This Week's Highlights at Third Eye Comics for Wednesday 6/26/13

BATMAN / SUPERMAN #1 DEBUTS THIS WEDNESDAY, DELIVERING THE RADDEST TEAM-UP OF DC'S BIGGEST ICONS WE'VE SEEN!
GORGEOUS ART, SHARP STORYTELLING
A TOP SHELF MUST-READ!
We've been stoked for this series since we first saw the advance pages of it. The artwork from Jae Lee alone is enough to win us over, but the actual story inside is probably the most exciting spin we've seen on a Batman / Superman team-up title since the launch of SUPERMAN / BATMAN in the early 2000s.

This first issue chronicles the first ever fateful meeting of Batman and Superman in the NEW 52, as Jae Lee's dark, and moody artwork brings the otherworldly power of the Man of Steel clashing into the dark, despair of Gotham City.

Planet Hulk writer GREG PAK does a great job of making the story pop, and the level of balance he brings to the world of Superman and the world of Batman as the two collide, is downright impressive.

Following hot on the heels of the incredible SUPERMAN UNCHAINED #1, BATMAN / SUPERMAN is going to be a must-read series, and trust us: you're not going to want to miss it.

Hop on this week with BATMAN / SUPERMAN #1!

AGE OF ULTRON #10A.I Epilogue Brings the Blockbuster Series to an End, and Bridges the Gap into INFINITY!
Last week, the conclusion to AGE OF ULTRON left us speechless, as Marvel brought their own concept of a multiverse crashing into clear view for everyone to see.

Now, with Galactus shaping up to be a very Anti-Monitor-esque kind of role, as he finds himself traveling from universe to universe, and eating away all the Marvel alternate realities -- we're pretty freakin' pumped to see where this is all heading in regards to the upcoming mega-event, INFINITY.

Even the title of INFINITY conjures up memories of DC's own Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline, which eliminated many alternate DC Earths, and set up their universe in a more cohesive, streamlined manner... could Marvel be planning the same?

What we do know is this: in the aftermath of AGE OF ULTRON, founding Avenger Hank Pym, stands at a crossroads.

Now faced with a dilemma only he can solve, Pym must gamble his past and his future to save the Marvel Universe.

By the end of this crucial epilogue, one of the smartest men in the Marvel Universe will have an entirely new role, but will have he been redeemed?

An entire new Marvel Universe is about to be revealed in the aftermath of AGE OF ULTRON, and it starts here in AGE OF ULTRON #10AI.

Wanna get caught up on the AGE OF ULTRON? We've got issues 1-10 in stock now to get you current for 10AI.

GODZILLA: RULERS OF EARTH #1 DELIVERS THE ULTIMATE KAIJU COMIC BOOK EXPERIENCE THIS WEDNESDAY!
You guys know we love ourselves some Godzilla here at Third Eye, and when we saw that one of the best giant monster artists in the biz, Matt Frank, was gonna be doing a new GODZILLA series at IDW.. we almost destroyed a few city blocks with our excitement.

This new mini-series, offers a fresh jumping on point to the world of the GODZILLA comics, as dozens of new monsters have risen from the depths and are staking out their own territory, regardless of humanity's political borders.

And, now, a war of dominance begins... will Godzilla end up on top?

First, he'll have to be a new upstart.. Zilla.

Folks: it's giant monster mayhem. What more could you ask for? Seriously though, just seeing Matt Frank drawing the likes of Gigan, and many other awesome classic monsters is pretty bad-ass.

You're gonna love this. Snag yourself a copy this week.

SNAPSHOT & THE LOSERS Writer ANDY DIGGLE delivers a new kind of anti-hero with UNCANNNY #1 this Wednesday

We've been fans of many things Andy Diggle has done over the years, from his killer revival of THE LOSERS for Vertigo to his most recent IMAGE series SNAPSHOT, he's always a solid bet when it comes to delivering an innovative action comic with a sense of style and cool to it.

Now, he's got a new series coming out this week, with the extremely talented Aaron Campbell, and we're pretty pumped for it.

In UNCANNNY, we meet a man with six billion skill sets, and one last chance.

Weaver is unique, or so he thinks. Born with an uncanny ability, he can steal other people's skills -- their memories, abilities, and expertise -- for a limited time.

A man with a power like that could change the world; but as a professional gambler, con-man, and thief-for-hire, Weaver prefers to look out for number one.

That is, until he finds himself drawn into a dangerous game of international intrigue where the rules keep changing, the players are hidden... and the first thing he stands to lose is his life.

And maybe, just maybe, he isn't so unique after all...

Very cool stuff -- we recommend giving it a peek this week, Third Eye Faithful!

Get a FREE Orange Lantern Ring with Purchase!
Larfleeze was one of our favorites of the BLACKEST NIGHT saga, and we're pretty pumped to see what the creative team of Keith Giffen and Scott Kolins (both of whom have done some really kick-ass stuff in their time) have in store for the character.

In his debut solo adventure, Larfleeze meets Laord of the Hunt, a pan-dimensional cosmic entity that believes all living things are prey -- and he's out to turn the universe into his own private hunting reserve.

Larfleeze quickly finds out that the only thing worse than Laord are the deadly beings he can summon.

What will our greedy, half-crazy Orange Lantern do?

X-MEN #2 -- ONE OF THE BEST NEW MARVEL RELEASES OF 2013 DELIVERS IT'S SECOND ISSUE THIS WEDNESDAY!
We're totally in love with the new X-MEN series from Brian Wood and Olivier Coipel, as it delivers some of the freshest, most kick-ass takes on the X-MEN that we've read in quite a while.

Brian Wood, who's been wowing us on the ongoing STAR WARS series, as well as his other work on past hits like DMZ, NORTHLANDERS, and more, brings a ton of fresh energy and excitement to the women of the X-MEN in this series which stars the team's greatest heroines.

Olivier Coipel's art has never looked better, as he brings the team to life in a big way, and delivers that trademark style he's known so well for.

The two creators come together to deliver one of the most kick-ass new Marvel titles of the year, and we gotta say: Third Eye gives it mad props.

In this week's X-MEN #2, the school is on lockdown -- but if the bad guys can't get out, neither can the X-Men.

Meanwhile, John Sublime is back, but is one of the X-Men's scariest villains not the one we should be afraid of?

And, who or what is Arkea?

Have no clue about any of these characters? Don't worry! This book is a perfect way for new readers to hop aboard, as the writing is so well done that everything is very accessible.

Wanna hop on? We've got issue 1 in stock now to catch you up to this week's #2.

SCOTT SNYDER'S THE WAKE #2 ARRIVES THIS WEDNESDAY, DELIVERING THE ULTIMATE IN CUTTING EDGE HORROR COMICS!
You guys know us: we're big fans of AMERICAN VAMPIRE and BATMAN: COURT OF OWLS writer SCOTT SNYDER, so when we saw he was doing a new horror-themed series with artist SEAN MURPHY (JOE THE BARBARIAN, PUNK ROCK JESUS); we knew we were in for a treat.

They call it the "Ghost rig." A secret, underwater oil rig filled with roughnecks and scientists on the brink of an incredible discovery.

But, when things go horribly wrong, this scientific safe haven will turn into a house of horrors at the bottom of the ocean.

We loved the first issue of THE WAKE, and cannot wait to dive into the second one this week.

The entire story, both in terms of art and writing, conjures up a very cool, John Carpenter's THE THING kinda vibe, and we love it.

Highly recommended.

Wanna get into it? We've got issue 1 in stock now to catch you up to this week's #2.

THE BEFORE WATCHMEN GRAPHIC NOVELS BEGIN RELEASING THIS WEDNESDAY, WITH TWO KILLER ARRIVALS:
MINUTEMEN / SILK SPECTRE & OZYMANDIAS / CRIMSON CORSAIR
Folks, we totally dug the BEFORE WATCHMEN prequel series that came out last Summer, and are totally amped to see these arriving in gorgeous, deluxe graphic novel formats this Wednesday.

With cover and book design by the legendary CHIP KIDD, these graphic novels do a great job of presenting the stories perfectly.

We've got two for you this week, with the first being SILK SPECTRE / MINUTEMEN. In MINUTEMEN, Darwyn Cooke tells the tragic tale of the Minutemen, assembled to fight against evil in a world spinning out of control.

Can these heroes from completely different backgrounds and with completely different attitudes on crime come together? Or will they fall apart before they begin?

Then, Cooke and Third Eye favorite, Amanda Conner, team up to deliver a look at the Silk Spectre's early years with her overbearing, Super Hero mother, chronicling her journey down the winding path toward becoming her own kind of hero.

We loved both of these, but man, the Silk Spectre one is especially powerful, and really does an incredible job of living up to the spirit of WATCHMEN, even right down to the grid-panel layouts.

Also arriving this week is BEFORE WATCHMEN OZYMANDIAS / CRIMSON CORSAIR, which features Len Wein (original WATCHMEN editor) and Jae Lee's descent into the mind of the smartest man in the world: Ozymandias.

How does one grow up to become the world's smartes tman? Adrian Veidt begins his journey, both spiritual and physical, that will one day make him one of the most pivotal players in the world changing events of the WATCHMEN.

Also featured in this one are the CURSE OF THE CRIMSON CORSAIR back-up strips, and the BEFORE WATCHMEN: DOLLAR BILL one-shot.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #4CONTINUES TO IMPRESS US AS CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED SUPERSTAR ARTIST SARA PICHELLI JOINS THE TITLE!
We've been completely hooked on the new GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY series from Marvel, with Brian Michael Bendis  (writer of ALL NEW X-MEN and much more) delivering the freshest, most fascinating take we've seen yet on the cosmic Avengers.

This week -- Sara Pichelli, the superstar artist who's wowed us on ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDERMAN in the past, joins the title for a new arc centered on Gamora, and a deadly secret she harbors that could bring down the entire team.

Plus: Neil Gaiman will be joining the title very soon to handle co-writing duties, and that mysterious figure in AGE OF ULTRON #10 -- otherwise known as ANGELA? We hear she's going to be making an appearance.

Why should you care about Guardians? It's top notch comic book storytelling at it's finest -- the art, the writing, everything is at 200% here, folks.

Imagine if you took the high space action and excitement of a series like Joss Whedon's FIREFLY, then combined that with a bit of the character and world-building of A GAME OF THRONES, and set it against the backdrop of the Marvel Universe... THAT'S Guardians!

Wanna get on board? We've got issues #0.1-#3 in stock now to catch you up to this week's #4.

LAZARUS #1 -- IMAGE'S NEXT SMASH HIT IS SET TO DEBUT THIS WEDNESDAY -- DO NOT MISS OUT!
From GREG RUCKA (writer of BATWOMAN, GOTHAM CENTRAL, and countless others) & MICHAEL LARK (GOTHAM CENTRAL)
Okay, folks, you know we're not gonna steer you wrong, and just like we told you EAST OF WEST had the potential to be one of Image's biggest hits (which it has become), we're telling you again: LAZARUS is gonna be HUGE.

This new ongoing IMAGE series has so much potential, and it features two extremely talented creators working in a genre that suits them PERFECTLY.

Greg Rucka has proven himself again and again as one of the best crime noir / espionage-charged writers in the game, with runs on series like QUEEN & COUNTRY, BATWOMAN, GOTHAM CENTRAL, THE PUNISHER, STUMPTOWN, and much more!

And, Michael Lark, who's very noir style accompanied Rucka on GOTHAM CENTRAL, is a PERFECT choice for the story being told here.

So, what's LAZARUS all about? In a dystopian near-future, government is a quaint concept, resources are coveted, and possession is 100% of the law.

A handful of Families rule, jealously guarding what they have and exploiting the Waste who struggle to survive in their domains.

Forever Carlyle defends her family's holdings through deception and force as their protector, their Lazarus.

Shot dead defending the family home, Forever's day goes downhill from there... and the adventure of Lazarus begins.

Folks: if you dig stuff like REVIVAL, CRIMINAL, RACHEL RISING, and EAST OF WEST, you're going to love this beautiful, dystopian sci-fi thriller.

I've only read issue #1, and I can tell you right now: this one is going to be a serious contender as one of the best books of 2013.

INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US CONTINUES THE CARNAGE WITH THIS WEDNESDAY'S INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US #6
I'd say one of 2013's biggest surprise hits has been INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US, which could've just been another run-of-the-mill video game tie-in, but has actually turned out to be intelligent, and addictive ELSEWORLDS-style DC Universe tale that has had us hooked!

In INJUSTICE #6, Batman recovers from a devastating tragedy with only Catwoman at his side, and then goes underground to start developing the resistance against Superman's new world order -- but the Man of Steel is about to take the battle to the next level!

That's right, Third Eye Faithful, in the world of INJUSTICE, it's SUPERMAN VS. BATMAN, and it's incredible.

How'd it start? In the very first issue, The Joker kills Lois Lane... and Supes snaps.

He takes out The Joker first, and from there, he decides it's going to be up to him to be judge, jury and executioner.

Wanna get caught up? We've got issues 1-5 in stock now to catch you up to this week's #6.

ALL NEW X-MEN #13 -- The ALL NEW X-MEN vs. THE UNCANNY AVENGERS!
ALL NEW X-MEN has really been turning into one of our favorite monthly series here at Third Eye, and we're pumped to see the direction it's heading as this week's issue #13 wraps up the two-part X-Men vs. Uncanny Avengers arc.

In this week's ALL NEW X-MEN #13, we're going to see just how Young Cyclops deals with the adult version of the little brother he thought he may never see again.

We've been enjoying the heck out of this title since issue #1, and it's by far, our favorite X-MEN book on the stands currently.

With stunning art courtesy of Stuart Immonen, and Bendis at the top of his game, delivering a fascinating take on the Marvel Universe as seen through the eyes of the original X-Men brought back from the past into the present day -- ALL NEW X-MEN rules on all fronts.

Wanna get on board? We've got both the back issues, and graphic novels available to get you caught up to current on the series.

FIVE GHOSTS: HAUNTING OF FABIAN GRAY #4 CONTINUES THIS WEDNESDAY, AS THE MANIC PULP ACTION OF THE SERIES HAS US HOOKED!

One of our favorite IMAGE books of 2013 has been FIVE GHOSTS: HAUNTING OF FABIAN GRAY, which has been a non-stop, action-packed worship of all things pulp fiction from creators Frank J. Barbiere and Chris Mooneyham.

Featuring a treasure hunter known as Fabian Gray, who's found himself haunted by five ghosts of an iconic origin... an Archer, a Detective, a Vampire, a Wizard, and a Samurai.

Now, here's the real interesting part: just like in that one CASTLEVANIA game, Fabian calls on these different spirits to channel their skills, and use them when he needs them most.

He's cornered, and surrounded -- and he's gotta fight it out? It's Yojimbo time, as he deals out some swordplay like a pro.

He's on the run, and needs a quick escape? A puff of smoke, and he's using some wizardy tricks to evade his attackers.

We freakin' love this book!

Cool monsters, a real '70s horror comic kinda vibe mixed with HELLBOY style pulp action, FIVE GHOSTS is a MUST-READ.

THE BOUNCE #2 ARRIVES THIS WEDNESDAY, CONTINUING IMAGE'S NEW 21st CENTURY SUPERHERO EPIC!
This Book Rules!
We totally loved the first issue of Joe Casey's new IMAGE series, THE BOUNCE, which took the concept of the everyman hero to the next level and into the 21st century.

This spin on the ultimate slacker superhero continues, delivering a fresh, and fun take on the tale of power and responsibility.

In this week's issue #2, it's on, motha-trucka! The good vibes and good times continue! The big question is askeD: how many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of the world outside your window?

Only the Fog knows.

Oh, and we hear the MYSTERIOUS ORIGIN OF THE BOUNCE is REVEALED!

If Spider-Man partook... he'd be the Bounce!

Why? Guy Gardner is a freakin' Red Lantern now.. something we've been waiting and watching for since the days of BLACKEST NIGHT, and it's pretty freakin' cool to see it coming together.

In RED LANTERNS #21, the Red Lantern Corps has decided it's time to thicken their numbers.. and with their new leader, Guy Gardner, taking the reigns -- you know they're going to be a force to be reckoned with.

NOVA #5 -- One of Marvel's freshest, most innovative new titles continues this Wednesday!
NOVA has been a real treat, since issue #1, as it delivers a total package of comic book awesomeness.

Featuring JEPH LOEB, Writer of BATMAN THE LONG HALLOWEEN, BATMAN HUSH, and much more, and ED MCGUINNESS, artist of SUPERMAN / BATMAN, HULK, and more, the new NOVA series is the kind of special Marvel book that you can just tell is going to really hold up over the years as a timeless, flawless superhero story.

In this week's issue #5, the origin of the most talked about new character of the year comes to it's shattering conclusion, as Loeb & McGuinness bring you an INFINITE-ly dramatic turning point in the life of NOVA as he discovers that something out in the galaxy is threatening everything he knows.

While we recommend the new NOVA series solely on the merit of the level of quality it carries, we have to say: if you're getting pumped for Marvel INFINITY -- you're going to want to read this issue. Trust us.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #23 *CITY FALL Chapter 2* -- The biggest TMNT story.. EVER.. continues. Trust us: this is a must-read.
Last month, we were blown away by the shocking conclusion to CITYFALL Chapter 1 in the now-classic TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #22.

Long-time Turtles fave, Casey Jones, finds himself eviscerated by Shredder and left to die... and Leonardo? He's been taken into the custody of the Food; with his true destiny waiting to be revealed.

Now, as the Turtles' world falls apart around them, we dive into chapter 2 of CITYFALL, where desperate times call for desperate measures as unexpected alliances take shape.

Will the Turtles be able to find the Foot Clan's HQ in time to stop the next phase of Shredder's heinous plan? Plus, the return of the witch KITSUNE!

What ancient evil will she unleash.. and how will it change both the dynamic of the Foot and the Turtles forever?

Man, Frazer Irving was such a great choice to join UNCANNY X-MEN as artist for this current arc. His style fits the world of Limbo perfectly!

In UNCANNY X-MEN #7, Bendis continues to impress, as Cyclops's team finds themselves struggling to assist Magik in her battle against the demon lord, Dormammu, and his evil sorcery.

The question is: does she want their help? And, is she even on their side anymore?

MARK MILLAR'S JUPITER'S LEGACY #2 ARRIVES THIS WEDNESDAY, CONTINUING THE DARK IMAGE COMICS SPIN ON THE LEGACY OF EARTH'S MIGHTIEST HEROES
You guys have heard us gush plenty of times about how much we love Mark Millar's stuff, so we'll spare you this go around, but we will say this: Jupiter's Legacy may be our favorite MILLAR title yet.

Featuring art by the incredibly talented FRANK QUITELY, Jupiter's Legacy takes a look at the world's first superheroes, and the ungrateful, dysfunctional children who've grown up in their wake.

In this week's issue #2, the schism between the superheroes widens, and a plot to unseat the greatest hero of them all emerges.

Imagine if the Justice League was real, and their children were all the worst that Reality TV has to offer.

The new DEADPOOL run from Posehn & Duggan continues to be one of our favorite takes on the character, and this week's issue #12 takes things to even further extremes as the Merc with a Mouth goes head to head with the devil himself.. or, Mephisto, who'll have to do.

Can Wade trust hell to keep their side of his contract?

Will all of Deadpool's new friends end up dead because of him?

We're going to find out in this week's DEADPOOL #12.

We're all big fans of Mouse Guard here at Third Eye, and when we saw a new round of the anthology LEGENDS OF THE GUARD would be dropping -- well, we got more than just a tad bit excited.

This is a GREAT way to sample the world of MOUSE GUARD if you're new to the series, as these are self-contained, new reader friendly stories set against the backdrop of the world of MOUSE GUARD.

BONGO DELIVERS ANOTHER KILLER SIMPSONS ONE-SHOT, WITH THE MALEVOLENT MR BURNS THIS WEDNESDAY

BONGO is seriously one of the most consistent, and often underrated publishers in the biz. They always deliver a level of quality that's unmatched with their licensed books like SIMPSONS and FUTURAMA, and in some cases, the comics are even funnier than recent seasons of the shows.

We love the one-shots they do, and this week's MALEVOLENT MR. BURNS is a must-have.

A senior citizen centenarian spectacular. Mr Burns, the megalomaniacal scourge of Springfield, grants you permission to enter the billionaire boy's club with a miserly masterpiece of penny-pinching proportions.

It's the humor comic of the year for the young at heartless.
