This Week's Highlights at Third Eye Comics for Wednesday 1/14/15

Star Wars returns to Marvel Comics with STAR WARS #1 this Wednesday, paving the road to the canon of EPISODE VII The Force Awakens!

Get ready for the first glimpse into the official Star Wars canon, after the events of A NEW HOPE, as the groundwork for the upcoming new film is laid! The biggest STAR WARS comic release in decades!
It's been decades since Marvel Comics published STAR WARS comics, and while there's no doubt that Dark Horse did terrific things with the license, we gotta say: we are so stoked to see Star Wars returning home in their brand new ongoing STAR WARS monthly series.
Written by THOR & SOUTHERN BASTARDS scribe JASON AARON, with art by the uber-talented JOHN CASSADAY (Astonishing X-Men, Planetary), the brand new STAR WARS ongoing brings the greatest space adventure of all time back to Marvel!
In STAR WARS, Luke Skywalker and the ragtag band of rebels fighting against the galactic empire are fresh off their biggest victory yet -- the destruction of the DEATH STAR.
But, the Empire's not toppld yet! Join Luke, Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2, along with the rest of the Rebel Alliance as they strike out for freedom against the evil forces of the Empire!
Picking up immediately after the events of STAR WARS EPISODE IV: A NEW HOPE, Star Wars chronicles the crucial stories that happened in between the films -- and with Marvel and Disney having the relationship they do -- you can bet that this one is in-canon, and in continuity!
We are so pumped about this one, Third Eye Faithful, that we can practically hear that legendary cinematic score in our heads as we're writing this.

American Vampire ranks up there with LOCKE & KEY as one of the best horror comics of the modern age, and if you haven't yet tried it out, we highly recommend giving it a shot!
In this intriguing tale that reads like Goodfellas or Once Upon A Time in America with vampires, we're introduced to Pearl, a young woman living in 1920s Los Angeles, who is brutally turned into a vampire, and set upon a righteous path of revenge against the European monsters who tortured and abused her.
Meanwhile, we learn the tale of the very first American Vampire, Skinner Sweet, many years prior, during the Old West, as the story of Skinner Sweet is told, and he ends up growing into a central figure who will have a major influence on Pearl.
Taking the concept of each region of the world producing different variations on the vampiric infection, with unique strengths and weaknesses, American Vampire is a fantastic story that spans generations, and blends real world history with the supernatural to tell one heck of a great story.

Pure terror all the way through, CROSSED is over-the-top, and if you've never read it, and you love horror comics, you gotta give it a shot!
