This Week's Highlights at Third Eye Comics for Wednesday 5/16/12

AVENGERS VS X-MEN #4- THE AVENGERS AWAY TEAM GOES HEAD TO HEAD WITH THE PHOENIX!
Folks, when we say AvX has been living up to the hype, we mean it. This book is unstoppable, and each and every issue has been a rock-em sock-em ass-kicker of a read, with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
As the Avengers and the X-Men square off across the globe, literally, from the Savage Land to Tabula Rasa, and beyond, the AVENGERS away team is heading straight into space with Thor leading the way… and, guess what they’re coming face to face with in this week’s AvX #4?
You got it, folks, THE PHOENIX.
Will we see heroes fall? Will the X-Men embrace the arrival of this harbinger of doom, or come to their senses?
And, just what is the suicide mission that Hope is trying to task Wolverine with?
If you looked up the definition of GREAT COMICS in the dictionary, you’d see the cover to AvX next to it, ’cause this book has captured everything we love about the Marvel Universe, and made it work in a big way.
Action-packed, with no signs of slowing down, and a focus being brought to the characters that we actually care about and are interested in, Avengers vs X-Men is the best Marvel event since CIVIL WAR, or heck, we might even be enjoying this more than CIVIL WAR.
Wanna get caught up? We’ve got issues #0-3 in stock now to catch you up to this Wednesday’s AvX #4, and we’ve also got ALL of the AvX tie-ins in stock and available to catch you up on the supplementary parts of the story.

AVENGERS VS X-MEN VERSUS #2 DROPS THIS WEDNESDAY AS WELL, FILLING IN THE GAPS BETWEEN AVENGERS VS X-MEN #3  & AVENGERS VS X-MEN #4
AVENGERS VS X-MEN rages on this week, and alongside it, comes the absolute most crucial tie-in to the whole story, AVENGERS VS X-MEN: VERSUS.
This amazing 6-issue limited series is giving us what we’ve wanted out of a big event like AvX all along: an entire book devoted to the fights!
Each issue takes place in between the core issues of AVENGERS VS X-MEN, with VERSUS #1 coming in between issues 2 & 3, and fleshing out the fights between MAGNETO and IRON MAN, THING and NAMOR, and more. This week’s AvX VERSUS #2 comes between issues #3 and #4, and further expands on the showdowns between Colossus Juggernaut and Spider-Man, Gambit and Captain America, and more.
And, yes, folks, WINNERS ARE DECLARED!
The creative teams involved in this one are top notch, quality, with Steve McNiven, the artist of OLD MAN LOGAN, CIVIL WAR, and NEMESIS, helming this week’s VERSUS, so you know you’re in for a treat.
And, lets be real, folks, when you’ve got a story as big as AVENGERS VS X-MEN, you damn well that you want to see a ton of time devoted to the actual fights and throw downs, right?
Even if you’re not hitting all the tie-ins, we highly recommend getting on board with AVENGERS VS X-MEN VERSUS, as it’s a fantastic supplement to the line.
Wanna catch up? We’ve got AVENGERS VS X-MEN VERSUS #1 in stock now to catch you up to #2.

SAGA #3 CONTINUES ONE OF THE TOP 5 BEST NEW SERIES THIS YEAR THIS WEDNESDAY! PURE EPIC SCI-FI FANTASY ACTION WITH A MODERN TWIST!
IMAGINE GAME OF THRONES meets FIREFLY / SERENITY
SAGA, without a doubt, is one of the best new series to launch in 2012. In just two issues, this book has cemented itself as a MAJOR hit, amongst fans from all walks of life. We haven’t seen such a crossover hit like this in a long time, and folks, it’s with good reason: SAGA is fantastic.
This is pure and simple comic book goodness. When you think about those series that people find themselves going back to again and again, the kind that are on best of lists for years to come, SAGA is one of those in the making. This is the kind of comic that’s not just a comic you’re reading, but an actual piece of history. It’s the kind of thing people will be talking about for years.
OK, enough fanboy gushing here, SAGA is an ongoing series from IMAGE that’s a unique blend of the kind of gritty, realistic sword-and-sorcery action of GAME OF THRONES, and the sharp-witted, swashbuckling sci-fi of JOSS WHEDON’s SERENITY / FIREFLY series.
Written by Brian K. Vaughan, of Y THE LAST MAN and EX MACHINA fame, SAGA hits all the beats that Vaughan has in his past series, with strong characters, exciting pacing and plotting, and cliffhangers that leave you on the edge of your seat as you wait for the following issue.
With issue #1 already going to a fourth printing, and #2 going through to a 2nd or 3rd printing, I believe, this book is one of the hottest new releases of the Summer.
What’s the plot behind it? Two people, two planets, not supposed to be together, but they are, and they’ve had a kid.. and, they’ll do ANYTHING in their power to keep that kid safe, even if it means fighting the combined forces of their two warring planets.
Bounty hunters, political intrigue, star fighters, wizards… how can you not love this book?
Toss in the amazing artwork of FIONA STAPLES, who just drops our jaw every time we crack this book open, and you’ve got yourself one hell of a comic.
Wanna get caught up on this one? We’ve got issues 1 & 2 of SAGA in stock now to catch you up to this week’s #3.

JIM LEE RETURNS TO JUSTICE LEAGUE THIS WEDNESDAY, AS THE DC NEW 52′S FLAGSHIP TITLE CONTINUES TO IMPRESS AND THE STORYLINE: VILLAIN’S JOURNEY BEGINS IN THIS WEEK’S JUSTICE LEAGUE #9
JUSTICE LEAGUE continues to be one of the most kick-ass DC NEW 52 books on the stands, with GEOFF JOHNS and JIM LEE leading a steady charge of awesomeness all the way through.
As the flagship title of the DC NEW 52, JUSTICE LEAGUE is the title that is pretty much laying the groundwork of the DC NEW 52, tweaking the minor details we know, and filling in the gaps that we don’t. We’re totally impressed with how much we’re enjoying this one, and 9 issues in: this book still has it.
This Wednesday, superstar comics legend JIM LEE returns to JUSTICE LEAGUE (he was off during issues 7 & 8, but was the artist on issues 1-6), and totally rocks our socks.
Johns and Lee kick off a HUGE story arc, with ‘THE VILLAINS JOURNEY’ this Wednesday, as an all-new major nemesis for the Justice League is introduced.
This issue marks a great jumping on point for new readers, and folks.. looking at the cover, could we be seeing some Starro awesomeness? :)
Also, the third chapter of the SHAZAM NEW 52 origin continues, and I gotta tell you: I’m loving the NEW 52 take on SHAZAM.
Wanna get caught up? We’ve got issues 1-8 of JUSTICE LEAGUE in stock now to catch you up to this week’s #9.

DANCER #1 FROM IMAGE COMICS DEBUTS THIS WEDNESDAY FROM THE WRITER OF “WHO IS JAKE ELLIS?” AND THE ARTIST OF “VIKING”.
DIG MOVIES LIKE “TAKEN” or “LEON THE PROFESSIONAL”?
READ THIS!
We were huge fans of the stylish, noir espionage of WHO IS JAKE ELLIS, and we loved the dramatic artwork of Nic Klein on VIKING, so when we saw that writer Nate Edmondson (WHO IS JAKE ELLIS?, THE ACTIVITY) and artist NIC KLEIN (VIKING) were pairing up to do an incredible new thriller from IMAGE COMICS, we could not help but get stoked.
In DANCER, retired assassin Alan fisher and his ballerina companion must escape a ruthless sniper who stalks them through the streets of Milan. To survive and protect the love of his life, Alan will unravel the tapestry of the past he’s kept hidden for years, and discover the killer’s impossible identity.
A brilliant mash-up of stuff like TAKEN, THE PROFESSIONAL, and other modern spy / noir thrillers, DANCER is a fantastic 21st century spin on the classic spy thriller, and we loved every second of it.
Give it a shot this Wednesday at Third Eye!

GARTH ENNIS, writer of THE BOYS, CROSSED, PREACHER, AND PUNISHER MAX brings us the most hardcore spin on NICK FURY yet with the new FURY MAX series in this Wednesday’s FURY MAX #2.
Garth Ennis was BORN to write NICK FURY. Seriously, his take on the old war horse in PUNISHER MAX was a tease, and then his limited FURY series for MAX back in the day, just got us even more stoked.
Now, he’s back with what’s one of the highlights of 2012 for us: FURY MAX. A new ongoing series which puts Nick Fury into the MAX line-up, which means that this book is most definitely a NC-17 kinda read. Uber-violent, and gratuitous to the MAX… get it? :)
Seriously though, FURY MAX picks up in the wake of WORLD WAR II, with Marvel’s hardest soldier finding himself without a battle to fight, until the very first glimpses of the Cold War begin to form.
Now, Fury is tasked with being the ultimate in CIA hardcore commando badasses, and folks, this book takes no prisoners.
Highly recommended, if you’ve dug Ennis’s work on PUNISHER MAX, PREACHER, or THE BOYS, we think you’ll love this one.
Need issue #1 to catch you up? We’ve got plenty in stock to get you on board.

HARDCORE #1 ONE-SHOT from ROBERT KIRKMAN, BRIAN STELFREEZE & MARC SILVESTRI DROPS THIS WEDNESDAY, and IT IS AWESOME!
Do not miss this overlooked gem from the writer of WALKING DEAD, THIEF OF THIEVES & INVINCIBLE
Duuuuuude, this one is AWESOME. A stellar one-shot pilot issue of a new idea from ROBERT KIRKMAN, and MARC SILVESTRI (one of the legendary co-founders of IMAGE, as well as the creator of THE DARKNESS and more), this one is guaranteed to go under the radar for many, but fear not, Third Eye Faithful: we’ve got plenty in stock this Wednesday to hook you up.
What’s the scoop behind this one? Here’s the skinny: Once the hard core is shot into the back of your neck, an assassin’s brain waves can be transmitted into your body — circumventing your brain functions — taking complete control of your body.
When assassins use this technology — your killer can be anyone; your barber, your neighbor, or your wife. They are the best assassins in the world — but what happens when one of their own turns against them? Who can you trust when your enemy can change his appearance as easy as someone changes a shirt?
What happens when your killer could be your son, your daughter, your mother, or your father?
A stellar, uber-violent piece of sci-fi action movie goodness, ROBERT KIRKMAN delivers big on this one… and folks, just like we said with THIEF OF THIEVES, this one has major potential behind it. Do not sleep on HARDCORE this Wednesday at Third Eye!

THE NIGHT OF OWLS CONTINUES THIS WEEK IN CATWOMAN #9, BIRDS OF PREY #9, NIGHTWING #9 and RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #9.. DO NOT MISS OUT ON THE BEST DC CROSSOVER SINCE BLACKEST NIGHT!
We are so into the whole NIGHT OF THE OWLS thing that’s rocking through the pages of the Bat-books this Summer, and folks, every single issue has delivered BIG-TIME.
This crossover has the same kind of energy and potential that THE SINESTRO CORPS WAR first showed, which led into something VERY big with BLACKEST NIGHT.
Now, as the excitement builds, and NIGHT OF OWLS mastermind SCOTT SNYDER continues to build this into a huge thing, we’re finding ourselves more and more stoked about this one.
So far, all of the tie-ins have been crucially relevant to the bigger story, and have all delivered quality reads that are on the same level of awesomeness as the flagship BATMAN title.
What is the scoop on COURT OF OWLS / NIGHT OF THE OWLS? In the COURT OF OWLS arc in BATMAN 1-7 (available in single issues, all in stock now, or in hardcover, also in stock now), we learned of a secret society that’s been rotting Gotham from the inside out since it’s founding.
Now, after having their champion, the Talon, defeated by Batman, they’ve flipped their lids, and are unleashing hordes of Talon operatives on Gotham City, taking it apart piece by piece, and showing Batman who truly runs the city.
This week, we’ve got CATWOMAN #9, which shows us how Miss Selina Kyle is forced to defend the Penguin against the Court of Owls… which, if you know their history, means something big must be going down.

Meanwhile, in BIRDS OF PREY #9, NIGHT OF THE OWLS continues to rage on, with Black Canary, Batgirl, Katana, and Poison Ivy risking their lives in Gotham to battle The Talon and the Court of Owls… and a shocking revelation comes to surface about Black Canary’s husband, Kurt Lance.
Mr. Freeze gets the spotlight in this week’s batch of NIGHT OF THE OWLS tie-ins, as we’ve got RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #9, which brings Jason Todd head to head with Mr. Freeze, as he reluctantly answers Batman’s call in the throw down against the Court of Owls.
And, then finishing off the NIGHT OF THE OWLS tie-ins this week, we’ve got one of the most crucial, with NIGHTWING #9. The NIGHTWING tie-ins have been some of the most vital, as the story has been brewing for quite some time in this one, and we’re loving every second of it.
Wanna get caught up on the NIGHT OF OWLS? We’ve got ALL of the issues of this event in stock and available now to catch you up to this week’s newest releases, as well as the BATMAN: COURT OF OWLS hardcover, for those of you who’ve been waiting to jump onto Snyder’s flagship BATMAN.

GARTH ENNIS’S THE SHADOW #2 HITS THIS WEDNESDAY, FOLLOWING UP THE STELLAR FIRST ISSUE OF THIS BLOODY REVIVAL OF THE COOLEST PULP HERO OF ALL TIME!
THE SHADOW is one of the most exciting revivals of a pulp character that we’ve seen in quite some time. For those of you who may not be in the know, characters like THE SHADOW, THE SPIDER, and more were directly instrumental in the creation of BATMAN, THE SPIRIT, and other masked vigilantes.
These characters were the stars of big, thick, cheaply produced novels that were kind of like the grand-daddies of modern comic books, and provided lurid, often violent takes on the worlds of organized crime and the supernatural.
Now, Garth Ennis, the writer of hits like PREACHER, PUNISHER MAX, THE BOYS, and more, is bringing the awesome with his new spin on THE SHADOW.
Lamont Cranston and Margo Lane fly west on Pan Am’s fabulous China Clipper in this week’s SHADOW #2 — but the golden age of air travel might just mean fiery death above the clouds for our heroes. In Shanghai, Major Tateo Kondo of Japanese military intelligence puts his own plans in motion, while his American counterparts struggle to catch up.
The Shadow delivers some two-fisted, guns blazing justice to aerial assassins and worse, in this blood-drenched second issue of the red hot new SHADOW ongoing series from Dynamite Entertainment.
Wanna jump on board? We’ve got copies of issue #1 in stock now to get you up to speed for this week’s THE SHADOW #2.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: ENDS OF THE EARTH #1 ONE-SHOT EXPANDS ON DAN SLOTT’S KICK-ASS ENDS OF THE EARTH STORY ARC THIS WEDNESDAY
Dan Slott’s entire run of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN has been downright AMAZING, and we find ourselves coming back again, and again for more awesomeness on this one, folks.
The story of a desperate, one-last-attack Doc Ock, trying to bring down the entire world, and the Sinister Six being thrown in there with him has brought us to the peak of Slott’s incredible run, and we cannot wait to see where he takes the book next. You can literally feel the passion and excitement Slott has for the world of Spidey and his cast with each page.
So, it’s no secret that we’re stoked for this Wednesday’s AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: ENDS OF THE EARTH one-shot, which fleshes out various aspects of the ENDS OF THE EARTH arc, and shows us how heroes across the globe are dealing with Octavius’s worldwide attack.
Killer stuff, snag yourself a copy this Wednesday at Third Eye!

URSA MINOR #1 DELIVERS A FRESH NEW SPIN ON THE WHOLE VAMPIRE VS. WEREWOLVES GENRE WITH A FUTURISTIC RIFF THAT DELIVERS BIG-TIME!
FROM THE CREATORS OF “LEGEND OF OZ”
It’s the year 2022, and werewolves are an endangered species. Vampires are mankind’s saviors, and one girl with a power she can barely control is determined to return the supernatural balance that nature had intended.
Ursa Minor delivers a pretty fresh new twist on the horror comic genre, with this fantastic meshing of fantasy and horror, with a bit of sci-fi.
In the year 2013, werewolves first show themselves, and how do they do it? They kill the president, and the world is thrown into a witch hunt to eradicate all werewolves, which leads to the Vampires revealing themselves to humanity as it’s protection.
In the meantime, other mythical creatures begin to come out of the woodwork, and from there, we’re taken into a fascinating future of 2022, where vampires are humanity’s saviors, and werewolves are all but extinct.
We were very impressed with this small publisher (Big Dog Ink) and their debut, LEGEND OF OZ: THE WICKED WEST, so when we saw they were putting out something new, we got pretty stoked.
Give it a shot this week at Third Eye, Third Eye Faithful!

GREEN LANTERN VOL.1: SINESTRO HARDCOVER FROM THE DC NEW 52 HITS THIS WEDNESDAY, DELIVERING THE FIRST 6 ISSUES OF THE DC NEW 52 “GREEN LANTERN” TITLE BY GEOFF JOHNS
GREEN LANTERN volume 1 arrives this Wednesday, featuring the first 6 issues of the DC NEW 52′s top shelf, blockbuster GREEN LANTERN title penned by JUSTICE LEAGUE / AQUAMAN writer GEOFF JOHNS.
For years now, GREEN LANTERN has been a consistently quality read, with GEOFF JOHNS behind the wheel, and the NEW 52 spin on the character is no exception.
We’ve loved the concept of SINESTRO being brought back into the Corps, and returning to work as a GREEN LANTERN, even if it’s reluctantly so.
In the aftermath of WAR OF THE GREEN LNANTERNS, Hal Jordan has been stripped of his ring. Left standing in his place is an unexpected new Green Lantern: SINESTRO!
And, now, the original renegade GL has set course to Korugar with one purpose: to free his home world from the very own SINESTRO CORPS he created, with the reluctant help of Hal Jordan (man, we’re using reluctant a lot here, aren’t we?)
Seriously, top notch stuff, as always, we’re stoked to see where this one goes next.

DANGER CLUB #2 DROPS THIS WEDNESDAY, DELIVERING THE SECOND ISSUE OF ONE OF OUR PERSONAL FAVORITE NEW IMAGE BOOKS!
Imagine WATCHMEN by way of YOUNG JUSTICE / TEEN TITANS!
A MUST FOR FANS OF THE CAPE, IRREDEEMABLE, AND BRAT PACK.

Meet creators LANDRY Q WALKER (WRITER) & ERIC JONES (artist) at THIRD EYE on SATURDAY 6/30
DANGER CLUB is one of the most exciting new releases of the year from IMAGE, and it’s one of my personal favorite new reads that’s hit the stands. The combination of Walker’s sharp storytelling, and strong characters, with Eric Jones’s kick-ass artwork makes for one hell of a fun read, and we cannot wait to get our hands on this week’s #2.
What’s DANGER CLUB about? Picture this: all of the world’s biggest superheroes venture out into space, we’re talking the Avengers, we’re talking the Justice League, the whole nine, right? And, they don’t return. Dead, or imprisoned, who knows?
What’s left behind though are the teen sidekicks and apprentices of these heroes. An entire planet left at the mercy of super-powered 17 year olds, without any guidance or mentorship, to steer them in the right direction.
Some will go bad, and some will go good, and some will find that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Folks, this book KICKS ASS. It’s sharp, it’s smart, it’s action-packed, and is one of the most exciting superhero books to launch in 2012, and that’s saying something with the great offerings coming through from Marvel and DC.
In this week’s issue #2, Yoshimi Onomoto returns to her homeland a fugitive as Danger Club leader Kid Vigilante and his arch-nemesis Ladybug confront their pasts in the Cave of Vengeance. Old wounds are opened again, and new mysteries arise as the world faces its imminent doom.
DANGER CLUB is red hot, with issue #1 already hitting a second printing, and the buzz building with this week’s #2, folks, we can’t recommend it enough.
PLUS: You can meet the creators of DANGER CLUB at our special DANGER CLUB #3 release party in JUNE, with writer LANDRY Q WALKER and artist ERIC JONES.

AVENGERS VS X-MEN: UNCANNY X-MEN #12 BRINGS THE BATTLE TO TABULA RASA IN A BIG WAY
With the risk of sounding like a broken record here, the tie-ins to AVENGERS VS X-MEN have been… AMAZING. Seriously, we have been so impressed with the amount of quality and care that’s gone into making each one of these books connect to the mainline story, and deliver a read that’s freakin’ off-the-chain.
This week’s UNCANNY X-MEN #12 takes the battle of the AVENGERS and the X-MEN to the global stage, and Tabula Rasa gets brought into the battlefield in a major way.

MARK MILLAR (writer of KICK-ASS, OLD MAN LOGAN, SUPERCROOKS, NEMESIS & more) and DAVE GIBBONS (artist and co-creator of WATCHMEN) deliver THE most violent, most darkly humorous, and most bad-ass spin on a James Bond-esque character you’ve ever read with this week’s SECRET SERVICE #2.
THE SECRET SERVICE is another of the most exciting new reads we’ve seen to launch this Spring, with Mark Millar, writer of past hits like KICK-ASS, NEMESIS, OLD MAN LOGAN, THE ULTIMATES, and more, delivering the raddest take on the super-spy genre we’ve ever read.
In SECRET SERVICE, we’ve already seen Mark Hamill crushed to death by a snowmobile… how do you top that? Well, we’re going to find out in this week’s issue #2.
Meet the world’s greatest secret agent, and his name’s not Bond, who finds himself on the most exciting case of his career. But will the end of the world as we know it take a back seat to training his street-punk nephew to be the next James Bond? The young man’s preparation now begins in earnest, saving him from a life of desperation.
Meanwhile, what’s the secret link between a series of kidnapped science fiction stars and the murder of an entire town in Middle America?
Folks, only Mark Millar could make this work, and boy, does he do a terrific job.
Highly recommended, if you wanna catch up, we’ve got plenty of #1 in stock now to catch you up to this week’s #2.

AVENGERS VS X-MEN: AVENGERS #26 - WHO WILL BETRAY THE TEAM TO FILL THEIR DESTINY WITH THE PHOENIX?
Another excellent AvX tie-in drops this week, featuring the legendary WALT SIMONSON on art chores, and the man who helped make the AVENGERS movie so awesome, BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS, on the script.
Like we said above, the AvX tie-ins have been top notch, all the way through, and we’re totally stoked on what’s going down in AVENGERS, as a game-changing moment will take place in this week’s AVENGERS #26.
The road to a new era of AVENGERS begins here, Third Eye Faithful, and the question is: who will betray their team-mates to fulfill their destiny with the Phoenix?

THE MANHATTAN PROJECTS #3  - JONATHAN HICKMAN and NICK PITARRA’S ALT-HISTORY SCI-FI EPIC DELIVERS MORE AND MORE AWESOMENESS WITH EACH AND EVERY INSTALLMENT!

Just like DANGER CLUB, and SAGA, MANHATTAN PROJECTS is another stellar new release from IMAGE this year that has us all kinds of hooked, and we cannot get enough of this one, Third Eye Faithful.
Jonathan Hickman, who’s kicked mucho ass on books like THE RED WING, NIGHTLY NEWS, PAX ROMANA, and more, is delivering some of his best work yet with this alt-history sci-fi thriller that keeps us guessing with each issue.
In the world of MANHATTAN PROJECTS, the atom bomb is the LEAST dangerous thing to be created under the Manhattan Project banner, and there’s all sorts of nasty things, like doorways to other dimensions, and the plundering of mythical artifacts like Poseidon’s trident, that make the MANHATTAN PROJECT much more frightening than we thought.
Using real deal historical reference, and figures, Hickman weaves an amazing story that we could only compare to something like PLANETARY in terms of the multiple layers, and angles that apply to it.
In MANHATTAN PROJECTS #3, the Death of FDR leaves the Manhattan Projects in chaos as questions of leadership arise. The world’s first Artificial Intelligence is created 40 years ahead of schedule. And whatever happened to the THIRD atomic bomb developed by Oppenheimer and his unparalleled Science Team?
One of the best damn series on the stands, if you’re not yet reading MANHATTAN PROJECTS, folks, please, get into this one.
Need to catch up? We’ve got copies of MANHATTAN PROJECTS 1 & 2 in stock now to get you up to speed on this week’s #3.

INCREDIBLE HULK #7.1 DELIVERS A GREAT JUMPING ON POINT FOR ONE OF THE MOST PROMISING NEW MARVEL ONGOINGS!
We have been totally stoked on Jason Aaron’s incredible run of INCREDIBLE HULK. He’s working the same kind of magic he’s done in WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN, as he brings new levels of excitement and intrigue to the world of Hulk and Banner.
This week, issue #7.1, is a perfect jumping on point for new readers to get on board one of our favorite Marvel books on the stands.
After the madness of Bruce and Hulk being split from one another, and finding themselves trying to eradicate the other, as Banner desperately tries to reclaim his gamma roots… we’re led to Red She-Hulk, who is none too happy about what’s gone down.

HELL YEAH #3 – ANOTHER IMAGE ALL-STAR HITS THIS WEDNESDAY, AND FOLKS, THIS MAY BE OUR FAVORITE ISSUE OF HELL YEAH YET!
Plus: Third Eye gets a shout out on the inside front cover!
Dude: we love HELL YEAH. And, not just because Joe and Andre are awesome dudes, and were super cool when we had them in for the signing back in April.
No, seriously, this comic is freakin’ GREAT. Set in a world where the first wave of superheroes debuted in 1992, in true, head-exploding, ’90s hero fashion, HELL YEAH is the story of the kids who grew up in the shadows of superhuman gods. Bitter with resentment, warped by a culture that has no use for anyone ordinary, and where ray guns, and dimension travel is the norm… this is WATCHMEN for the KICK-ASS generation, Third Eye Faithful, and it’s off-the-wall awesome.
In HELL YEAH #3, we’re introduced to Kurtzberg University, one of the most elite colleges for super-powered individuals, and now the victim of a massive, unexpected attack, which everyone believes is Ben Day’s fault.
When the super-powered community isn’t enough to find him, there’s only one man they call. All this, plus Ben begins to find out what exactly it means to be the “last Day on Earths.”
The book took a turn for the Kirby in issue #2, and this one is going into some crazy territory, and we’re loving every second of it.
You want comics that are pure fun and mayhem, all the way through?
Read HELL YEAH, you will love it.
Plus: there’s a shout-out to Third Eye on the inside cover, and well, we thought that was nifty. :)

AVENGERS VS X-MEN: AVENGERS ACADEMY #30 PITS THE ACADEMY KIDS AGAINST THE KIDS OF GENERATION HOPE
AVENGERS ACADEMY continues the AVENGERS VS X-MEN saga, tying into the GENERATION HOPE title, and pitting the AVENGERS ACADEMY kids head to head with the young mutants of GENERATION HOPE.
And, yes, that is Sebastian Shaw kicking ass on the cover? Another stellar tie-in to the AvX series, we cannot stress how under-rated the entire run of AVENGERS ACADEMY has been, so these tie-ins are a great opportunity to give the book a try.

IT’S TIME AGAIN THIS WEDNESDAY AT THIRD EYE…. ADVENTURE TIME! AS ADVENTURE TIME #4 HITS THE SHELVES, AND CONTINUES THE AWESOMENESS THAT IS BOOM!’s NEW ADVENTURE TIME SERIES
Dude, this issue of ADVENTURE TIME is rocking a total of four covers, how crazy is that? But, we get it: the pure epic win of ADVENTURE TIME cannot be contained to just one cover.
Judging from the sheer craziness and popularity of ADVENTURE TIME, you don’t need me to tell you how fantastic the series is, or how great of a job BOOM! has been doing with these books, so I won’t keep rambling here, but I will say this..
For those of you who’ve been itching to get into ADVENTURE TIME from BOOM!, we’ve got plenty of issues 1, 2, and 3 in stock now to catch you up to this week’s ADVENTURE TIME #4.

STAFF PICKS
STEVE: HIGHER EARTH #1 - OK, I’m a bit biased ’cause I freakin’ love the art on the Third Eye variant, but seriously: THIS KICKED ASSS. Give this one a shot, Third Eye Faithful!
TRISH:  - BATMAN #9 - !!! this book is so good it’s not even funny. Cliffhangers galore!
TORMA:  HULK SMASH AVENGERS #2 - 5 issues of the Hulk destroying every decade of Avengers teams? How can I not love this?

SHAUN: TAKIO #1  -  Bendis and Oeming take on an all-ages superhero comic? BOOM! I’m a huge fan of POWERS, and this has a lot of charming, zany moments that should appeal to fans of everything from AVENGERS to MICE TEMPLAR.
RYAN: UNCANNY X-FORCE #25 - The best arc to start since DARK ANGEL SAGA.
