GREEN ARROW ONE OF THE BEST MONTHLY DC BOOKS ON THE STANDS!
I gotta tell you: I've always been a big GREEN ARROW fan, but for the last few years, there hasn't been a really outstanding GREEN ARROW run.. UNTIL NOW.
Only two issues in, and we can tell that JEFF LEMIRE (writer of ANIMAL MAN, SWEET TOOTH and UNDERWATER WELDER) and ANDREA SORRENTINO'S (I VAMPIRE artist) GREEN ARROW run is going to rank up there with classics like Mike Grell's THE LONGBOW HUNTERS and Kevin Smith's QUIVER.
Bringing a very noir, very street-level approach to the character and his world, this new run feels very close in tone to stuff like BATMAN YEAR ONE, the Frank Miller and Brian Bendis DAREDEVIL stuff, and even the current run of HAWKEYE in some respects.
In Lemire & Sorrentino's GREEN ARROW run, Oliver Queen has lost everything: his company, his money, his friends, and most of his arrows. It's all because of one man: Komodo, who has come to tear Ollie's life to shreds.
From the ashes, Ollie must uncover the secrets of his father's past -- secrets of the island and Ollie's own uncanny ability with the bow.

You guys may already know this, but we're huge fans of the writer SCOTT SNYDER here at Third Eye. His work on series like BATMAN: COURT OF OWLS, BATMAN: THE BLACK MIRROR, and BATMAN: DEATH OF THE FAMILY, and of course, his incredible AMERICAN VAMPIRE, has been some of our favorite comic book goodness on the stands.
So, to see his incredible horror mini-series SEVERED arriving in graphic novel this Wednesday has us pretty darn happy.
In SEVERED, 12-year-old Jack Garron runs away from home to find his biological father, a wayward minstrel. Along the way he meets up with a traveling salesman whose winning smile is fake, beneath which he hides his real teeth... jagged spikes he uses to eat human flesh.
SEVERED is a chilling, suspenseful read, that delivers a turn-of-the-century kind of horror tale that'll keep you leaving the lights on before bed. It's a CREEPY book, and we highly recommend it to anyone who digs Snyder's other work, or digs cerebral horror like LOCKE & KEY and THE SANDMAN.

We're HUGE fans of HELLBOY, and this latest venture into the world of Hellboy has been one of the best we've read in ages!
HELLBOY IN HELL serves as THE perfect place to start reading Mike Mignola's pulp / gothic horror mash-up, as it's a great, new reader friendly jumping on point.
After the oh-so-bizarre family reunion in the last issue, Hellboy can barely process the new information he's received, and the things he's done, since arriving in Hell.
But, Mike Mignola has one more revelation before concluding this initial monthly run of the story he's been building to since the Seed of Destruction.
Folks: I can't even begin to sum up in just a paragraph or two about why Hellboy is a shining example of everything we love in comics, especially when Mike Mignola is handling both story and art.

The PHANTOM VARIANT crew has been a busy bee, folks. There's FOUR incredible PHANTOM covers hitting the shop this week, including one by Third Eye favorite CHARLES PAUL WILSON III (STUFF OF LEGEND) for BEDLAM #5.
First off: we've got a PHANTOM variant on LOST VEGAS #1 by Skottie Young, who many of you know for his incredible MARVEL BABY covers. This is going to be a popular one, as LOST VEGAS is set to be a BIG release for IMAGE this week.
Next up, we've got a BEDLAM #5 variant by CHARLES PAUL WILSON III, whom many of you know from his work on STUFF OF LEGEND. This is another incredible looking cover, and may be our favorite BEDLAM cover yet.
And, then, we've got the Phantom cover of HELHEIM by series artist JOELLE JONES, which as you learned above, is a new creator-owned series from CULLEN BUNN and JOELLE JONES.
Finally, to round out this incredible selection, we've got another killer PHANTOM cover of FIONNA AND CAKE #3.
What's a Phantom Variant? A select handful of comic shops, less than 25 worldwide, are chosen by the mysterious Phantom Project to distribute some of the most kick-ass and innovative variant covers in comics today.
These books feature very low print runs, and artwork by some of the hottest talent in the industry today. Many times Phantoms are chosen for up-and-coming creator-owned titles to help celebrate the unique and interesting ideas coming out of publishers like IMAGE, ONI PRESS, and many others.

DOCTOR WHO VOL.1 THE HYPOTHETICAL GENTLEMAN COLLECTS THE FIRST STORY ARC OF THE NEW ONGOING DOCTOR WHO SERIES!
IDW has done an incredible job with their DOCTOR WHO series, and the new ongoing 11th DOCTOR series is a great example of that. SNAPSHOT writer ANDY DIGGLE and FABLES artist Mark Buckingham do an amazing job of telling the tale of a shadow being that's emerged from a machine used to view alternate realities, stealing time from those he touches in order to become 'real.'

And, then, WITCH DOCTOR writer Brandon Seifert brings THE SILENCE back to face Amy Pond on her own, as the Doctor and Rory head out for a boys night out gone wrong.

STEVE: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #0.1 - First Nova blows me away, then Guardians? Seriously, Marvel knows how to bring something new to something old, and their revamp of their cosmic books is TOP NOTCH.
TRISH: BATMAN INC #8 - An excellent.. but totally heartbreaking issue!
TORMA: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #0.1 - BENDIS brings back the Guardians in full force this week! We learn the origin of Star Lord, which is very interesting! An awesome read; this book will have you loving ROCKET RACCOON AND GROOT in no time!
SHAUN: YOUNG AVENGERS #2 - One of my top Marvel titles no question! What has Wiccan done?
