This Week's Highlights at Third Eye Comics for Wednesday 6/4/14

BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA MAKES IT'S COMIC BOOK DEBUT WITH BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA #1 THIS WEDNESDAY!
Get the exclusive THIRD EYE Variant this week for only $3.99!
Guys, we are so pumped for this comic -- it's an understatement to even say stoked, because we are HUGE fans of John Carpenter's cult favorite, BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA.

And, then factor in the addition of Eric Powell as the main writer for this new spin on ol' Jack Burton and the crazy world that awaits him after the original events of BIG TROUBLE, and you know we're on board.

The humor is spot on, the over-the-top action is there, and the creepy horror elements of the original film are right on target... this book literally takes all of the charm that made the movie so good and pours out into the page, as it brings an all new BIG TROUBLE story to be told.

He may have helped his buddy save his fiancee from the clutches of a demon, but now the wedding has been invaded by more evil forces, and they've got one thing and one thing only on their minds: revenge against Jack Burton.

Plus! We did an incredible THIRD EYE variant of BIG TROUBLE #1 by the very talented Jimmy Giegerich, check it out below!

This June, DC is going to be doing something extremely cool by releasing a full set of special edition, limited variant covers... and at cover price!

And, even better, they've chosen to begin this promotion with their brand new DC Bombshells month, featuring exclusive variant covers on each of their flagship "New 52" titles featuring the iconic characters of the DCU done in traditional pin-up art style.

We're huge fans of the "Bombshell" statues and t-shirts that DC has done, and these covers may be the coolest installment in their "BOMBSHELL" theme yet.

THE MOST SHOCKING TAKE ON RIVERDALE YOU'LL EVER SEE ARRIVES IN TRADE PAPERBACK THIS WEDNESDAY WITH AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE TPB VOL.1!
We're totally all about the recent AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE series, and we're stoked to see it arriving in graphic novel format this week so those of you who may have waited to jump on board now have no excuse NOT to read this awesome take on the kids of Riverdale.

First off: this is definitely not an Archie comic that can be shelved with the normal Archie books. It's a dark, and downright gruesome horror tale that shows us what happens when the undead roam the streets of Riverdale, and with artist FRANCESCO FRANCAVILLA on art chores, you know it's a sinister looking book.

In AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE, when Jughead's beloved pet Hot Dog is killed in a hit and run, Jughead turns to the only person he knows who can help bring back his canine companion: Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Using dark, forbidden magic, Sabrina successfully brings Hot Dog back to the land of the living -- but he's no the same as before, and soon, the darkness he brings back with him from beyond the grave begins to spread, forcing Archie and the Gang to try and escape Riverdale.

This killer new ongoing series is a must-read, and truly delivers a great blend of good storytelling and solid artwork.

Folks: we know we've been saying it a lot, but man, is Iron Fist great or what? Seriously, one of our favorite of the new MARVEL LINE-UP, for sure.

Kaare Andrews is delivering a pure clinic here on how to tell a kick-ass comic story, and the artwork that accompanies his excellent writing is some of the best on the stands.

This week: K'UN LUN is in RUINS!

Ninja nurses versus killers in suits!

And, our villain's face is revealed... and, surprise: it's one terribly close to Danny Rand's heart.

Image's hit new series, NAILBITER, brings us NAILBITER #2 this Wednesday!
Meet writer Joshua Williamson at Third Eye This Saturday!
We loved the debut issue of NAILBITER, in fact, we dug it so much we had to invite it's writer Joshua Williamson out to Third Eye for a release party for this week's issue #2.

But, we'll get to that in a sec -- in the meantime, we need to tell you just why we love NAILBITER so freakin' much.

With a feel that's very reminiscent of HBO's TRUE DETECTIVE, this eerie new horror / crime drama from IMAGE COMICS is a must-read.

A unique blend of Twin Peaks and SE7EN, the story takes us to Buckaroo, Oregon, a town that's given birth to sixteen of the vilest serial killers in the world.

An obsessed FBI profiler investigating the town and why it produces monsters has suddenly gone missing, and now an NSA Agent must work with the notorious serial killer Edward 'Nailbiter' Warren to find his friend and solve the mystery of: Where do serial killers come from?

In this week's issue #2, we see that Officer Nicholas Finch doesn't care about Buckaroo's serial killers or its secrets -- he just wants to find his missing friend.

With time running out he turns to the one man who has all the answers: the infamous Nailbiter.

VAMPIRELLA RETURNS TO MONTHLY COMICS IN THE BRAND NEW VAMPIRELLA #1 THIS WEDNESDAY!
From legendary horror novelist Nancy A. Collins.
In FEAST OF SHADOWS, the first in the 6-part OUR LADY OF SHADOWS story arc, Vampirella is sent by the Vatican to investigate the kidnapping of a little girl by Ethan Shroud and the Chaos cultists, only to become the centerpiece of a ritual invoking Lady Umbra, the sister bride of Chaos.

This leaves her marked as a living sacrifice to the dark goddess who rules the shadows, and folks, from there.. things get crazy.

Written by splatter punk horror legend Nancy A. Collins (Sunglasses After Dark), this new Vampi series may be the best one we've seen in ages!

Marvel's epic ORIGINAL SIN event continues with this week's ORIGINAL SIN #3
We're loving the direction that THOR GOD OF THUNDER writer JASON AARON is taking with ORGIINAL SIN, and cannot wait to read this week's issue #3.

In the wake of last issue's explosion of secrets, the heroes of the Marvel U are reeling, leaving Nick Fury to stand alone.

He Who Holds The Eye is still on the run, and now we meet his boss, the villainous mastermind behind the raid on the Watcher's lair.

And, meanwhile, deep in space, the Winter Soldier leads a team that uncovers the most bizarre murder of all.

A murder mystery on a cosmic scale, ORGINAL SIN is delivering a fast-paced, compelling and unique take on the Marvel Universe that spans all the icons of the Marvel U.

So, how awesome is this? The kitschy campy goodness of BATMAN '66 and the kung-fu retro goodness of GREEN HORNET combine under the very talented writing of SMODCAST / CLERKS legend KEVIN SMITH.

Set in the continuity of the original team-up that aired in 1967, Batman, the Green Hornet, Robin and Kato must go up against a very different General Gumm.

What crime could be so deadly as to force these rivals to put aside their differences and join forces again?

Plus: how can you say no to Kevin Smith writing new comics? How rad is that!?

BOOM'S KILLER NEW HORROR SERIES, THE WOODS, DELIVERS THIS WEEK WITH "THE WOODS" #2!
We loved the debut issue of THE WOODS, and are totally pumped for the second issue hitting this week at Third Eye.

While the crew of students led by Adrian and Karen come face to face with the unseen terrors of the alien woods, tensions boil over back at the school as power-hungry players seize the opportunity to take control.

What's THE WOODS all about? In the vein of SHELTERED or MORNING GLORIES, the WOODS delivers an eerie take on horror, and we love every second of it.

On October 16, 2013, 437 students, 52 teachers and 24 additional staff from Bay Point Preparatory High School in suburban Milwaukee, WI vanished without a trace.

Countless light years away, far outside the bounds of the charted universe, 513 people find themselves in the middle of an ancient, primordial wilderness.

Where are they? The answers will prove stranger than anyone could ever possibly imagine.

TED MCKEEVER RETURNS WITH SUPERANNUATED MAN #1 THIS WEDNESDAY, DELIVERING PURE WEIRD AWESOMENESS FROM IMAGE COMICS!
By the time most people realized it, they were no longer in charge of the world we know.

In an unspecified future, the small seaside town of Blackwater has now been taken over by advanced and mutated animals.

Most of the humans that lived there are now either dead or gone, but one old-man remains, scavenging off the scraps and refuse of humanity's past, and doggedly defying the new tenants who've taken his home.

We're a big fan of Ted McKeever and the truly unique weirdness he delivers with his comic projects, and this one looks to be another hit for McKeever.

Snag one this week at Third Eye!
