Written by EAST OF WEST and INFINITY scribe JONATHAN HICKMAN, Avengers 24.NOW is the opening chapter of a new era for the AVENGERS.
A new team of the AVENGERS is being assembled, an AVENGERS for the 21st century, and while Iron Man and Captain America are laying out the roster -- a runaway planet is discovered to be on a collision course with Earth.
Is the visitor from the far future that saves the day a friend, or a foe in disguise?
Serving as the centerpiece of MARVEL NOW, AVENGERS is the flagship title of the line, and is THE perfect book to get into if you want to be ready for any major universe-crossing events, as well as being able to stay caught up with the biggest icons in the Marvel NOW stable.
Folks, on a personal note, I cannot tell you enough how fantastic Hickman's work on AVENGERS has been. I mean, this IS the man who brought THANOS back as a major threat this past Summer, after all. He definitely knows what he's doing when it comes to the icons of the Marvel Universe.
Outside of Joss Whedon, there's probably no one who gets what makes the Earth's Mightiest Heroes so darn mighty besides Hickman. I mean, he is the DEFINITION of bigger-than-life blockbuster superhero action.
And, on the art chores? THOR: GOD OF THUNDER 'THE GOD BUTCHER' artist ESAD RIBIC. This guy's stuff is INCREDIBLE, and we dare you to look at the interior art on this book and NOT be hooked. Seriously: you're going to be in love with it from page 1.
Avengers 24.NOW comes out on a special Christmas Eve Tuesday NEW COMIC DAY, and we're going to be doing a ton of awesome stuff to celebrate the arrival of MARVEL NOW WAVE 2 with this issue.

What is MARVEL NOW?
By now, most of you guys and gals are probably pretty stoked about Marvel NOW -- and we haven't even begun talking about some of the exciting new launch titles kicking off! But, for those of you who may not understand the concept of Marvel NOW... here's the scoop.
Starting last year, Marvel has dedicated themselves to an initiative called MARVEL NOW, which helps keep their existing titles fresh and easy to hop aboard without having to read 200 back issues, while at the same time taking classic characters who may not have a series, and giving them a fresh start at #1 again.
This isn't quite the same thing as NEW 52, where they rebooted the continuity totally -- Marvel's talented crew of creators are basically taking the characters, getting them back to the core of what makes them awesome, and giving you a new reader-friendly jumping on point.
You can almost think of it as getting a new Doctor in Doctor Who. While going back and rewatching past seasons is rewarding, it's not necessary to hop aboard with the new guy, and watch the show.
So, whether you're in Third Eye every week picking up the latest issue of SAGA or a stack of graphic novels, or if you're someone who hasn't picked up a comic in years for fear of not knowing where to jump in, or how to get caught up without a ton of books -- MARVEL NOW is the perfect place to get into some of the most exciting, and compelling characters in comics.
