In order to set himself up with a cushy job post-graduation, Heller Wilson takes on a subject for his PhD thesis at the behest of his advisor.
This leads him to meet with Dr. Spencer Brownfield, a disgraced Columbia professor who spent his career researching Complex Theory, the idea that one can use mathematics to predict the large-scale outcomes caused by minute changes in environment.
At first, Dr. Brownfield seems crazy, but Heller soon discovers that the doctor's research might be the only thing keeping New York City from destroying itself from the inside out.
Both in terms of storytelling and artwork, this book is pure quality comics all over the place. A great, compelling plot with gorgeous art that compliments the storytelling perfectly; combined with the incredible design and layout of the book by Archaia, who've wowed us with their MOUSE GUARD series, among others.
We highly recommend snagging Strange Attractors this Wednesday, and giving it a shot. It's a big, pretty hardcover with a powerful story inside.. and it's only $19.99.

One of our favorite comics of all-time gets the presentation it deserves with this Wednesday's upcoming deluxe graphic novel reissues of THE AUTHORITY.
Pretty much all of modern superhero comics owes a huge debt to the AUTHORITY, which debuted around 1999 or so, and completely changed the way that everyone viewed storytelling in modern superhero comics.
Taking a team of heroes with godlike powers, but very human strengths and weaknesses, and having them declare themselves the official police force of the Planet Earth, whether Earth liked it or not, the AUTHORITY didn't just change things with it's edgy, adult themes being explored in the confines of a very JUSTICE LEAGUE-like set-up, but in terms of it's artwork and storytelling as well.
Writer Warren Ellis (Transmetropolitan, Planetary, and tons of other incredible reads) and Bryan Hitch (THE ULTIMATES) kick things off with widescreen-style storytelling that's still captivating to this day. When superheroes punched people; those people exploded. When the bad guys decided to lay siege to the Earth; cities crumbled, and millions of people died.
Following the Ellis / Hitch arc, we've got Mark Millar and Frank Quitely, the team behind the recent Jupiter's Legacy, as well as the creators of tons of other great reads (ranging from KICK-ASS to WE 3 to THE ULTIMATES and more), showing us a squad of government-paid superheroes created by an evil mad genius who could've very well been a comic book artist in another life.

Folks, I can't help it, whenever there's something new from Richard Corbin; I've gotta heap praise upon the man. He's one of my favorite comic book artists, and when it comes to horror comics, there's still very few folks out there who can bring the unique look, texture and tone to comics that he can.
Seriously, Corben's work is the definition of creepy, and you always recognize it right off the bat.
In THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER, Corben brings the classic to life in the way only he can.
A sickness resides in the house of Usher. Its history is cursed, its tenants plagued by abominable love, and it's hallways lined with coffins and the rotted dead.
Things are about to get worst in this nightmarish classic brought to life by Richard Corben.
