This Week's Highlights at Third Eye Comics for Wednesday 6/12/13

SUPERMAN UNCHAINED #1 -- Join us for MAN OF STEEL Day and the LAUNCH of SUPERMAN UNCHAINED #1
Folks, this is one of the most exciting new releases of the year for us here at Third Eye, and we CANNOT wait until you get to sit down and read it for yourselves. It's THAT good.
Featuring a creative team that SCREAMS all-star, SUPERMAN UNCHAINED is written by SCOTT SNYDER (Batman: Court of Owls, Batman Death of the Family, American Vampire) and illustrated by JIM LEE (Batman Hush, Justice League).
And, it crackles with raw comic book energy from start to finish.. literally, everything about this book, from it's artwork, to it's storytelling... is downright INCREDIBLE.
When thirteen satellites fall from the sky in one day, the logical suspect is Lex Luthor -- even though he's still in prison.
But a stranger question remains: if Superman didn't stop the last satellite from falling, who did? There's a mystery hidden where even Superman can't see it -- can the Man of Steel drag a decades-old secret into the light?
Great artwork, great storytelling, this is the book to read if you've ever uttered the words: "I just can't get into Superman." Why? 'Cause after you read this, you're gonna find yourself a huge fan of Big Blue.
Trust us, SUPERMAN UNCHAINED is gonna be a book to watch this year.
Join us for the debut of SUPERMAN UNCHAINED #1 at

GERARD WAY, of UMBRELLA ACADEMY / MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, DELIVERS TRUE LIVES OF THE FABULOUS KILLJOYS #1 THIS WEDNESDAY
We were huge fans of Way's UMBRELLA ACADEMY a few years back, which turned out to be one of the biggest surprise hits of the 2000s, so when we heard he had a project on the horizon with Third Eye favorite artist Becky Cloonan -- we knew we were in for something good.
Years ago, the Killjoys fought against the tyrannical megacorporation Better Living Industries, costing them their lives, save for one -- the mysterious Girl.
Today, the followers of the original Killjoys languish in the Desert while BLI systematically strips citizens of their individuality.
As the fight for freedom fades, it's left to the Girl to take up the mantle and bring down the corporation to it's knees, or else find herself among the mindless ranks of Bat City.
Gerard Way brings a very Grant Morrison kinda sleek weirdness to the world of comics, and we love it. His writing really captures the pure energy of comics, and turns it into something totally special -- pair that up with Cloonan's incredible artwork, and you're in for a treat.
One of the most anticipated new releases of the Summer for us, make sure you snag yourself a copy of Killjoys #1 this Wednesday and hop aboard!
Get the TRUE LIVES OF THE FABULOUS KILLJOYS #1 Phantom Variant this Wednesday! Only $3.99!

SAVAGE WOLVERINE #6 - A NEW ARC BEGINS, GREAT JUMPING ON POINT, FEATURING THE RETURN OF LEGENDARY X-MEN / BATTLE CHASERS ARTIST & DARKSIDERS game designer JOE MADUREIRA
If you were reading comics anytime between 1994-1999, then the name Joe Mad probably means a lot to you. I know that it does to me -- and when I saw that the legendary artist who blew our minds in comics, and then did it all again in the world of video games, was returning to the Marvel fold, I knew we were in for a real treat.
Using the SAVAGE WOLVERINE book as a platform to tell self-contained, 4-6 issue story arcs, Marvel is following up the initial Frank Cho arc (which totally ruled) with a Superior Spider-Man / Wolverine Team-Up illustrated by the man himself, JOE MAD!
Incredible art makes this one a must buy on it's own, but there's also a stellar story going on here courtesy of frequent CARNAGE mini-series writer and current AVENGING SPIDER-MAN writer, ZEB WELLS.
Throw in the one and only ELEKTRA, and you've got yourself a recipe for some pure Marvel magic.
Folks, if you just want a kick-ass straight to the point Wolverine story featuring artwork that rivals some of the best in the industry -- this is the book for you, trust us.
Curious about the first arc by Frank Cho? While you can jump on with 6, and not have to read the earlier issues, we do have issues 1-5 in stock now if you'd like to check out that stellar little run!

PETER PANZERFAUST #11 -- CRY OF THE WOLF Chapter 1 BEGINS HERE, KICKING OFF A NEW STORY ARC FOR ONE OF OUR FAVORITE IMAGE SERIES!
Get Ready for the Upcoming BBC TV Series!
One of our favorite IMAGE series of the last couple years has gotta be PETER PANZERFAUST, which reads like a mix of David Tennant 10th Doctor era DOCTOR WHO and SAVING PRIVATE RYAN.
Picture this: the mythos of Peter Pan, Captain Hook and the Lost Boys filtered through the insanity of World War II.
It's crazy good, and folks, we're telling you: if you haven't started it by now, PLEASE get into this book.
In issue #11, a new arc begins, and a great jumping point is offered, as Peter, after facing the wrath of The Hook, finds himself and the Lost Boys joining forces with the Braves in guerilla warfare from their secret hideout in the Sticks.
This time, Felix is the man with the memories, and as Mr. Parsons soon learns, he's not eager to revisit that life.
One part FABLES, one part INGLORIOUS BASTARDS, PETER PANZERFAUST is a killer blend of gritty war story awesomeness and classic otherworldly fantasy.
Wanna jump on board? We've got the first two graphic novels in stock now, which will catch you up to issue #10, and then you can hop aboard the monthlies with issue #11.

This week, a brand new arc begins in GREEN LANTERN CORPS, as simultaneous attacks on both Oa and Earth stretch them to their limits.
Now, Guy Gardner must make a choice that could change the balance of power between the different Corps forever.

JOE HILL, writer of THE CAPE & LOCKE & KEY debuts a new horror comic withTHUMBPRINT #1
A MUST READ!
We're huge fans of both Joe Hill's incredible novels (Horns, Heart Shaped Box, etc.) as well as his prolific work in comics like LOCKE & KEY and THE CAPE.
So, it's pretty sweet to see him kicking things off for Summer with a new project that just screams with quality, both in storytelling and artwork.
In THUMBPRINT, Private Mallory Grennan had done terrible things as an Abu Ghraib prison worker.
After being discharged from the army, Mal thought she was leaving her sins behind to start a new life back home.
But, there's somethings that can't be left behind -- and some things that don't WANT to be left behind.
A chilling blend of horror and real life modern warfare, THUMBPRINT is one of the most interesting new books we've seen in a minute, and it's no surprise that the maestro himself, JOE HILL, is responsible.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #3 -- The biggest new MARVEL title of 2013 continues, as the mythology of the Guardians of the Galaxy is redefined from the ground up!
A must-read!
Imagine A GAME OF THRONES in the MARVEL U.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY continues to impress, shaping up to be one of the best Marvel launches of the last few years, and really building our confidence in next Summer's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY movie.
ALL NEW X-MEN writer BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS is absolutely killing on this title, building the mythology of not just the Guardians but Marvel's entire cosmic universe from the ground up, and redefining it in a way that's fresh and cool.
Combine that with the stunning artwork of OLD MAN LOGAN / CIVIL WAR artist STEVE MCNIVEN, and you've got yourself one heck of a great comic.
In issue #3, as we wrap the first arc of GUARDIANS, we're shown some stunning secrets that reveal a ton of the mysteries surrounding the upcoming MARVEL: INFINITY event.

It's often overlooked how many great characters have come out of TOP COW over the last couple of decades, but, seriously: these guys have really contributed some iconic creations to the world of comics.

It's no secret that Scott Snyder & Greg Capullo's BATMAN run has been one of our favorite things since its launch, and you guys probably already know we're pretty excited about their huge new arc kicking off in this Wednesday's BATMAN #21.
With BATMAN: ZERO YEAR, we're getting the huge follow up to their incredible BATMAN: COURT OF OWLS and DEATH OF THE FAMILY story arcs -- and we cannot wait.
This is supposed to be the big one, and there's been rurmors swirling about a very rad RIDDLER story in the waiting for Snyder's run; could this be it?
What we do know is that ZERO YEAR is the exciting, never-before-told NEW 52 Origin of the DARK KNIGHT.

THE AWARD-WINNING GRAPHIC ANTHOLOGY A1 RETURNS THIS WEDNESDAY WITH A1 #1 -- A must-read for cutting edge new comics!
A1 was a short-lived, but highly regarded comic anthology that helped introduce many of today's biggest comic talents.
Now, the visionary graphic anthology returns with a brand new format courtesy of Titan Comics.
Featuring three killer ongoing story lines, including the Weirdling Willows -- where the worlds of Wonderland, Oz, Neverland, Mars, Pelucidar and Elysium clash into the tiny English town of Willow Weir.
The Odyssey -- an immortal superhero out of place and time finds himself in the middle of a war for mankind between the Angels and the Demons.
And, finally, Carp Diem, showcasing the world's 7 greatest assassins... one for each day of the week.

BOOM STUDIOS DEBUTS SIX GUN GORILLA #1 THIS WEDNESDAY DELIVERING TOTALLY BIZARRE, AND TOTALLY AWESOME COMIC BOOK GOODNESS!
We love ridiculous things, and Six Gun Gorilla is definitely one of those ridiculous things.
Welcome to 'the Blister' -- a bizarre other-world colonized by humans sometime in the 22nd century, which quickly became a hotly contested source of fertile land and natural resources long ago exhausted on Earth.
In this new frontier, a rogue gunslinger and his companion wander across a wilderness in the grips of civil war, encountering lawlessness, natives, and perversions of civilization in a world at the crossroads between the past and the future.
The fact that said gunslinger is a bio-surgically modified silverback gorilla toting a pair of enormous revolvers is neither here nor there.
This pulpy mash-up of Western weirndess and lo-fi science fiction is totally unique, and totally awesome.
Just try it -- we think you'll be surprised how much you dig it. :)

DEADPOOL KILLUSTRATED ARRIVES THIS WEDNESDAY IN TRADE PAPERBACK FORMAT, COLLECTING THE ENTIRE 4-ISSUE FOLLOW UP TO DEADPOOL KILLS THE MARVEL UNIVERSE
We loved last year's DEADPOOL KILLS THE MARVEL UNIVERSE, and now, the same writer, Cullen Bunn, returns with DEADPOOL KILLUSTRATED, and it's available in graphic novel format to go on your bookshelf right next to DEADPOOL KILLS.
After killing every hero in the Marvel Universe, Deadpool decides... enough is not enough, and he's setting his sights on the characters of classic literature.
Tom Sawyer gets slashed in TWAIN! The Little Women's throats may get ALL-CUT! Scrooge gets a visit from the THREE BULLETS! And, Gulliver gets a SWIFT DEATH!
Seriously though: this is totally rad, totally fun, and like the above mentioned Six Gun Gorilla, totally ridiculous.
In other words: we loved every second of it.

ASPEN, THE PUBLISHERS OF LADY MECHANIKA, DEBUT BUBBLEGUN #1 THIS WEDNESDAY
Only $1.00!
Aspen wowed us a few years back with LADY MECHANIKA, and has been doing a pretty solid job with their recent title launches like EXECUTIVE ASSASSINS, JIRNI, and more.
Out of the full line-up, BUBBLE GUN was one of the ones that really captured our attention, as it seemed to really recreate the energy of some of our favorite late '90s Image titles like DV8 and GEN 13.
In BUBBLEGUN, they like the tech, but live for the high stakes.
Sisters Molli and Devyn, along with team-mates Roman and Kyo -- and a stockpile of cutting edge, cyber punk technology, form a confident team of mercenary thieves able to take on the most formidable jobs around.
Yet, when one cyber heist turns out to be more than they bargained for, as a mysterious package and its contents threaten to unravel th group to tis core, the menacing worlds of corrupt industry and deadly espionage is unleashed upon them.
Try issue #1 this week for only $1.00, and find out why we're digging on Bubblegun!

AMERICAN VAMPIRE RETURNS THIS WEDNESDAY WITH A ONE-SHOT FEATURING TRAVIS KIDD, IN AMERICAN VAMPIRE: LONG ROAD TO HELL
We've been going through serious Am Vamp withdrawal since the series began it's hiatus, so while we're bummed it's not coming back quite yet on a monthly basis -- we're sure as hell going to take a one-shot featuring one of it's raddest characters; TRAVIS KIDD, the vampire hunter who likes to "bite them back."
In LONG ROAD TO HELL, we're shown a story burned deep into the American psyche: two young lovers, a stolen car, and the open road.
But these young lovers are newly turned vampires trying to fight the bloodsucking urge inside them.
To make matters worse, they've got a pack of angry vampires on their tales-plus bad-ass vamp-killer Travis Kidd.
He's tracking the Heartbreak Killers across the heartland, but can he stop them before it all ends in tragedy?
This one-shot sets the stage for the upcoming AMERICAN VAMPIRE relaunch later in the year; and we're pumped.
One of our favorite titles, if you're fan of SCOTT SNYDER's work on BATMAN, THE WAKE, and more... you gotta read AMERICAN VAMPIRE.
Wanna go back to the beginning? We've got the graphic novels to start you off with volume 1 and catch you up from there.

DEADPOOL #11 -- THE SECOND ARC OF THE INCREDIBLE NEW MARVEL NOW DEADPOOL CONCLUDES THIS WEDNESDAY
Bringing the second arc of our favorite DEADPOOL run in, like, forever, to a close, issue #11 asks the question: will all of Deadpool's new friends end up dead because of him?
And, are turkey sandwiches better than ham?
Seriously, the new DEADPOOL run is off-the-chain good, and I cannot recommend the series enough.
Wanna get caught up? We've got issues 1-10 in stock now to catch you up to this week's #11.

STAR WARS #6 -- BRIAN WOOD'S INCREDIBLE RIFF ON THE TIME PERIOD BETWEEN A NEW HOPE & EMPIRE STRIKES BACK CONTINUES TO IMPRESS
By far, the best STAR WARS comic we've read since STAR WARS LEGACY, the current STAR WARS ongoing delivers the kind of Trilogy-era STAR WARS storytelling we love, and Brian Wood's writing is on point in a major way here.
When he and Chewbacca are cornered by Imperials, Han Solo resorts to an improvised plan -- with the most dangerous results imaginable!
Meanwhile, half a galaxy away, Princess Leia and Wedge Antilles prepare for certain death, unaware that Luke Skywalker has an improvisation of his own.
And, all the while.. Vader is watching.
Nothing has felt more true, and more akin to the original STAR WARS films than this new comic series, while still introducing new angles, and a modern take.
The book is so good, it's not even funny.
Want to get into it? We've got issues 1-5 in stock now to catch you up to this week's #6.
