KICK-ASS #6 .. FINALLY, IT HAS ARRIVED! MARK MILLAR (writer of OLD MAN LOGAN) and JOHN ROMITA JR (the legend!) RETURN THIS WEEK!

It's no secret, folks. We are absolutely crazy about Mark Millar and John Romita JR's amazing KICK-ASS series. This is seriously some of the most fun we are having with comics, and I can't begin to tell you how stoked I was to see this one on our invoice for the week. After the introductiton of the Red Mist in the last issue, and the extremely entertaining dynamic between KICK-ASS and Red mist, we can't wait to see where KICK-ASS #6 is going to take us. Lets face it, it doesn't matter what I have to say about this one, cause if you're already reading KICK-ASS then you KNOW how good the series is, and you probably stopped reading this as soon as you saw the headline here. All we can tell you about this week's issue? The origins of Big Daddy and Hit Girl are revealed!
Now, for those of you who haven't given KICK-ASS a shot yet... let me give you the rundown on why this series is a gigantic Third Eye favorite. Firs off, it's MARK MILLAR, the man who has given us everything from WANTED and the red-hot WOLVERINE: OLD MAN LOGAN to classics like THE ULTIMATES and SUPERMAN RED SON. Secondly, it's JOHN ROMITA JR. Really, what hasn't he done that hasn't kicked ass? I mean, even Grey Area was pretty cool. Third, it is one of the coolest damn concepts we've seen in a funnybook in a very long time. Basically, Dave Lizewski, is a somewhat nerdy high school kid who loves comics. He gets it in his head to buy a wet suit on eBay, and go out and fight crime. He is completely beaten to a pulp when he tries to do so. But, that doesn't stop him... he goes back out for more, and he actually manages to succeed... infront of a crowd of people who're video-taping the entire thing. Now, here's where it gets interesting... the video gets uploaded to YOUTUBE, and he becomes an instant viral internet sensation. And, that's only the first three issues! We haven't even touched on the introductions of Hit Girl, Big Daddy, and The Red Mist.
Superheroes driving around, partying, and listening to Danny Elfman? Amazing. A nine year old hacking people's heads off with katana swords? Amazing. Kick-Ass? Amazing. We still have plenty of issues 1-5 in stock here at Third Eye, and you can snag up issue #6 this Wednesday!
DETECTIVE COMICS #853 - NEIL GAIMAN'S WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE CAPED CRUSADER PART 2 HITS THE RACKS!

Neil Gaiman. Creator of Sandman, American Gods, 1602, and a billion other great comic book and non-comic book literary works. When you take a man of this caliber and put him on one of the most iconic, and classic superheroes of all-time, you know you're going to get magic. What's the scoop? Basically, in the same vein of what Alan Moore's WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE MAN OF TOMORROW? did for Superman, that's what WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE CAPED CRUSADER is doing for Batman. This is definitely a big storyline, and is going to go down in the history books as one of those monumental comic book stories that people will be putting in their Top 10 lists for years to come. It's right up there with the Killing Joke, Dark Knight Returns, Year One, and more. In other words, you do not want to miss out on this. And, for those of you who've already read the first part, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. There are great comics, and there are historic comics, and right now, it feels pretty awesome to be a part of comic history and reading this one as it unfolds.
After a long wait, the conclusion has finally arrived, and we couldn't be more stoked on seeing how the story plays out. Gaiman is basically closing the current chapter in the character of Batman, and leaving things wrapped up nicely for the next life cycle of the character. Anyways, I don't need to keep on rambling about this, because you guys already know how epic of a story this is. So, make sure you snag up the second half this Wednesday here at Third Eye! The ending to this one is gonna be a shocker!
BATTLE FOR THE COWL: BIG STUFF THIS WEEK! ARKHAM ONE-SHOT , AND AZRAEL DEATH'S DARK KNIGHT #2!

While we're on the subject of our favorite pointy-eared Gotham guardian, lets talk about the Battle for the Cowl goodness that'll be hitting the shop this week. First off, we have the sure to be awesome BATTLE FOR THE COWL ARKHAM one-shot. Lets face it, one of the coolest aspects of Batman are his rogues, and the sinister surroundings in which he operates. A huge part of this is the Arkham Asylum, where all of his insane rogues have been housed. What happens when Batman's gone, and Arkham is torn asunder? How will Dr. Jeremiah Arkham cope with the madness in his institute? We cannot wait to find out just what role Arkham plays in the exciting saga of Battle for the Cowl.
Secondly, the next installment of Azrael: Death's Dark Knight will be hitting the shops. And, as we learned in the first issue of this one, this isn't the Azrael you know and remember.
X-FORCE #14 MESSIAH WAR CHAPTER 3 CONTINUES THE MOST EXCITING X-STORYLINE SINCE MESSIAH COMPLEX!

We're telling you, X-FORCE, is one of the, if not the, BEST X-books coming out right now. It takes everything you loved in the X-Titles from 10-15 years ago, and puts a great new modern spin on it, that really makes things cool, while losing any of the lameness at the same time. And, I have been so impressed with Messiah War, that it's great to see the third installment coming so soon. Cable's on the run with the baby, Bishop has enlisted the aide of STRYFE, and all hell is about to break lose! Cyclops is still trying to keep the involvement of X-Force hush-hush, but tensions are running high, and the wrath of Stryfe is near. Click here to check out a preview of X-FORCE #14!
DARK REIGN FORECAST: NEW AVENGERS #52: THE MYSTERY OF THE HOOD?MIGHTY AVENGERS #24 featuring the Young Avengers! SKRULL KILL KREW RETURN IN SKRULL KILL KREW #1 WOLVERINE ORIGINS #35 *WEAPON XI PT 3* & MUCH MORE!

It's a fantastic week for Dark Reign, folks! Of course, it's always a big deal when we get a new issue of NEW AVENGERS, which is still consistently one of the best top tier Marvel books hitting the shelves. Not to mention, we're getting some high caliber reads with the newest MIGHTY AVENGERS and INCREDIBLE HERCULES. And of course, we get some fresh blood in the pages of SKRULL KILL KREW and DARK REIGN ELEKTRA. So, read on, and see what we've got in store for you this week.
First off, NEW AVENGERS #52 continues the current WHO IS THE NEW SORCERER SUPREME saga that's been unfolding in the pages of NEW AVENGERS. The Hood, who is one of our favorite newer villains to come into the Marvel universe in the last few years, is out for the mantle of the Sorcerer Supreme. He wants the Eye of Agamatto, and the demon Dormammu that's attached itself to him is guiding his every move. We love this Marvel magic take on the classic Man making deals with the Devil tale. And, the fact that Marvel is breathing fresh air into their mystical characters is definitely very cool. All we know is from the preview pages, it looks like the Hood is becoming a bigger and bigger player in the Marvel U, and we love it.
Next up, we've got MIGHTY AVENGERS #24 , which has Quicksilver (man, has he been through some ups and downs, or what?) looking for answers, and of course, the machinations of Norman Osborn begin to come into play on how they affect the Mighty Avengers. And best of all, we get a Young Avengers guest-appearance.. (if you haven't read the original 12 issue run of YOUNG AVENGERS, please check it out, it's EXTREMELY good stuff).
Finally, we get Herc throwing down with the Olympus Group (giving the Greek gods a Dark Reign twist) in the pages of INCREDIBLE HERCULES #128 . We'll also be seeing the debut of the brand new SKRULL KILL KREW limited series, which brings the old school team originally created by Grant Morrison and Mark Millar back in 1994 into the 21st century. A ragtag group of individuals who ate the hamburger meat from the cows that the Skrulls were turned into by the Fantastic Four way back when, and now have crazy Skrully powers! Their mission? To kill every friggin skrull they can find! Also, hitting the shelves is the second installment ofDARK REIGN ELEKTRA #2 , and I gotta say folks, I WAS EXTREMELY IMPRESSED WITH THE FIRST ISSUE! I really was blown away with how well they pulled this one off. I went into it expecting very little, and it was a great read. It's great to see Elektra returning as a ruthless, cold-blooded killer. Finally, we've got the third chapter of WEAPON XI unfolding in the pages of WOLVERINE ORIGINS #35 which is exploring the shadowy history of DAKEN, and his father, WOLVERINE. We're sure that some of what happens here will play an important role in this summer's upcoming DARK WOLVERINE series. And last but not least, isAVENGERS INITIATIVE #23 , which can only be called THE INITIATIVE: DISASSEMBLED!
THOR #601 - JUMP ABOARD ONE OF MARVEL'S MOST EXCITING BOOKS AS A NEW CHAPTER IN THE LIFE OF THOR BEGINS!

One of the most consistently high quality Marvel ongoing series right now has been J.M Straczynski's THOR run. He has taken Thor, and all of the larger than life Asgardian awesomeness, and meshed flawlessly with the rest of the Marvel universe. Trust us, it's hard to make a GOD interesting issue after issue, but JMS has done it. After 13 issues of resurrecting the Asgardians in the flesh of normal people, rebuilding Asgard as a floating land above a small patch of land in the Mid-West, and putting the sinister Loki center-stage, we are officially hooked. Now is your chance to scoop up Thor #601, and jump onboard for this epic series, as this is an excellent point to hop on. And, don't worry, we still have plenty of THOR #600 in stock, which is the big landmark issue that preludes into a lot of what will be happening in this new direction for the series.
What can you expect? Well, lets just say that we learned in the last issue that Loki is convincing the Asgardians it'd be a great idea to move Asgard to Latveria, you know, Dr. Doom's homeland. Yeah, we know, that's definitely not good news for Thor! Click here for a preview of THOR #601!
IGNITION CITY #2 "Where Did The Space Heroes Go To Die?" HITS THIS WEEK FAST ON THE HEELS OF IGNITION CITY #1! WARREN ELLIS'S DEADWOOD MEETS SPACE OPERA EPIC CONTINUES!

Ellis is off to a great start with his new IGNITION CITY series. The first issue's beautifully ugly rendition of an alternate future where space rockets rot in parking lots, rayguns settle arguments with flesh-burning zaps, and everyone is disenfranchised with the World of Tomorrow has gotten us hooked. I can already tell from reading the first issue, and seeing the broken down former space heroes (imagine Flash Gordon if he became a drunk, or Buck Rogers if he was a jaded old man) has already given me a good sense of where Ellis plans to take his whole concept of Where Did The Space Heroes Go To Die? Click here to read a quick review ofIGNITION CITY #1 , and if you missed it, fear not, we have plenty in stock here at Third Eye for ya. Otherwise, we'll be waiting for the second installment to hit the racks this Wednesday!
DAREDEVIL #118 RETURN OF THE KING PT 3 out this week from INCOGNITO creator ED BRUBAKER!

Ed Brubaker delivers awesomeness on just about everything he touches. Captain America, Criminal, Iron Fist, Incognito. The man is just a damn fine writer, and we love his stuff. His run on Daredevil has been outstanding stuff. Lady Bullseye was where it really began to shine for us, and now that we're about two deep into his RETURN OF THE KING Kingpin epic, we're completely hooked. I mean, come on, Kingpin is the yin to Daredevil's yang. So, as you can tell, we're pretty pumped to let you guys know that the third installment of Brubaker's crime epic, RETURN OF THE KING, will be hitting the Third Eye racks this Wednesday! Click herefor a preview of DAREDEVIL #118 RETURN OF THE KING PT 3!
BUCK ROGERS #0 - ONLY 25 CENTS - DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT BRINGS NEW LIFE TO THIS CLASSIC HERO WITH THE FIRST ISSUE BEING ONLY .25 CENTS THIS WEEK AT THIRD EYE!

It's been a long time since Buck Rogers was first introduced to science fiction fans, but the publisher behind creator-owned hits like THE BOYS and DEAD IRONS, as well as pulpy classics like LONE RANGER and RED SONJA are bringing new life to this character. And, best of all, you can get the first issue for only .25 cents. That's right! A Quarter! Now, how awesome is that? We're actually very excited to see how this one turns out, as Dynamite has a very solid track record of taking classic pulp and serial heroes and re-imagining them for the 21st century. I mean, in the first couple of issues of Lone Ranger, we see a guy's skin turned into curtains?! Who thought the Lone Ranger could be so cool? And, with Buck Rogers, a sci-fi classic that's just ripe for high-concept storytelling in this new age of technology and wonder, we know they've probably got something pretty awesome in store for us.
So, pick up your copy this week, I mean, it's only a quarter, so what'd you got to lose? This one kicks off with a story titled The Death of Buck Rogers. Click here for a preview of BUCK ROGERS #0!
HULK #11 CONTINUES THE OFFENDERS VS. DEFENDERS WAR THIS WEEK!

Okay, so we still don't know who the Red Hulk is, but, we gotta say, with Ed McGuiness back on art duties for this title ,we are so hooked it's not even funny. While it was slow to grow on us at first, Jeph Loeb's Hulk series has actually really turned into a fun book for us here at Third Eye. It's packed with that kind of old school smash'em up Jack Kirby energy that you really can't find many places these days. While there's plenty of deep, compelling stories that we love to dive head first into, it's nice to get a strong dose of good old fashioned comic book beat-em up action. And, hey, it doesn't hurt that Ed McGuiness's gorgeous, bigger than life artwork rocks each and every page of this series!
Best of all, the most over the top storyline ever is taking place in the pages of Hulk, with the OFFENDERS/DEFENDERS WAR. It's Hulk, Namor, Doctor Strange and Silver Surfer against Red Hulk, Tiger Shark, Baron Mordo, and Terrax. Pure comic awesomeness.
THIRD EYE TRADE PAPERBACK SPOTLIGHT! GREAT WEEK FOR NEW TPBs

BPRD v.10 THE WARNING TP - The next installment of the amazing Dark Horse BPRD stuff. Fans of Hellboy should be giving this one a look, as it's every bit as good as Mignolia's Hellboy stuff.
FREAKANGELS TP v.2 - The second book of WARREN ELLIS's steampunk serial epic. Beautiful stuff.
GAMBIT CLASSIC TP - An essential collection of everyone's favorite ragin' cajun. I'm not even a big Gambit fan, but it's pretty cool to see this collection of his most essential stories.
HACK/SLASH OMNIBUS v.2 TP - The next of the big slabs of awesomeness that are the Hack/Slash omnibus. A must for fans of '80s slasher flicks, and of course, good comics.
NOVA v.4 TP NOVA CORPS - We can't stress enough how good of a book the new Nova series is... jump aboard, if you haven't already.

SPIDER-MAN 2099 TP - I think we've all got a soft spot for 2099, and these big beautiful trade paperback collections of the old series are made of win.
DC LIBRARY BATMAN THE ANNUALS - Classic Silver Age Batman at it's finest. This beautiful hardcover reprints some of the most classic Batman tales of the '60s, exploring the secrets of the Bat-cave, Bat-Signal and more with that old school silver age magic.
THE QUESTION v.4 WELCOME TO OZ - If the Question is not one of the coolest comic book characters of all time, then I don't know who is.. it's great to see these classic stories reprinted!
