This Week's Highlights at Third Eye Comics for Wednesday 12/4/13

THE AFTERMATH OF INFINITY IS EXPLORED IN INHUMANITY #1, AS A NEW ERA BEGINS FOR THE MARVEL UNIVERSE!
Following in the wake of INFINITY, and the dropping of the INHUMAN bomb, which has ignited dormant alien DNA in the human race, INHUMANITY explores these major changes that are going to leave the MARVEL UNIVERSE a far different place.
Featuring HAWKEYE writer MATT FRACTION, with stunning artist OLIVIER COIPEL (Thor by J. Michael Straczynski, Avengers vs. X-Men), INHUMANITY could be seen as a little bit of a pre-MARVEL NOW Wave 2 set-up book.
With the landscape being drastically changed, and new super-powered individuals being born by the minute -- the Avengers find themselves faced with new challenges, and even bigger secrets as they confront KARNAK of the INHUMANS in relation to the INHUMAN Bomb.
We're personally really excited for this, as it's really a ground-level kind of thing, where new Marvel characters are literally being born before our eyes, and a whole new saga for the Marvel Universe is looking to unfold.
I would liken the events of INHUMANITY, and the state of the Marvel Universe now, as very similar to when the X-Men first debuted way back when, and the idea of a mutant originally came around.
With a big part of what's driving the upcoming MARVEL NOW 2nd Wave stuff being the effects of INHUMANITY, this mini-series is THE perfect place for you to jump into the Marvel Universe.

PREACHER, CROSSED, PUNISHER MAX & THE BOYS Writer GARTH ENNIS DELIVERS HIS NEXT EPIC WITH ROVER RED CHARLIE #1 THIS WEDNESDAY
Third Eye Faithful, you guys all know that we've got a pretty big healthy love of Garth Ennis and his incredible works like THE BOYS, PREACHER, PUNISHER MAX, CROSSED, and so many others, right?
So, when we see a new Ennis book coming out -- we take notice.
In ROVER RED CHARLIE, Ennis delivers a story like no other, as a band of canines set out to survive n their own for the first time, as a worldwide epidemic suddenly rids the Earth of all humans.
Folks, this is the story of three best friends... at the end of the world.
Charlie was a helper dog and he was good at getting his feeders safely around. Now, he and his pals Rover and Red must escape the failing New York City and find their way in this new order.
Ennis uses his incredible talent for creating rich and complex characters against the backdrop of sometimes horrific situations, and applies it to a whole new species.
One of our most anticipated new reads this month, make sure you check out ROVER RED CHARLIE this week, Third Eye Faithful.

JEFF LEMIRE'S EPIC ACTION-FILLED SCI-FI ROMANCE CONTINUES WITH THIS WEDNESDAY'S TRILLIUM #5
ANIMAL MAN and SWEET TOOTH scribe JEFF LEMIRE delivers one heck of a story, and his most recent hit, TRILLIUM has really had us HOOKED.
This is a book that's just downright unique in it's storytelling, and it's dense, well-rendered approach to the world it's building.
What's it about?
It's the year 3797, and botanist Nika Temsmith is researching a strange species on a remote science station near the outermost rim of colonized space.

It's the year 1921, and renowned English explorer William Pike leads an expedition into the dense jungles of Peru in search of the fabled "Lost Temple of the Incas," an elusive sanctuary said to have strange healing properties.

Two disparate souls separated by thousands of years and hundreds of millions of miles. Yet they will fall in love and, as a result, bring about the end of the universe.

Even though reality is unraveling all around them, nothing can pull them apart. This isn't just a love story; It's the LAST love story ever told.

Trillium is an 8-issue series that combines rich historical adventure and mind-bending science fiction into a sprawling, unconventional love story by Jeff Lemire (SWEET TOOTH, CONSTANTINE, ANIMAL MAN).

One of our favorite series of 2013, we dare you, we double-dare ya, to try issue #1 and NOT love it. Seriously: this book is MAGIC.

TERMINATOR: SALVATION -- THE FINAL BATTLE #1 RETURNS US TO THE WORLD OF TERMINATOR FROM ALL-STAR WRITER J. MICHAEL STRACZYNSKI (RISING STARS, SUPERMAN EARTH ONE, TEN GRAND, SIDEKICK)
We're big fans of J. Michael Straczynski, and all the amazing stuff he's done in comics, like SUPREME POWER, THE SIDEKICK, TEN GRAND, RISING STARS, and so much more.
So, when we saw that JMS was going to be bringing us what looks to be the biggest Terminator story to ever hit comics -- we just had to take notice.
Hopping between the future and the past, this sweeping twelve-issue epic counts down the end of the Machine War -- but it's an ending you guys aren't going to expect.
Everything's at stake, and the fates of Skynet and John Connor will be told in a way that you'll never see coming.
This was a fantastic read, and if you're a Terminator fan in the slightest, we highly recommend checking it out!

THE SAGA OF NIGHTCRAWLER'S RETURN CONTINUES IN AMAZING X-MEN #2 THIS WEDNESDAY
Dude: we loved the first issue of AMAZING X-MEN, as it picked up where the incredible arc of BATTLE OF THE ATOM concluded.
And, we're loving even more the direction this book is heading, as we see the imminent return of the one and only NIGHTCRAWLER.
In issue #2, the X-Men find themselves separated while on the search for everyone's favorite blue teleported.
Wolverine and Northstar find themselves mysteriously transported to the heavens -- but where does that leave the rest of the team? And, why do they smell brimstone?
The origins of Nightcrawler's abilities, as well as his return are explored as the Amazing X-Men head to LIMBO!
Jason Aaron, writer of THOR GOD OF THUNDER, is working some real magic here, and artist Ed McGuinness is bringing some of his best work since the RED HULK series to the book.
All around -- AMAZING X-MEN is a Marvel must-read.

VELVET #2 -- ONE OF THE BEST IMAGE RELEASES OF THE WINTER CONTINUES THIS WEEK! From the creative team behind: CAPTAIN AMERICA WINTER SOLDIER, as well as the writer of CRIMINAL, FATALE & SLEEPER!
Imagine the BEST Black Widow comic you've never read!
Velvet by Ed Brubaker & Steve Epting is one of our favorite new IMAGE books of the year -- and that's after just 1 issue. Seriously: this book hit every beat that we wanted it to, and then a bunch more that we weren't expecting.
In this week's issue #2, on the run from her own agency, Velvet is in search of what really got AGENT X-14 killed, and the only way to do that is to retrace his steps... and that's a pathway of dead bodies, ruined lives, and angry mercenary soldiers.
And along the way, one of Velvet's darkest secrets is revealed.
What's VELVET all about? When the world's best secret agent is killed, Velvet Templeton, the Personal Assistant to the Director of the Agency, is drawn off her desk and back into the field for the first time in nearly 20 years... and is immediately caught in a web of mystery, murder, and high-octane action.
A sexy, provocative, and very dark twist on the spy genre, VELVET captures the cold war paranoia of Brubaker's own work on CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER, while combining it with the no-holds-barred creator-owned storytelling of his work on CRIMINAL, FATALE & INCOGNITO.
Imagine if a BLACK WIDOW story was told in the real world -- no superpowers, no rules, just a bloody vicious spy story with a woman who knows all the world's darkest secrets, and will kill to keep them that way.
Epting's artwork is phenomenal as he brings the world of VELVET to life, and his action sequences are downright kinetic, as they bring life to the page.
Wanna get into it? We've got issue 1 in stock now to catch you up to this week's #2.

BATMAN / SUPERMAN #6 -- THE ICONIC DCU VILLAIN MONGUL RETURNS, AND THE COMBINED MIGHT OF BATMAN & SUPERMAN WILL BE NEEDED TO FEND HIM OFF!
One of our favorite DCU bad guys returns this week in BATMAN SUPERMAN #6, and we're pretty darn stoked.
A brand new story kicks off, as the dreaded MONGUL sets his sights on Earth.
He's wielded the Sinestro rings, he's conquered Superman AND Batman in an Alan Moore classic, and now, he's back in the NEW 52 and ready to make the entire planet of Earth suffer.
Unless, of course, BATMAN AND SUPERMAN, can fend him off.
Featuring artwork by the uber-talented Brett Booth, Mongul has never looked so bad-ass.
Wanna catch up on this stellar team-up book? We've got issues 1-5 in stock now to get you current.

THE STAR WARS #4 CONTINUES TO TELL THE UNTOLD STORY OF GEORGE LUCAS'S ORIGINAL CONCEPTS FOR STAR WARS!
By far, one of the coolest new things Dark Horse has been putting out has been THE STAR WARS, which takes the original concepts of George Lucas's rough draft for the STAR WARS TRILOGY and unfolds them into an entirely new story.
It's STAR WARS -- but everything is completely different from what you know and remember.
In this week's #4, General Skywalker and Jedi-in-Training Aannikin Starkiller have a deadly encounter with mounted Stormtroopers!
Meanwhile, an encounter with outlaws in a cantonal ears to a meeting with the intergalactic smuggler Han Solo!
And, a Jedi makes the ultimate sacrifice to save one of Princess Leia's younger brothers.
This 8-issue mini-series puts new twists on the original STAR WARS trilogy, and we're loving seeing it all unfold.
We're especially excited to see a whole new spin on the classic Star Wars CANTINA scene from A NEW HOPE in this week's #4.
Wanna catch up? We've got issues 1-3 in stock to catch you up to this week's #4.

DEADPOOL KILLS DEADPOOL ARRIVES IN TRADE PAPERBACK THIS WEDNESDAY, COLLECTING THE FINAL ACT OF THE 'DEADPOOL KILLOGY' THAT BEGAN WITH DEADPOOL KILLS THE MARVEL UNIVERSE & CONTINUED WITH DEADPOOL KILLUSTRATED!
Here it is, Third Eye Faithful! The final act of Cullen Bunn's stellar DEADPOOL KILLOGY!
DEADPOOL has set his sights on the ultimate target: himself! Seriously -- he's gonna die in this one, and it's not gonna be pretty.
The question is: which DEADPOOL bites the bullet?
See, there's a lot of voices in ol' Wade Wilson's head, and he's decided it's time to thin the Deadpool herd here.
But, when Deadpool targets Deadpool... only DEADPOOL can win!
Another uber-violent slice of DEADPOOL ridiculousness, DEADPOOL KILLS DEADPOOL may be the best yet of the KILLOGY.

THE STEAMPUNKY ALT-HISTORY WORLD OF CARBON GREY RETURNS IN CARBON GREY VOL.3 #1 THIS WEDNESDAY!
LOVE GORGEOUS ART & STEAMPUNK / DIESELPUNK?
YOU'LL DIG CARBON GREY!
We've been big fans of Image's CARBON GREY series for the last few years, with it's jaw-dropping visuals, and it's compelling story -- so, when we saw a brand new one was arriving this week -- we knew we were in for some more awesomeness!
Long ago, a child fled a revolution. She stole another's name, betrayed a king, took his country to war, and turned sister against sister -- all to reclaim her Father's throne.
She is Raisa Vasilyeva, illegitimate child of a Czar, Queen of Mitteleuropa, and now... destroyer of all things.
The Sisters Grey return for this final act in the saga of CARBON GREY, and we could not be more stoked.
What's CARBON GREY all about? To a noble family twins were born: Mathilde and Giselle, the Sisters Grey. For centuries the Greys have protected the Kaiser, ruler of Mitteleuropa -- but this is a different time.
At the dawn of the industrial age, a great war rages on. When the Kaiser is found dead, Giselle is accused of his murder.
Now, pursued by her sisters and hunted by the enemy Giselle must unravel the prophecy of the Carbon Grey before history itself is re-written.
Want to get into CARBON GREY? You can snag the first trade paperback for only $9.99, and then catch up with that and the second book to get current for this week's third and final installment.

INJUSTICE Writer TOM TAYLOR continues his incredible new run on EARTH-2, as "SUPERMAN: HERALD OF DARKSEID" continues!
Last month's EARTH 2 #17 was one of our favorite new books, and really brought a sharp new take to the pretty awesome already DCU title.
With writer TOM TAYLOR, the man who made INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US so darn kick-ass, penning the series -- we know we're in for a real treat, and if the chapter 1 last month was any indication; he's just getting warmed up!
This week's chapter 2, in EARTH-2 #18, shows us that the new Batman of EARTH 2 tries to turn the tide in the war against the forces of Darkseid and Apokolips -- by using an army of iconic Batman and Superman villains against him.
Oh, and Superman? He's as bad as bad can be in this one; having killed several heroes already, ripped a ton of random dudes in half, and using his heat vision like the Omega Effect to blow a few guys heads off.
Yes: this comic rules. Seriously. If you dig stuff like SUPERMAN: RED SON, or INJUSTICE, you need to be reading EARTH 2.
Wanna hop on board? Start with issue #17, and this week's #18.

BURN THE ORPHANAGE #2: BORN TO LOSE #2 -- THE SECOND CHAPTER OF THE BORN TO LOSE TRILOGY ARRIVES!
A THIRD EYE FAVORITE -- IMAGINE EVERY 16-BIT BEAT-EM UP VIDEO GAME YOU LOVED (ALA STREETS OF RAGE, FINAL FIGHT, ETC.) BOILED DOWN INTO ONE GREAT COMIC!
Folks, we LOVED the first chapter of BURN THE ORPHANGAE: BORN TO LOSE, heck, we loved it so much we did one of our kick-butt THIRD EYE variants for it.
And, now, we're even more amped to see the second chapter arriving with this week's act two.
In issue #2, the events of BURN THE ORPHANAGE have led Rock down a dark patch, where he finds himself on a hidden island, forced to compete in the ultimate martial arts tournament -- one where the participants may not all be that human.
Can we say.. MORTAL KOMBAT? :)
Seriously though: this comic is truly a love letter to the '90s, and classic arcade and console games. The aesthetic, the styles, everything just captures that era so perfectly, and combined with the fact that it's just plain awesome, we love it.
Wanna get into it? We've got issue 1 in stock now to catch you up to this week's #2.

SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #23 *DARKEST HOURS CHAPTER 2* -- COULD THIS BE.. VENOM NO MORE? Who WILL host the symbiote, and will we see a.. Superior Venom?
Superior Spider-Man just gets better, and better... and this week's SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #23 continues one of the hottest arcs in the storyline yet: the road to SUPERIOR VENOM!
In this second chapter of DARKEST HOURS, Otto Octavius takes another big step in his life as Peter Parker... could a big part of Flash Thompson's life be coming to a close?
Will he be.. VENOM NO MORE?
More with MJ! More with Carlie! More with the Green Goblin! And, after half a century, one of the most cringe-worthy moments in all of Spider-History -- we guaran-damn-tee it!
So stoked. Can't wait to see where this leads us next!

JONATHAN HICKMAN, writer of EAST OF WEST & MANHATTAN PROJECTS, continues his epic GOD IS DEAD this week with issue #4
Hickman is one of our faves, from his Marvel work on INFINITY, SHIELD and SECRET WARRIORS to his creator-owned stuff like EAST OF WEST & MANHATTAN PROJECTS, so it should be no surprise that this kick-ass AVATAR series has us hooked!
In GOD IS DEAD, the various deities of all religions, ranging from Odin and Zeus to Kali and Krishna, have united to repay the arrogance of man with some serious doomsday.
As the End of Days arrive, the Asgardians destroy pantheon after pantheon in their quest for total domination, and the human race's last hope is a desperate gamble to create their own god weapon.
But, when the divine turns out to be the Anti-Christ, it leaves very few options other than obliteration for all mankind.
Hickman delivers a story like no other where the hubris of man is the only thing standing between freedom and eternal subjugation.
Death rides on a Pale horse, and he's not too far away from bringing his three buddies to bear on the planet Earth.
Kick-ass sci-fi / horror / fantasy storytelling from one of comics modern masters; snag this one this week!

VERTIGO'S NEW HINTERKIND SERIES HAS US HOOKED, CHECK OUT HINTERKIND #3 THIS WEDNESDAY!
Vertigo has been putting out some really stellar new series this year, and Hinterkind has been a big favorite here at the shop.
Decades after 'The Blight' all but wiped out the human race, Mother Nature is taking back what's her's, and she's not alone.. the Hinterkind have returned.
From the last, lost corners of the world they come, a myriad menagerie of myth and magic.. but these aren't childhood fairytale creatures.
They are flesh, blood and passion, and they have a long-simmering hatred for those who drove them into the shadows: the human race!
After her grandfather disappears, Prosper monday must leave the security and seclusion of their Central Park village to venture into the wilds to find him, unaware of how much the world has changed. Or how hungry it has become..
A must for fans of post-apocalyptic fiction, as well as stuff like FABLES, it's a unique blend of the modern fantasy story with the dystopia sci-fi story.. and we love it.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #9 *INFINITY TIE-IN* -- ONE OF MARVEL'S BEST READS CONTINUES TO GET EVEN BETTER!
The events of INFINITY continue to spread their impact to Marvel's cosmic defenders in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #9 this week, and we're loving it.
This series has really done an incredible job of establishing the Guardians of the Galaxy as not only a real deal legit super-team in the Marvel U, but also cementing the series as one of the top Marvel reads on the stands today.
ALL NEW X-MEN scribe BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS does an incredible job of building a world that's relatable and down to earth while at the same time capturing that STAR WARS meets FIREFLY kinda vibe that makes us love the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY so darn much.
We can see pretty clearly that much of what Bendis is building here will be the framework for what's to come in the upcoming Guardians film, and that has us even more pumped.
Wanna get into the book? We've got issues 1-8 in stock now, or you can hop on with the first graphic novel, to get up to date.
