THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS @ THIRD EYE COMICS!

....
DARK REIGN HITS BIG THIS WEEK WITH NEW AVENGERS #50 & MORE!

IT'S THE DARK AVENGERS VS. THE NEW AVENGERS IN THIS WEEK'SNEW AVENGERS #50!

This is the big one, folks! It's the showdown between the New Avengers and the Dark Avengers in the pages of NEW AVENGERS #50. It's been building since the end of Secret Invasion, and now things aree really coming to a head with this week's issue of New Avengers #50. You do NOT want to miss this one, folks!

Dark Reign is rocking our socks more and more, and we've been loving Bendis's new take on the New Avengers. The new line-up, and the addition of Captain America (well, Bucky Cap) has really given a breath of fresh air to this series. This big landmark issue is a great spot to hop onboard to the series.

What's the scoop? Well, the New Avengers find out about the existence of the Dark Avengers around the same time that the entire Marvel Universe does on national TV. And they're not too keen on the idea of this new team. A new team composed of villains, neutral characters, and morally grey newcomers. Dark Avengers has been one of the hottest new titles to hit the stands here at Third Eye, and we can guarantee that this issue of New Avengers will be in high demand this week! This is going to be one of the key spots of Dark Reign! Even if you don't normally grab the New Avengers, but have been following Dark Reign or Dark Avengers, then you should definitely scoop this one up. If you'd like for us to pull one for you, then just shoot us an email. Click here to read a preview of NEW AVENGERS #50!

MIGHTY AVENGERS #22 A BRAND NEW TEAM IN THE SHADOW OF DARK REIGN! IT'S AVENGER VS. AVENGER! Dark Reign has been shaking up things in a big way for the Marvel Universe, and one of the other big books we've been really stoked on here at Third Eye has been Mighty Avengers. Cult-favorite writer Dan Slott (known for his quirky dialouge, and traditional meets new school storytelling) has given us a great new diverse line-up of Avengers with Mighty Avengers that's chockfull of old school Marvel fun that meets witty new modern storytelling. Oh hell, any superteam consisting of Jocasta, the Hulk, and Hercules is good in our eyes...!  Now before we go on, let me say that we do still have plenty of Mighty Avengers #21 in stock which is the first chapter in the all-new direction, and all-new team of Mighty Avengers. So if you want to jump aboard, then now is the time. In this week's issue of  Mighty, you can expect to see the Mighty Avengers take on an enemy who was once one of their own... big surprises await! Click here to read a preview ofMIGHTY AVENGERS #22! THUNDERBOLTS: THE SLEEPER HIT OF DARK REIGN CONTINUES WITHTHUNDERBOLTS #129 - WHY YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!!!

Thunderbolts went from being a must-read back when Ellis was doing it, to a kind of low-priority book during Secret Invasion, and now it's back to a top of the stack must-read here at Third Eye! For those of you interested and jumping on, we've got plenty of Thunderbolts #128 in stock, and that's the perfect spot to hop aboard for the new direction and new team of this book. Why has Thunderbolts gotten to be so good?

Well, first off, the newly inaugerated President of the United States comes into office to find out that the keys to national defense have been handed over to a former homicidal maniac by the name of Norman Osborn. There's a lot of interesting interplay between the President and Norman Osborn, and serves as an interesting addition to the story. New series writer, Andy Diggle (creator of the soon-to-be-a-motion-picture The Losers), delivers some excellent dialouge, and some great action sequences (which is what he's made a name for himself doing). And of course, we love the eccentric team selection. The Irredeemable Ant-Man, the Black Widow II, and more... Thunderbolts is good stuff. And we can't wait to read this week's issue #129, as the appearance of a new Green Goblin has us in suspense. Clickhere to read more about THUNDERBOLTS #129!

WAR MACHINE #3 IT'S THE GOD OF WAR VS. THE WAR MACHINE!

We're big fans of War Machine here at Third Eye. I've already talked about how big of a Marvel vs. Capcom geek I am, and anyone who's played that knows War Machine is one of the most brutal characters in the game. And, as far as comic books go, he's a good character. I mean, basically, take everything that's cool about Iron Man, put a hardened soldier in the suit, add some shoulder cannons, and you get War Machine.

This is partly why we love the new War Machine series so much. The other part is because it's got one heck of a heavy-duty creative team. Greg Pak, the writer of Planet Hulk, and the highly underrated Leonard Manco (known back in the day for his wicked Werewolf by Night stuff) have been delivering issue after issue of widescale destruction.

Now, I can speculate on where the story is going after the second issue, but lets just say that it's better if we stay tight-lipped. Apparently issue #3 has some nice Dark Reign surprises.. and we don't want to ruin any of that. Click hereto read a preview of WAR MACHINE #3!

WOLVERINE ORIGINS #33 BEGINS NEW "WEAPON XI" STORYLINE WHERE NICK FURY EXPLORES THE "DARK WOLVERINE"!

Okay, we have to admit, when Daken was introduced originally.. we hated him. We hated his dumb haircut, his stupid tribal tattoos, and thought he looked like one of those
guys that's really into extreme frisbee and stickers of Calvin peeing on things. Now, in the post-Dark Avengers world... we like "Dark Wolverine." I don't know how, but Bendis has managed to turn him into an interesting character just by mixing him in with the Marvel universe, and throwing him in his dad's old suit. And this is why we're excited about Wolverine Origins #33.  A brand new story arc, Weapon XI, written by Daniel Way (the current writer of DEADPOOL), begins, and basically it's Nick Fury approaching Logan and offering to give him the lowdown on Romulus (who you might remember from Wolverine Evolution), if he gives him the lowdown on Daken. What we're guaranteed to get in this arc is an exploration of the darkest Marvel secrets that can only be part of Weapon X. Click hereto read a preview of WOLVERINE ORIGINS #33! AVENGERS INITIATIVE #22 & DARK REIGN FILES EXPLORE MORE ASPECTS OF DARK REIGN THIS WEEK!

And, while it's already a heavy week for Dark Reign titles, there's still a couple other ones hitting as well. Avengers Initiative #22 continues with the return of the original New Warriors. And then, for those of you who are big information junkies (I know I'm one), we've got the Dark Reign Fileshandbook hitting the shelves gives us Norman Osborn's case files on the Marvel Universe's supervillains, and the best ways he sees fit in utilizing them. A must read for fans of the bad guys, or people who just enjoy things like the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe!

RAGE OF THE RED LANTERNS CHAPTER 4 LEADS INTO THE "WAR OF LIGHT" IN THIS WEEK'SGREEN LANTERN #38! THE ROAD TO BLACKEST NIGHT BECOMES CLEAR!

The biggest DC event of the 21st Century is nearing it's beginning. Yes we're talking about BLACKEST NIGHT! This story has been building for the last two years! The recommended (but not required, you can jump on with Final Crisis Rage of the Red Lanterns, if you like) reading for Blackest Night?
Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps Volume 1
Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps Volume 2
Green Lantern: Tales Of The Sinestro Corps
Now, why are we so stoked? Well, Geoff Johns is probably the best thing to happen to DC Comics in 20 years. The man can do no wrong when it comes to writing a good DC Comic, and his Green Lantern run has slowly turned into the standard that we hold everything else up against. He wowed us with the Sinestro Corps War, and now with RAGE OF THE RED LANTERNS, he's laying down a nice solid road to BLACKEST NIGHT. And this week, in the pages of GREEN LANTERN #38, he leads us right into the WAR OF LIGHT. So, click here to read more about GREEN LANTERN #38, and then check out below to see our RAGE OF THE RED LANTERNS CHECKLIST!

GARTH ENNIS'S BATTLEFIELDS: DEAR BILLY #2 OUT THIS WEDNESDAY

Garth Ennis is one of the best modern comic writers working today. This is fact. It's undisputed. The man is extremely talented. And, if there's one thing that Mr. Ennis really puts his heart into, it's war stories. He LOVES war stories, and it shines through in his writing. Well, thank goodness, the folks at Dynamite were keen enough to realize this. Now, under his Battlefields banner, Ennis is going to be giving us short miniseries set during different periods of war that help give us an insight into the female perspective of war. The first one, BATTLEFIELDS: NIGHT WITCHES, which we have available now in trade paperback showcased a group of female Russian fighter pilots drafted into the war when the Russians were short on manpower. Forced to fly rickety World War I planes over enemy lines, this gritty depiction of women turned into hardened killers was fantastic.
Now, he's currently working on BATTLEFIELDS: DEAR BILLY, which focuses on a nurse who narrowly survived a Japanese firing squad, and the torture that came with it, and an injured pilot named Billy Wedgewood. The story gets interesting when a Japanese soldier is put under her care, and an opportunity for revenge is given.... and that leads us into this week's new issue. Give it a shot, click hereto check out a preview of BATTLEFIELDS: DEAR BILLY #1 to get a feel of what to expect in
 DEAR BILLY #2!

HULK #10: NEW STORY ARC! ED MCGUINESS RETURNS! THE OFFENDERS VS. THE DEFENDERS!!

Ladies and gentlemen, Ed McGuiness has returned! While Frank Cho and Art Adams are definitely some big-time, heavyweight artists in our eyes.. there's only one man that can do Hulk the justice that he deserves and that's Ed McGuiness. His colorful, over-the-top artwork makes every page of Hulk exciting. And with this issue, Hulk #10, McGuiness makes his return to kick off a brand new Hulk story arc!
It's the Offenders vs. The Defenders, Third Eye faithful! Namor! Silver Surfer! Doctor Strange, and Hulk! go head to head with RULK (Red Hulk), TIGER SHARK! TERRAX! and BARON MORDO! it's as ridiculous as it sounds, and we CANNOT wait. Plus, it's ED FREAKIN' MCGUINESS!
We know that Jeph Loeb's not the deepest writer, but you know what? Sometimes you want to see big monsters smashing big monsters, and looking really cool doing it. Plus, it's the Offenders! Consider us stoked! Click here to read more about HULK #10!

INCREDIBLE HERCULES #126 - PERFECT JUMPING ON POINT FOR NEW READERS! FIND OUT WHY THIS TITLE IS ONE OF MARVEL'S BEST ONGOINGS!

Greg Pak, writer of Planet Hulk, alongside Fred Van Lente (X-Men Noir) has managed to do what we thought was impossible. He's made a monthly Hercules comic exciting. We never really got into Hercules back in the day, but we were blind. We never knew so much potential in this drunken goofball existed.
This new issue is a special double-sized issue that not only tells, for the first time ever in Marvel continuity, the origin of Hercules, but also gives new readers a perfect spot to jump on and follow the upcoming story arcs taking place in this series. Trust us on this one, folks, we know it's a stretch, but Hercules is one of Marvel's most highly underrated books. If you want something a little quirky, and a whole lot fun... well-written, good storytelling, and more.. then this is it! Click here to read a preview of INCREDIBLE HERCULES #126!

WATCHMEN SERIES 2 ACTION FIGURES IN STOCK @ THIRD EYE THIS WEDNESDAY!
comedian

The first series of WATCHMEN figures were a HUGE success, and we expect series 2 to be just as popular. In this series, you can expect to see the Comedian, classic Nite Owl, classic Silk Spectre, and Doctor Manhattan!

NO HERO #4 CONTINUES WARREN ELLIS AND JUAN JOSE RYP'S ULTRA-VIOLENT SUPERHERO EPIC CONTINUES!
Warren Ellis is a name you can trust when it comes to getting a well-written comic, and with the Geoff Darrow-esque artwork of Jose Juan Ryp, you know you're getting some quality stuff. No Hero is basically the story of What Would You Do To Be Superhuman? Superpowers are a drug, and like any drug, they take their toll. Ellis explores a lot of interesting ideas about society, technology, superpowers, and how all of the above interconnect in the modern world. We're extremly stoked to let everyone know that the fourth issue will be arriving this week.

STAR TREK COUNTDOWN #2 CONTINUES THE LEAD-IN TO THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED NEW STAR TREK FILM!

It's been a while since we've been excited about Star Trek comics, but we officially are again now. IDW's Star Trek Countdown is the official lead up to the new Star Trek film from JJ Abrams. The comic looks to be tying the Original Series into the Next Generation into Deep Space Nine? How awesome is that?

JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #24- BLACK ADAM AND ISIS CHAPTER 2 HITS THE RACKS THIS WEEK!

Black Adam is a fan-favorite, for sure. The character is just awesome, and we've all been awaiting a new storyline to utilize him. Well, last month, the eagerly awaited Black Adam and Isis storyline began. Penned by Geoff Johns (and it's actually his last story arc on JSA, which is pretty monumental in and of itself), this is the Black Adam story to end all Black Adam stories.
We're excited to see what's to come in this week's newest chapter, and you can read more about it by clicking here.
