This Week's Highlights at Third Eye Comics for Wednesday 8/14/13

Marvel begins their biggest event since Avengers vs. X-Men, with INFINITY #1 this Wednesday!
Join us for the INFINITY Launch Party!
From the writer of EAST OF WEST & MANHATTAN PROJECTS comes the biggest Marvel story in years!
Folks, it BEGINS this Wednesday, and after sitting down with our advance copy of INFINITY last week, I gotta tell you: I CANNOT WAIT to hear what you guys think of this one.
Seriously, Marvel hit a true blue home-run as they've brought THANOS back to his glory in the Marvel Universe as one of it's biggest villains... and, every single page of this issue #1 is a sight to behold.
Whether you're a fan of Marvel's more cosmic-centric characters or not, you're going to love this book. It's just that good, plain and simple.
Hickman manages to take the science fiction cool of his creator-owned works like EAST OF WEST and MANHATTAN PROJECTS and blend that with the iconic timelessness of Marvel's greatest heroes to tell a story that's downright cinematic.
In one issue, Hickman has built the lore of THANOS in a way that's edgy, and relevant to modern comics, while tipping his hat to the classic days of Starlin and more.
There's a certain sense of mystique, and wonder you get reading through issue #1 of INFINITY, something akin to when you first saw STAR WARS EPISODE IV, or sat down with the first chapter of SAGA; it feels so new yet so familiar, and when you get to the payoff at the end of issue 1 -- you realize it couldn't have concluded any other way.
With art from Jimmy Cheung, who's wowed us in the past on YOUNG AVENGERS and AVENGERS: CHILDREN'S CRUSADE, the story of INFINITY comes to life in a detailed, widescreen kind of way, which just adds to the immersive feel of Hickman's story.
So, what's it all about? It's simple: THANOS, the Mad Titan, the genocidal space butcher, has returned to our corner of the galaxy, and he's on a mission: to reclaim the INFINITY GEMS that nearly brought death to an entire galaxy.
With the Marvel multiverse being eroded from every corner, THANOS leads an army through the galaxy in search of the Gems, and plans to accomplish what he's been trying to do since we first met him: bring death to every living thing across the galaxy.
It's going to be up to the combined resources of Marvel's biggest heroes to stop him, and this time.. they may not win.

SAGA RETURNS THIS WEDNESDAY WITHSAGA #13 -- THE FIRST ISSUE TO PICK UP AFTER THE SECOND GRAPHIC NOVEL!
Been reading in trade? Hop on with #13 and follow the book in monthly issue format!
Folks: the best comic on the stands right now returns to it's monthly schedule with this week's SAGA #13, and we KNOW you're like us and you CANNOT wait!
Many of you have read the first two bestselling graphic novel collections of SAGA, and are all caught up and ready for more, right?
Here's your chance, picking up immediately after volume 2, SAGA #13 will get you on board the ongoing monthly issues of SAGA, as Hazel and her parents head to the planet Quietus in search of cult romance novelist D. Oswald Heist.
Not reading SAGA? Okay, so, prepare yourself, we're about to introduce you to your new favorite series.
SAGA is the sweeping tale of one young family fighting to find their place in the worlds.
When two soldiers from opposite sides of a never-ending galactic war fall in love, they risk everything to bring a fragile new life into a dangerous old universe.
Fantasy and science fiction are wed like never before in a sexy, subversive drama for adults.
Imagine the snap and cool of Joss Whedon's FIREFLY blended with the mature themes and strong character / world building of George RR Martin's A GAME OF THRONES.
That sums up SAGA perfectly.
Wanna try it out? We've got volume 1 in stock now, collecting issues 1-6, for only $9.99.

THE TRINITY WAR CONTINUES WITH IT'S FOURTH CHAPTER IN THIS WEDNESDAY'S JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #7
JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA drops this Wednesday, bringing us the fourth installment of the TRINITY WAR, and we cannot wait to get our hands on this one.
The hunt for a murder suspect leads Superman and his new teammates to the secret behind the Secret Society, while BATMAN finds the key to the crime -- and one of the Leaguers will be forever changed by it.
Plus, who is the Secret Society of Super-Villains and what are their plans for Pandora?
TRINITY WAR has been the best thing DC's delivered in quite some time, and we're loving every second of it.
What's the scoop? Imagine Marvel's CIVIL WAR, but in the DCU with the JUSTICE LEAGUE going head to head with it's sister teams, the JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA and JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK.
See, Superman does something... very bad.. like, INJUSTICE-level bad, and well, it has some fallout amongst the DCU, and how his team-mates view him.
From there, an all out war breaks out, and from behind the scenes, the DCU's most infamous villains are orchestrating the entire thing.
We're loving this storyline, and with the upcoming VILLAINS MONTH being where the whole thing is heading -- we know it's just going to keep getting better from here.
Wanna get on board? We've got TRINITY WAR chapter 1,2, and 3 all in stock to catch you up to this week's chapter 4.

DARK HORSE COMICS, PUBLISHERS OF THE TOTALLY RAD MASS EFFECT COMICS, DEBUT THEIR FIRST EVER HALO SERIES WITH HALO: INITIATION #1!
What's more awesome than HALO? How about HALO comics from DARK HORSE COMICS, publishers of some of the best licensed comics on the stands, including STAR WARS and MASS EFFECT? Yeah, we thought so!
In HALO INITIATION, before she was a super-soldier defending humanity as part of the Spartan-IV program, Sarah Palmer was an ODST -- Orbital Drop Shock Trooper -- carrying out the most dangerous missions behind enemy lines.
Now, the origin of SARAH PALMER is revealed, as well as the SPARTAN-IV program itself!
Written by one of the writers on the game, HALO 4, HALO INITIATION delivers some of the best riffs on the HALO universe that we've seen in any medium.

SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN TEAM-UP #2 & SCARLET SPIDER #20 DELIVER A 2-PART CROSSOVER AS THE TWO CHARACTERS MEET FOR THE FIRST TIME
We are totally pumped about the new SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN TEAM-UP series that started last month, and since we're also huge fans of the SCARLET SPIDER series that's been running by SUPERIOR TEAM-UP writer CHRIS YOST... well, we just about flipped when we saw the two books would be crossing over!
It's an epic confrontation, as Kaine comes to New York to check out what's going on with the strange, and 'superior' behavior of his Spider-Bro, Peter Parker.
Of course, he doesn't know that Doc Ock has taken over Peter's life. But, Ock knows all about who Kaine is, and he remembers quite well how Kaine is the man who once KILLED him.
Now: it's payback time.
Starting in SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN TEAM-UP #2, and then continuing into this week's SCARLET SPIDER #20, where the two may have to end up putting aside their differences to deal with the infamous JACKAL.
A total blast, folks, make sure you grab both chapters of this 2-part arc this Wednesday.

BATMAN #23 *ZERO YEAR CHAPTER 3* -- SCOTT SNYDER'S RETELLING OF BATMAN'S FORMATIVE YEARS CONTINUES THIS WEDNESDAY!
We've been saying for nearly two years now how Snyder's run on BATMAN is some of the best damn reading on the stands, and folks, we still have to say: BATMAN is one of our top 5 favorites month in, and month out.
Snyder & Capullo are just plain killing it on this title, and their latest arc, ZERO YEAR, is really delivering one hell of a storyline as they revisit the earliest beginnings of the Batman in the NEW 52, while at the same time, building up the origins of one of his most iconic villains: THE RIDDLER.
In this week's issue #23, witness the moment Bruce Wayne becomes BATMAN as "Zero Year" makes history.
And in the backup story, a young Bruce Wayne fights for his life in a death match in Russia!

Placed in an un-winnable war against an implacable foe, Sonja is forced to do an inconceivable move that will cost her like no previous battle ever has!

Seriously, Jason Aaron concludes the critically acclaimed GOD BUTCHER SAGA with a bang, and we're so pumped to see what's next for this breakout hit amongst the MARVEL NOW.

THE TRUE LIVES OF THE FABULOUS KILLJOYS #3 CONTINUES THIS INCREDIBLE NEW DARK HORSE SERIES THIS WEEK!
From the creator of the UMBRELLA ACADEMY!
Gerard Way, of MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE and UMBRELLA ACADEMY, is delivering a pure work of art with his new series TRUE LIVES OF THE FABULOUS KILLJOYS, and artist BECKY CLOONAN (DEMO) is bringing it to life with some of the best-looking art we've seen from her yet.
In issue #3, no longer content to hide from the prying eyes and lies of BLI, the Girl tries her hand at learning how to fire a ray gun with the help of a former Killjoy, Cherri Cola.
But when her vision bends and her mind opens, will the Girl see beyond sight and view more than she can handle? How far can you see when you lose focus?
This comic drips cool, folks, and everything about it has us hooked.
What's the back story? Years ago, the Killjoys fought against the tyrannical megacorporation Better Living Industries, costing them their lives, save for one -- the mysterious Girl.
Today, the followers of the original Killjoys languish in the Desert while BLI systematically strips citizens of their individuality.
As the fight for freedom fades, it's left to the Girl to take up the mantle and bring down the fearsome BLI or else join the mindless ranks of BAT CITY.
Wanna get into it? We've got issues 1 & 2 in stock now to catch you up to this week's #3.

So many of the new MARVEL NOW titles have just been plain kick-ass, that it's almost hard to choose favorites, but I gotta tell ya, Third Eye Faithful: the work that BENDIS has been doing on UNCANNY X-MEN and ALL NEW X-MEN is superb, and we cannot wait to see what he has in store with the upcoming BATTLE OF THE ATOM event.
In this week's issue #10, Cyclops goes CRAZY, and SHIELD gets itself a new agent who may just surprise you.
Wanna catch up? We've got issues 1-9 to catch you up to this week's #10.

EAST OF WEST #5 -- THE BEST NEW IMAGE SERIES SINCE SAGA CONTINUES THIS WEDNESDAYDidn't I tell you this week was an incredible week of new comic goodness? Man, so much cool stuff out this week, it's ridiculous.
The fifth issue of IMAGE ongoing series, EAST OF WEST, arrives, and holy crap, this book just keeps on getting better and better.
In issue #5, we find out the contents of the apocrypha that predicts the end of the world.. or does it? The most exciting new book of the year continues with THE LOST WORDS this week at Third Eye.
Folks: this series is INCREDIBLE.
INFINITY writer JONATHAN HICKMAN pairs with the incredibly talented Nick Dragotta to craft a unique world that's one part Western, one part sci-fi future dystopia, and all awesome.
During the CIVIL WAR, the apocalypse came, and the world ended. Sort of.
Three of the Four Horsemen were born, and as the world fell apart, the war didn't end, and the United States was divided into Seven Nations, who've been at each other's throats for the few hundred years.
Now, it's the year 2060, and the Horsemen of the Apocalypse roam the Earth, signaling the End Times for Humanity, and our best hope for life, lies in DEATH.
Just trust us, if you're not reading EAST OF WEST, snag issues 1-4 and hop aboard with this week's #5.

THE STORY OF MULDER & SCULLY CONTINUES IN SEASON 10!
IDW's new X-FILES SEASON 10 has been doing an incredible job of picking up where the TV Show left off and continuing it, very much in the vein of Dark Horse's BUFFY SEASON 8 and SEASON 9 series.
We're loving the direction of the book, and writer Joe Harris is capturing the tone and feel of the show perfectly and distilling it down into everything that long-time X-FILES fans want to see in the comic.
Wanna get into it? We've got issues 1 & 2 in stock now to catch you up for this week's #3.
