THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS @ THIRD EYE COMICS!

DAMON LINDELOFF OF "LOST" FAME WRITES WOLVERINE VS. HULK!

This week, we have something very exciting for all of you guys! Damon Lindeloff, the writer of the smash hit television show LOST, is dishing out his treatment of the MARVEL Universe in the pages of this week's ULTIMATE HULK vs. WOLVERINE #1!  While this mini-series actually began almost two years ago, Lindeloff was never able to finish the series, and it got put on an almost definite hiatus. Which was a shame, because I can tell you guys that having read those first two issues of the series.... this was one of the most VICIOUS treatments given to both Hulk and Wolverine. With amazing artwork by SECRET INVASION artist Lenil Francis Yu, this series gave us some amazing shots of HULK ripping Wolverine in two... and tossing his body miles apart. How much cooler can you get than that?

Well, this week we're in luck because the series is being rei-issued, for all of you who missed it the first time around, and this week the very first issue of this sure to be a hit series drops. So, if you haven't already picked it up, or if you need to refresh your memory.. then give this one a look. It's guaranteed good stuff, and we give it the THIRD EYE seal of approval.

AND BELOW, THIS WEEK'S DARK REIGN FORECAST! A BIG ONE!

SECRET WARRIORS #1  BEGINS EXCITING NEW MARVEL SERIES FEATURING NICK FURY!

Marvel has made a big rep for themselves over the last few years for taking old characters and giving them renewed life and excitement. One of the biggest characters to get re-invented, and revitalized has been Nick Fury. He went from being the '90s jetpack wearing lameo to the cold-blooded spy that he once was many years ago. Well, one of the most exciting new series that's spinning out of DARK REIGN is the new SECRET WARRIORS ongoing series. This new series focuses on the group that Fury put together in the midst of Secret Invasion. A group of younger, new Marvel characters that are the offspring and descendants of various Marvel characters. And with up and coming writer Jonathan Hickman (critically acclaimed series like Pax Romana, Red Mass For Mars, Transhuman, Nightly News, and more) taking on writing chores alongside BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS (Dark Avengers, New Avengers, Secret Invasion), you know this one is going to be a good read.

I have to say after checking out the preview of this new book, it looks awesome! I've got the same kind of buzz feeling for this that I did for new books like YOUNG AVENGERS that turned into runaway smash hits. Great art, great story, and finally, a sense of legacy characters for the Marvel universe.

PUNISHER #2 - THE NEXT ISSUE OF THIS AMAZING NEW ONGOING SERIES!

The new Punisher series from Rick Remender and Jerome Opena is OFF THE HOOK. This series is one of the freshest new takes on the Punisher since the Punisher MAX series began. The first issue sold out extremely quick, and went to a second print, but don't worry, if you missed the first one... we still got a limited number of Punisher #1 first prints in, so you don't have to wait until the second print to jump onto this great new series. Why do we like the new Punisher series so much? Well, first off.. it's the first time in a very long time that they've actually managed to incorporate the Punisher back into the mainline Marvel universe, and not have it totally suck. The first issue starts us off with Frank Castle trying to snipe Norman Osborn's head off with a Skrull sniper rifle, and then the Sentry proceeding to whip his butt... and of course, there's a little mystery as we find out Frank's got some help in his one man crusade against Norman Osborn, the U.S Government, and his Dark Avengers.

NEW BLACK PANTHER SERIES BRINGS US A NEW BLACK PANTHER, BUT WHO IS... SHE?

One of the coolest Secret Invasion tie ins was Jason Aaron's three issue run of Black Panther. It was awesome seeing Skrull's beheaded, and Wakanda send the invading Skrull armies running. And the artwork on the arc was out of this world cool. Now, in the aftermath of Secret Invasion, the big question in this new world of villains calling the shots... who is the new Black Panther? And what happened to T'challa in the wake of Secret Invasion?

A guaranteed recipe for success, we've got a hot chick as the new Black Panther, and Dr. Doom even makes an appearance in this issue... which you know ties it firmly into the main storyline of Dark Reign.

AGENTS OF ATLAS #1 BRINGS BACK CULT-FAVORITE SUPERTEAM!

One of the best new miniseries we've read here at Third Eye in the last few years was AGENTS OF ATLAS, an awesome twist on an old WHAT IF? story about a super-spy team composed of obscure fan favorites like Marvel Boy, Gorilla Man, and Venus... yeah, I know, who are these people? Well, trust us, Jeff Parker made these characters into some of the best new characters we've checked out in a Marvel boy. We're so stoked to see the AGENTS OF ATLAS getting incorporated into the mainline Marvel universe, and we're glad to know that their sleeper hit mini was only a taste of things to come. What happens when you're a super spy who has to take on your old enemy's identity, and run his criminal empire... just to keep doing what you're made to do? Well, find out in the pages of AGENTS OF ATLAS. Trust us, and give this one a shot.
We know it's a little bit outside the norm of what you might usually go for, but trust us, it's a great new introduction into the Marvel universe, and we're pumped to see the team back.

DEADPOOL #7 - The Merc With A Mouth is Unstoppable!

There's not much more left to say about Deadpool. We love him, you love him, and we know you're stoked to know that it's time for another issue of carnage, insanity, and wisecracks. This one wraps up the two-part story of How Low Can You Go, and gives us more Tiger Shark madness... and it also sets us up for the next issues of Deadpool, which will be crossing over with the quickly heating up Thunderbolts series.. yup. Dark Reign hits ol' Deadpool hard!

INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #10 - A BIG issue for Dark Reign!

Anyone who's been following the amazing World's Most Wanted storyline that began in Invincible Iron Man #8 is going to want to scoop up Invincible Iron Man #10 this Wednesday. Matt Fraction has turned Iron Man into one hell of a book, and we've been backing it hard since the very first issue... however, I have to say that the World's Most Wanted storyline is probably the highlight of his run so far. Marvel has given us a little inside scoop that this issue, Invincible Iron Man #10, is supposed to bring VERY VERY BIG things to the world of Iron Man, and we're excited to see just where things are going.

GRANT MORRISON ANNOUNCES READING ORDER FOR FINAL CRISIS!

We know, Final Crisis probably still has your heads spinning, as we try to make some sense of what's come to be of the DCU. I actually came across an interview where Morrison has explained the reading order of Final Crisis and the tie-ins for it that he had written himself... and so, I sat down this weekend, read through everything in it's intended order, and I have to say... the story makes MUCH more sense this way. It's still a lot of information to take in, but, it comes together much more nicely. I'll warn you though, Final Crisis definitely not the most accessible entry point into the DCU for new readers, so if you're looking to catch up on your Crisis, stop by the shop and let us point you to some trade paperbacks that'll get you prepped for this one. Now, as for everyone else.. here's the checklist/reading order for Final Crisis as given by Grant Morrison:
FINAL CRISIS 1-3
SUPERMAN BEYOND 1-2
FINAL CRISIS: SUBMIT ONE-SHOT
FINAL CRISIS 4-5
BATMAN 682-683
FINAL CRISIS 6-7
And don't sweat it if you missed any of these tie-ins.. we currently have EVERYTHING fully stocked here at Third Eye for you to scoop up, so if you're trying to get a better sense of the story, just pick up those missing issues, and give it a go!

DC BEGINS ORIGINS & OMENS THIS WEEK, WHICH HAS HINTS OF WHAT'S TO COME WITH BLACKEST NIGHT! PICK UP THIS WEEK'S ADVENTURE COMICS #0 (ONLY $1!) FOR A BIG SURPRISE!

Running through a handful of different core DCU titles, the Origins and Omens back-up stories promise to bring back a continuity to the DCU, and help re-introduce readers to characters. Apparently, the origins will be retold (some slightly tweaked), and the narrator of each of these back up stories plays heavily into the events of this summer's eagerly anticipated Blackest Night event. Here's a checklist of the titles that Origins and Omens will be running through:
-Adventure Comics #0
-Nightwing #153
-Secret Six #6
-Action Comics #874
-Booster Gold #17
-Green Arrow/Black Canary #17
-Green Lantern Corps #33
-Titans #10
-The Outsiders #15
-Birds of Prey #127
-JLA #30
-Robin #183
-Supergirl #38
-Vigilante #3
-Green Lantern #38
-JSA #24
-Superman #685
-Teen Titans #68
-Wonder Woman #29

This week, Adventure Comics #0 is the kick-off to the all-new ADVENTURE COMICS series from DC Comics. This is a reprint of the original Adventure Comics #247, where Superboy first met the Legion of Superheroes.. and apparently that entire plot plays strongly into how things figure into the future of this year's DC titles. The real draw on this one though is it's the first chapter of the Origins and Omens issues, and promises to have a big surprise in store.. lets hope their promise comes to be!

THE PUBLISHERS OF CITY OF DUST KICK OFF BRAND NEW WARREN ELLIS SERIES WITH HOTWIRE #1!! THIS ONE LOOKS SWEET!

Out of all the new smaller publishers that have risen up in the last few years, we have to say that we've been most impressed with RADICAL. They've brought us some great new series with books like CITY OF DUST, which has really blown away a lot of readers... and we think we're about to see their next big success story. WARREN ELLIS (writer of Transmetropolitan, Doctor Sleepless, Fell, Planetary, ect ect) brings us HOTWIRE this week, and we're super stoked after seeing some of the preview pages.
What's the story on HOTWIRE? In a future where wireless internet signals and the supernatural go hand in hand, Alice Hotwire, is the local resident Detective Exorcist. She's the one who is responsible for all the undead villains and victims in this city of ghosts.
Why you should give it a shot? Are you reading City of Dust, and totally hooked? Yeah, we are too. Combine the production values of Radical, the amazing artwork of Steve Pugh (mostly known for Vertigo works), and of course, the master storytelling of WARREN ELLIS. and you got yourself a must-read title here. DON'T SLEEP ON HOTWIRE!

Without a doubt, Legion of 3 Worlds has been one of THE best, if not the BEST tie-in of all the Final Crisis books. Geoff Johns does the impossible by making the Legion accessible to new readers.. and he gives us an awesome twisted trip to the future, and guess who's there to crash the party? Superboy Prime. Of course, George Perez's amazing pencils make this one out to be a great read that we can't help but get stoked on... what can you expect out of this week's issue? It's Superboy Prime vs. the Last of the Green Lanterns! And, a look back to the 20th Century... where Polar Boy, Wildfire and Dawnstar are up to some kind of wackiness.. Guaranteed good stuff from DC in this one. Don't miss it!

DEAD IRONS #1 BEGINS NEW WEIRD WESTERN/HORROR SERIES FROM DARK TOWER ARTIST JAE LEE!

Jae Lee has been a favorite of our's for years. His amazing art on the Marvel Knights Inhumans maxiseries... his creator-owned stuff like Hellshock.. lets face it, the man has a style all his own, and it never fails to impress. Lately, he's been most well known for his DARK TOWER work which has been consistently top notch!
So, here comes Jae Lee with this awesome Weird West concept (and we're a sucker for the Weird West)... all we can say about this one is evil bounty hunters, a cursed spirit of vengeance, and more weird west mutations than you can shake a stick at. It's dark, moody, and we're pretty excited to see where things go with this brand new series. Click here  to take a look at some preview pages of DEAD IRONS #1!
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #585 CONTINUES "CHARACTER ASSASSINATION" WITH "CHARACTER ASSASSINATION" CHAPTER 2!

Isn't it great when JOHN ROMITA JR is doing Spider-man? It just makes the entire story better. Well, we have to say that this is the first big story arc since NEW WAYS TO DIE that we've been completely stoked on. The secrets of Menace continue to unravel, as it's a head to head with Spidey vs. Menace. This issue promises some big reveals for this new Goblin, and we're pumped to see what they are. Plus, IT'S JOHN ROMITA JR on art! I mean, it's not often that an artist alone can get us hopping on a title... but, if it's Romita.. well we're on board. Not to mention, the story in CHARACTER ASSASSINATION is pretty darn good in and of itself! Click here to read more about AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #585!

I AM LEGION #1 - FEATURING ASTONISHING X-MEN & PLANETARY ARTIST JOHN CASSADAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Know how I just said it takes one hell of an artist to get us onboard a series based on his name alone? Well, John Cassaday is one of the illustrious few who can do that to us. That's why we gave him the 50 billion exclamation mark salute. You know those Joss Whedon Astonishing X-Men issues you dug so much? Well he's the one who made 'em look so darn pretty. And, for those of you who've gotten to read Planetary (and if you haven't, I give the series my highest recommendation, swing through and snag the trades sometime), you know what I'm talking about. He's amazing. And guess what? This week, from DEVILS DUE, he's got a brand new series starting up.
What is I AM LEGION? It's an eight issue miniseries set at the end of World War II, giving us an out of the norm vampire story about Nazis racing to control a ten year old Vampire named Ana, while Allied forces try to find Hitler's spies in their ranks. And man, is the art in this NICE. So, you not only get a gritty war story.. but you get a gritty war story with VAMPIRES! And it's amazingly drawn too.

WAR OF KINGS BRINGS BACK... DARKHAWK!! NO, IT ACTUALLY LOOKS REALLY AWESOME!

Marvel has gotten themselves an unlimited amount of credibitly from us when it comes to re-inventing older characters that we never thought could be cool again. I'll admit, I never got down with DARKHAWK back in the day. Now, no offense to the legions of DARKHAWK fans out there, but.. just wasn't my thing. HOWEVER, I am totally pumped to see what they're going to do with the character in the new WAR OF KINGS: DARKHAWK  . Hot off the trails of his appearance in the awesome new Nova series, the latest champion to be given a spotlight in the WAR OF KINGS is the former NEW WARRIOR DARKHAWK.
Why we're excited? Marvel has gotten themselves a great track record of taking old characters from our youth and making them cool again.. plus, Darkhawk has an awesome visual. Not to mention, his origin and past are ripe to be fleshed out by some of Marvel's most talented writers. And most of all? This is the perfect spot for readers to jump aboard a brand new exciting character being introduced to the Marvel universe. Ontop of all that, it's WAR OF KINGS, baby... and so far all the WAR OF KINGS stuff has been golden.

MARVEL NOIR CONTINUES THIS WEEK WITH X-MEN NOIR #3!

We all are absolutely loving the Marvel Noir stuff, and we're extremely stoked on this week's issue of X-MEN NOIR #3! All we can say is.. Marvel Noir Logan and Marvel Noir Cyclops, tooth and claw, eye for an eye... oh we're clever here at Third Eye, aren't we? But seriously, X-MEN NOIR #3... PUMPED. SCOTT PILGRIM v.5: SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE UNIVERSE ON THE SHELVES THIS WEEK!

We love us some Scott Pilgrim! Each volume of this great little story features Scott Pilgrim fighting the evil ex-boyfriends of his new sweetheart... and of course, all the wackiness of being an unemployed 20-something musician. Words can't do this series justice.. all we can say is every page is chockfull of energy, and keeps the story moving smoothly and fun. If you grew up on 2D Side Scrolling video games, Working Designs RPGs, and punk rock, then Scott Pilgrim is for you. It's the perfect combination of comic book goodness, rock n roll, video game awesomeness, and California rolls that make a comic like this stand out.
