This Week's Highlights at Third Eye Comics for Wednesday 7/11/12

WALKING DEAD #100 — Whether you read in trades, singles, or compendiums.. you MUST have this issue!
WALKING DEAD hits the landmark issue of #100, and, folks, for so many different reasons: you must own this comic. I mean, lets be honest: it’s WALKING DEAD, and it’s probably the single-most important issue in the entire run.
That right there alone is reason enough to make sure to have this piece of comic book history. But, there’s so much more to it than just that… this issue, as many of you are anticipating, marks a very interesting new era for WALKING DEAD.
I am going to refrain from talking too much about WHAT issue #100 is about, because c’mon: spoilers are no fun with WALKING DEAD. All I can say is this: it’s amazing.
Now, in terms of sheer importance to the medium, this issue means a great deal. This is the single-most anticipated comic in nearly two decades. And, it’s a creator-owned book, which really shows how different the industry is now versus how it was two or three decades ago.
With the collectible nature of WALKING DEAD anything, and with issue #100 having a total of 9 covers, then you know that this is a MUST-HAVE. We’re not sure which of the covers will end up being the most popular, because they’re all pretty great, but, we’d recommend making sure to grab your favorites right away to make sure you get the one you want.
We’ll also have plenty of the very limited Chromium WALKING DEAD #100 edition, which is a special premiere edition of the comic, available for only $9.99. These will only be available in limited quantities though, so make sure to have us reserve you one, or snag it quick this week at Third Eye.
Reading WALKING DEAD in trade, and not signals? Folks, trust me: you are going to want to have issue #100. It’s a piece of WALKING DEAD history, and even if you don’t normally collect the single issues, this landmark special is one you will want to have in your collection.
As far as those of you who have yet to jump into WALKING DEAD, folks, trust me: you need to get into this series. If you’ve watched the show, and loved it, then you will be blown away by the comics. The show is great, but hot damn, the comics are amazing. Trust us, you will be impressed.
Make sure to join us this Tuesday night for a special MIDNIGHT RELEASE of WALKING DEAD #100, where you can win a poster signed by WALKING DEAD creator ROBERT KIRKMAN, as well as take part in a special one-night only sale on IMAGE comics and graphic novels!
Wanna get started with WALKING DEAD? We’ve got the series available in several graphic novel formats to start you at the very beginning, just pop in, and ask us about the differences between the regular trade paperbacks, the compendium, and the hardcovers.

THE NIGHT OF OWLS COMES TO IT’S SHOCKING CONCLUSION WITH THIS WEEK’S BATMAN #11 — AFTER THE INSANE REVELATIONS OF BATMAN #10, YOU KNOW THIS ONE IS A BIG DEAL!
Holy crap, how crazy was the ending to BATMAN #10? I mean, if there’s anything that proves that this is THE Batman run of this generation, then that has gotta be it.
Seriously though, SCOTT SNYDER and GREG CAPULLO are KILLING IT on BATMAN, folks. Not only is this our favorite DC NEW 52, it’s our favorite monthly superhero book. Heck, even if you’re not a DCU fan, and just dig some BATMAN here and there, then you should be reading this. It’s THAT amazing.
With the NIGHT OF THE OWLS coming to it’s conclusion, things are getting crazier, and crazier. The shocking revelation that’s literally changed everything we know about the DARK KNIGHT and then some in BATMAN #10 has set the stage for one of the most epic battles in Snyder/Capullo’s run yet.
And, now, in issue #11, THE NIGHT OF THE OWLS comes to it’s crushing conclusion, ready to pave the way for the upcoming JOKER arc that’s kicking off in Fall.
What is THE NIGHT OF THE OWLS? It all started in BATMAN #1, when the NEW 52 launched, a story arc called COURT OF OWLS, introduced the concept of a secret society that had been rotting Gotham from the inside out for hundreds of years. And, Batman, well, it shook him up, cause lets face it, he doesn’t like not having control of his city.
After an epic battle between BATMAN and the Court’s hit-man, TALON, it looked like all was solved.. but, then the Court lashed out, and unleashed hundreds of sleeper agent Talons unto Gotham City to wreak havoc, and show Batman just who controls Gotham.
From there, we have seen one of the best DC arcs in a long time, I’d compare it to THE SINESTRO CORPS WARS in terms of it’s importance to the future of DCU, and the things it has set up.
Now, as we near the conclusion of the NIGHT OF THE OWLS, we cannot wait to see what will be going down in it’s wake.
Folks, if you’re not reading BATMAN yet.. trust us: GET ON BOARD. You will be so stoked about this book, the art, the story, everything, it’s amazing.
We’ve got issues 1-10 of BATMAN in stock and available now to get you up to speed on the series.

AVENGERS VS X-MEN: VERSUS #4 — DAREDEVIL VS. PSYLOCKE. THOR VS. EMMA FROST? HELLS YES, ANOTHER EPIC THROWDOWN IN VERSUS!
AVENGERS VS. X-MEN continues to be one of the most exciting, and compelling things we’re reading this Summer, and it’s companion series, VERSUS, has us hooked in every way possible.
We’re loving the directions that AVX has been taking, and VERSUS, which takes place in between the issues of AVENGERS VS X-MEN, does a great job of fleshing out the storyline that doesn’t make it’s way into the main book.
What is VERSUS? At it’s core, this IS the FIGHT book. Literally, each issue demonstrates the knock-down, drag-out slobber knocker battles of the AVENGERS and the X-MEN, and elaborates on the epic battles that may only get two or three panels in the main series.
Featuring the talents of all-star creators, each issue of VERSUS has delivered one hell of a read, as not only are you getting a massive full-length story that details the fight between the characters, but you’re also getting clear-cut decisions on who won, who lost, and why.
This week, RICK REMENDER (writer of UNCANNY X-FORCE) and artist BRANDON PETERSON are doing it big, with two major fights. The first is between two major fan-favorites in DAREDEVIL and PSYLOCKE, and we’re pretty excited to see how that one plays out, and then the main event, is THOR vs. EMMA FROST… featuring her newfound PHOENIX powers.
In other words: Thor vs. PhoenixFrost, and you know that’s going to be INSANE.
Wanna get caught up on AVX: VERSUS? We’ve got issues 1-3 in stock and available now to catch you up to this week’s #4.

ADVENTURE TIME: MARCELINE AND THE SCREAM QUEENS #1 DEBUTS THIS WEDNESDAY
You guys know we love ADVENTURE TIME here at Third Eye, and when we saw BOOM! was going to be launching a stellar companion series to their ADVENTURE TIME ongoing with MARCELINE as it’s star? Well, we flipped our wigs, that’s how freakin’ stoked we were to find this out.
Just like their ongoing ADVENTURE TIME series, MARCELINE AND THE SCREAM QUEENS does a PERFECT job of capturing the humor, and awesomeness of ADVENTURE TIME in comic book form.
Plus, it’s staring Marceline and her band, and I mean, cartoon bands? They are always awesome, no matter what.

BEFORE WATCHMEN: MINUTEMEN #2 — THE SECOND ISSUE OF THE FLAGSHIP WATCHMEN TITLE ARRIVES THIS WEDNESDAY
BEFORE WATCHMEN has really turned out to be one of the best things of the Summer, with the highest quality of creative teams you could consider involved, and a full line-up of series that have ALL delivered hits.
The first issue of MINUTEMEN was off-the-chain awesome, and we loved every second of it. Darwyn Cooke’s story and art were both on point in a big way, and he did a fantastic job of capturing the essence of these characters and their golden age.
As the universe of WATCHMEN continues to be expanded upon in these prequels, we’re absolutely loving the direction that DC is taking. Totally respectful of the original work, while introducing something new and innovative to the history of the WATCHMEN.
Wanna get up to speed on these? We’ve got BEFORE WATCHMEN MINUTEMEN, SILK SPECTRE, OZYMANDIAS, COMEDIAN and NITE-OWL #1 in stock now to get you up to speed.

VALIANT RELAUNCH: BLOODSHOT #1 DEBUTS THIS WEDNESDAY AND CONTINUES THE AWESOMENESS OF THE NEW VALIANT LINE!
This may be my most anticipated of the new VALIANT books, as it’s the one I remember most from back during the original VALIANT heyday. Plus, with the incredible track record VALIANT has so far from both the new X-O MANOWAR and the new HARBINGER series, we can’t wait to see what they do with BLOODSHOT.
Just like HARBINGER and X-O MANOWAR, BLOODSHOT is a fresh, new series that you can jump onto without any prior knowledge of the original, and this first issue begins with a bang, as we’re introduced to a man who’s not quite sure… who he is.
Is he Angelo Mortalli? The man who has a brother trapped behind enemy lines and on the verge of… ? Is he Raymond Garrison? The retired fighter who finds himself plunged back into vicious firefights at the desperate pleas of his friends? No… he’s BLOODSHOT, and that’s all.
A shade of gray that freedom requires. The perfect confluence of military necessity and cutting-edge technology. A walking WikiLeaks that is a powder keg of dirty secrets waiting to explode. But now, Bloodshot has been captured, and we’re about to find out once and for all what’s more deadly: BLOODSHOT or what’s inside Bloodshot’s head?
Every mission is a suicide mission, and even death won’t stop his tour of duty.
Folks, get ready for BLOODSHOT, it’s going to rule!
Wanna get caught up on the new VALIANT titles? We’ve also got X-O MANOWAR 1 & 2 in stock, and HARBINGER #1, to get you up to date on some of the best new, cutting-edge superhero books on the stands.
What is VALIANT? Valiant was a publisher back in the day that introduced innovative new approaches to telling stories about super-powered characters, and now, they have returned, and are doing it all over again. The new VALIANT stuff is amazing, with a level of quality and detail that’s incredible, and the kind of cutting-edge innovation that we’ve seen in books like MANHATTEN PROJECTS, INVINCIBLE, and SAGA.
Get on board, and find out why we’re raving about the new VALIANT stuff!

REVIVAL #1 — Folks: get ready for the next smash IMAGE hit, HACK/SLASH creator TIM SEELEY has a real masterpiece in the making here with REVIVAL! DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS BOOK!
Also, the THIRD EYE COMICS variant of REVIVAL #1 is still available in limited quantities!
Folks, there’s a certain kind of electricity that normally surrounds an IMAGE title that looks like it’s going to make a splash, and REVIVAL, I can say, officially “has it.” This book is going to be HUGE, and the buzz we’ve been seeing on it is very much in tune with the buzz that MORNING GLORIES, CHEW, and SAGA all received upon their debut.
But, beyond the speculation, REVIVAL is a legitimately AWESOME read. This is a great book, with fantastic artwork, and a stellar story. Tim Seeley, creator of HACK/SLASH is joined by the incredibly talented Mike Norton, to tell a story of Midwestern horror with a new school edge. But, much like CHEW, or MORNING GLORIES, this is not just a straight-forward horror story.. this is a deep, layered tale, with everything from elements of drama, science fiction, and crime procedurals sprinkled within.
The artwork is stunning, Norton does an excellent job of bringing a sense of style and immersion to the world of REVIVAL that really gives the book that extra kick that makes it feel like it’s own fully-realized thing.
Seeley’s storytelling is on point as well, and while we’re mega-fans of HACK/SLASH, we gotta say, he’s taking things to a whole new level with REVIVAL. Really well put together, really well thought out, the whole thing really comes together nicely.
What’s it about? Well, a lot of the punch in this first issue is in the surprises, so I’m going to try to avoid dropping spoilers.
Revival is a self-described ‘farm noir’, which takes us as the readers to the middle of a small Wisconsin town, and introduces some seriously bizarre… and supernatural problems.
The book throws you right into a scenario where, for one day, the dead have come back to life. And, Officer Dana Cypress, must deal with the media scrutiny, religious zealots, and government quarantine that has come with them. In a town where the living have to learn to deal with those who are supposed to be dead, Officer Cypress must solve a brutal murder, and everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect.
This book effortlessly combines many of our favorite genres, while packing enough surprises to keep things very interesting.
Folks, don’t miss out on what we guarantee will be your next favorite IMAGE title: REVIVAL is the bomb.

THE CROW RETURNS IN A BRAND NEW SERIES WITH THE CROW #1 THIS WEDNESDAY
IDW brings the return of one of comics most iconic characters with it’s brand new CROW ongoing series, and folks, trust us: you are going to want to read this one. It’s probably the best incarnation of THE CROW that we have seen since the glory days of the character, and totally surpasses all the sequels and one-shots that followed in The Crow’s wake.
In issue #1, the first arc, DEATH AND REBIRTH, begins, as THE CROW is reborn — in TOKYO. Can a dark spirit fight for the light? The Crow has always done just that — a shadow that strikes from the shadows themselves.
Now, the spirit of The Crow is back, transfiguring Jamie Osterberg, an American studying in Tokyo and deeply in love with his girlfriend, Yumi.. until the love of his life is stolen.
Now, the Crow must once more make the wrong thing right — but this time he might have to do it by killing his very own true love.
Both in artwork, and in storytelling, this book captures the essence of the original CROW comics perfectly, with a very dark, urban gothic noir tone that fits the book perfectly.
I highly recommend snagging issue #1, whether you’re a fan of the original comics, or just a fan of the Brandon Lee film, we think you’ll be pretty stoked with how it turned out.

THIS WEDNESDAY, FRANK CATLE GOES WHERE NO VIGILANTE HAS GONE BEFORE IN…
SPACE PUNISHER #1
You know, this sounds so ridiculous… that I think it’s going to be awesome. The Punisher finds himself in the oddest places, and the total over-the-top Direct-To-Video kind of madness that we’re expecting to see in SPACE PUNISHER has us pretty damn pumped for this one.
In the grand tradition of JASON X, LEPRECHAUN IN SPACE, and HELLRAISER: BLOODLINE, Frank Castle is getting ready to unleash his bloodlust in the place where no one can hear you scream.
And, after glancing through this one, we gotta say: it’s a blast. Don’t go in expecting the depth, and complexity of Garth Ennis’s PUNISHER MAX, but if you want something that’s bigger-than-life, and totally fun… with lots of anti-gravity ultra-violence? Space Punisher fits the bill.

VERTIGO UNLEASHES A KILLER NEW SERIES FROM “JOE THE BARBARIAN” artist SEAN MURPHY THIS WEDNESDAY WITH
PUNK ROCK JESUS #1!
Here’s one that we’ve been super-excited for since we first saw it announced, for a number of reasons. First of all, we love Sean Murphy’s art, he’s amazing, and if you haven’t gotten turned onto him yet, I highly recommend picking up PUNK ROCK JESUS this Wednesday and finding out why we’re so high on his work. The next reason we’re pumped is because the concept behind this one sounds pretty damn awesome, and we cannot wait to see where they’re going with it.
What’s PUNK ROCK JESUS all about? This is the kind of ground-breaking, innovative and exciting creator-owned book that VERTIGO was known for back in the day of TRANSMETROPOLITAN, Y THE LAST MAN, and more. And, it’s nice to see them stepping back up to the plate with this one, and showing a return to form.
In Punk Rock Jesus, the newest reality show hit has the unlikeliest celebrity of all.. a clone of Jesus. And, well, this new REALITY SHOW, known as J2, has caused chaos across a near-future United States, whether it’s outrage or adulation, people are going insane.
Religious zealots either love or hate the show, angry politicians worry about its influence on the nation, and members of the scientific community fear the implications of cloning a human being at all — let alone the Son of God. And what effect will this all have on Gwen, the young woman who is selected, through an American Idol-style process, to be the mother of the new Messiah?
All this leads to the hiring of Thomas mcKael, the clone’s bodyguard and a former IRA operative with a turbulent past who must protect the new Messiah — a baby who captivates the world, but grows up to become an angry teenager.
Fresh, unique, and fascinating, this is a must-read, Third Eye Faithful, make sure you snag a copy this Wednesday, and find out why it’s one of our most anticipated books of the Summer.

SPIDER-MEN #3– The monumental crossover between AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN continues this Wednesday
We’ve been singing the praises of both Brian Michael Bendis’s new ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN run and Dan Slott’s recent AMAZING SPIDER-MAN run for a while now, so when we saw the two would be crossing paths, well heck, we knew there was going to be something special brewing here.
So far, the first two issues have been stunning, with Bendis and Pichelli bringing their A+ game, and telling a dynamic story that really highlights the strengths and weaknesses of both Miles Morales and Peter Parker as a dynamic is established between the two.
Wanna get caught up on this one? We’ve got issues 1 & 2 in stock now to catch you up to this week’s #3.

BLAIR BUTLER & KEVIN MELLON’S “HEART” HITS THIRD EYE IN TRADE PAPERBACK THIS WEDNESDAY
One of our favorite IMAGE series from 2011 was, by far, HEART, from G4TV ATTACK OF THE SHOW’S Blair Butler and LOVESTRUCK artist KEVIN MELLON.
This kick-ass four-part mini-series brought something fresh, unique, and compelling to the world of comics that we don’t see nearly enough of, and folks, if you didn’t catch it in singles the first go around, please make sure you scoop a copy of the trade and find out why we’re all over this one.
Focusing on the world of Mixed Martial Arts, HEART follows the rise of cage fighter Oren ‘Rooster’ Redmond in this gritty tale of self-discovery. Packed with flying knees, crazy submissions, and a whole lotta dudes getting punched in the face and/or choked out, HEART is non-stop, bad-assery from start to finish.
The coolest aspect about the story is the unique feel it has, in that it reminds me of a mix of Fight Club or Office Space and Goodfellas. Sounds weird, right? I know, but, when you watch as Oren idolizes his brother and his crew, and then ends up falling into their lifestyle… there’s a strong Goodfellas kind of vibe going on. Pair that up with the post-modern malaise that Oren feels about his office drone existence, and the desire to escape that by beating in faces… and, well, you’ve got yourself one hell of an interesting comic.
Kevin Mellon’s art pops all the way through, bringing a visceral, and in-your-face sense of action and pacing to the book, and Blair Butler’s storytelling is sharp, with dialogue that rings true in the story, and pulls you further in the whole way through.
Snag yourself a copy of the HEART TPB this Wednesday!

ENORMOUS ONE-SHOT DELIVERS THE ULTIMATE IN GIANT KAIJU MONSTER AWESOMENESS THIS WEDNESDAY! EVEN THE SIZE OF THE BOOK IS KAIJU-SIZED!
DUDE! This comic looks RIDICULOUS! I’m so stoked, I mean, lets be real: we love giant monsters here at Third Eye, and as kaiju-fanatics, we have an appreciation for anything that pays the appropriate tribute to everything from Godzilla to King Ghidorah and beyond, ya know?
This is why ENORMOUS is totally at the top of our TO-READ pile this week, and folks, it needs to be at the top of your’s as well. AMAZING artwork, a colossal oversized treasury-size format, and a killer story, this one-shot is a MUST.
In ENORMOUS, a cataclysmic ecological event has spawned colossal beasts that overrun human civilization. Cities are reduced to ruins where survivors must scratch out a desperate existence, evading the giant creatures that hunt them.
In the midst of this struggle against annihilation, a young woman who has lost everything, Ellen Grace, braves the rubble-strewn streets to find lost children and bring them to a safe place. However, she soon finds that there is another enemy just as dangerous as the megafauna: other humans.
While the effects of giant forces of nature may be the destruction of civilization, it’s the nature of man that will prove to be the undoing of mankind.
Walking Dead with giant monsters instead of zombies? Dude, how can ya not love it?
Seriously, get this book, folks, it’s going to be a blast!

TRANSFORMERS REGENERATION ONE #81 — IDW BEGINS A BRAND NEW TRANSFORMERS SERIES THAT PICKS UP WHERE THE ORIGINAL MARVEL SERIES LEFT OFF, NUMBERING AND ALL!
Being a kid in the ’80s, there were two comic books that seemed to be EVERYWHERE, and will always hold a fond place in our hearts here at Third Eye: GI JOE A REAL AMERICAN HERO, and THE TRANSFORMERS. Both were Marvel’s long-running comic book expansions upon the popular licenses, and both were fantastic in exploring the world of those characters.
Now, IDW, after years of requests from fans worldwide, will be picking up where the original Marvel Comics TRANSFORMERS series left off.
Take note, this series is not in the regular continuity of the current TRANSFORMERS books, but is set in the same continuity as the Marvel line from way back in the day, and with that series having ended with issue #80, IDW is picking it back up with issue #81.
It’s been nearly two decades since CYBERTRON was restored to its former glory, and finally there is peace. But, after millions of years of bitter civil war, can all ever truly be one? In a conflict this primal, this epic and far-reaching… there are always loose ends.
Now, Transformers all-star Simon Furman will explore just what it means to see the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons at it’s end.. and where everything will go from there.

RICHARD STARK’S PARKER THE SCORE Graphic Novel arrives this Wednesday, bringing us another AMAZING Darwyn Cooke crime noir.
We are huge fans of Darwyn Cooke, and his classy, timeless artwork is really a perfect fit for the amazing crime noir of Richard Stark’s PARKER character.
After wowing the heck out of us with his work on PARKER: THE HUNTER and PARKER: THE OUTFIT, Cooke brings his noir talents to THE SCORE, as he tells a tale of Parker becoming embroiled in a plot with a dozen partners in crime to pull off what might be the ultimate heist — robbing an entire town.
Everything was going fine for a while, and then things got bad.
Considered to be one of the highest in the Parker series, the Score is the best yet in Cooke’s PARKER books, and we highly recommend it to anyone who digs on stuff like CRIMINAL, or 100 BULLETS, or just loves Cooke’s artwork.

PLANETOID #2 — GRIM, GRITTY POST-APOCALYPTIC SCIENCE FICTION AWESOMENESS.. A MUST-READ
The first issue of this new IMAGE series BLEW US AWAY!! Seriously, PLANETOID is KILLER.
Lets start with the obvious: this book is eye-candy and a half. The artwork by Ken Garing is such an integral piece of the package here, bringing a unique, grim sci-fi aesthetic that combines a little bit of MIKE MIGNOLA with a little bit of HR Giger, and just a hint of Moebius… to make one awesome looking comic.
Now, onto the big draw: the concept and the story. The writing on this is sharp, and compelling, and we’re loving every second of it. The first issue opens with a splash, as a former Space Marine, now Space Pirate, crash lands on an unknown planetoid.
The landscape is like something out of a Terminator movie, and the tone of the story is very ALIENS, in terms of the claustrophobic surroundings, and weird science that permeates it.
As we explore the world through the protagonist, we’re shown one of the most bad-ass a characters in sci-fi, with Silas, the Space Pirate, and the book has that very PROPHET-like feel of reading like a video game, as we’re scrolling through the main character’s inventory, and learning the world as he does.
I could rant, and rave about what I liked about this book, but all I’ll say is this: if you haven’t tried PLANETOID yet, snag issue #1 and #2 this Wednesday, and give it a go.

HARBINGER #2 — The VALIANT relaunch continues, as HARBINGER #2 continues the killer new imagining of HARBINGER!
Joshua Dysart, writer of the cult favorite Vertigo series UNKNOWN SOLDIER, has returned with a bang, as he and Valiant bring HARBINGER into the 21st century in a big way.
Speaking from the perspective of someone who didn’t follow the original VALIANT titles super-closely, I came into Harbinger with essentially a blank slate, other than knowing that this was probably the most well-regarded amongst the original VALIANT series for long-time fans.
And, you know what? I’m glad I did come in totally blank, ’cause hot damn: this book was great, and was a fantastic spot to jump on board with, without having extensive prior knowledge of the characters.
The book reminds us a lot of the movie CHRONICLE, and we think that’s a very good thing, ’cause that movie totally kicked ass.
The world of Harbinger is about average teenagers gifted with extraordinary abilities, who find themselves being watched by a sinister corporation who hopes to develop their powers for their own uses.
While the concept has been done in similar themes, Harbinger still does it better than most, and we’re really impressed.
In this week’s issue #2, the hunt for Peter Stancheck intensifies after an epic battle with Pittsburgh S.W.A.T forces him to use his powers out in public. Now, he faces the most difficult decision of his life. Continue to put his friends in harm’s way, or abandon them for the safety of Toyo Harada’s Harbinger Foundation?
A stellar read, folks, with stellar artwork, we give this one a high Third Eye recommendation!

A WARREN CLASSIC RETURNS, JOINING DARK HORSE’S CREEPY ANTHOLOGY, IS THE NEW EERIE COMICS! HORROR COMICS AT THEIR BEST!
We are HUGE fans of the original CREEPY and EERIE horror mags from the ’60s and ’70s, with their pulpy black-and-white horror tales. I mean, these were where many of comics greatest got their starts, ya know? Bernie Wrightson, Richard Corben, and many more cut their teeth on the Warren horror mags, and ya know, I still have all of these that I hunted down as a kid.
Last year’s relaunch of CREEPY has been a blast to follow, and we’ve been really digging where they’ve taken things with that book, and now, we’re stoked to see Dark Horse continuing the tradition with the relaunch of Creepy’s companion mag, EERIE.
These are straight-up classic, grisly horror comics that are very reminiscent of the old EC horror comics, and stay true to the original tone and nature of the old WARREN horror comics.
With Cousin Eerie returning, we’ve got a whole slew of new sinister sci-fi and fearsome fantasy stories that will leave you hooked.
This first issue features the talents of FERALS writer DAVID LAPHAM, as well as RAGEMOOR artist and horror comics maestro, RICHARD CORBEN.

BRIAN WOOD’S THE MASSIVE #2 ARRIVES THIS WEDNESDAY DELIVERING MORE POST-APOCALYPTIC AWESOMENESS! A MUST-READ!
Man, the first issue of the MASSIVE was freakin’ awesome, wasn’t it? I mean, damn, COMICS, that’s what I’m talking about. Brian Wood’s always been a big favorite here at Third Eye, but, this may end up being our favorite project he’s done since DMZ.
The Massive is a story about a world that’s dead, and the environmental rescue crew who finds themselves without purpose in a world that no longer needs saving.
And, in this week’s issue #2, hidden from the pirates in the ice and fog of the Bering Sea, the crew of the Kapital weight he risk of detection against the need to rescue their missing cremates. Also, we get to find out the details about the events of the crash, including the Kapital’s resupply visit to an underwater Hong Kong and the new city that has, literally, grown out of the debris.
Brian Wood is building a hyper detailed world that’s meshed with the kind of futurist, forward-thinking science fiction we love.
MUST.READ. Do not sleep on this fantastic book!
Missed issue 1? No worries! We’ve still go copies in stock to catch you up to this week’s #2.

LOCKE & KEY VOL.5 CLOCKWORKS HARDCOVER BRINGS THE NEXT INSTALLMENT IN JOE HILL’S AMAZING LOCKE & KEY SERIES
LOCKE & KEY continues to be one of my favorite series of the last few years, and with it’s end nearing, it really feels like we’re going to be coming to the end of an era when this one does finish.
LOCKE & KEY is kind of like this generation’s SANDMAN, in a weird way, and I don’t know what makes me make that comparison, but I get the same kind of immersive, mythological feeling from reading LOCKE & KEY that I did reading SANDMAN.
And, as most of you guys know, many of you follow this series exclusively in the collected editions, be it the hardcovers, or softcovers, so we know many of you are pretty stoked to see: volume 5 will be in-store this Wednesday!
For those of you not already in the know, what’s LOCKE & KEY all about? Locke & Key is the story of Keyhouse, it’s history, and the people who’ve drifted through it. More importantly, it’s about a troubled family who finds themselves venturing to Keyhouse, and a sinister spirit that resides within the bowels of the home.
This unlikely New England mansion is filled with fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them, for better, for worse, and everything in between.
But, there’s a hate-filled, and relentless monster that will not rest until it’s forced open the most terrible door of them all.
Locke & Key is an amazing work of pure horror, it could be one of the best “ghost” stories of ANY medium that we’ve seen in quite a long time. Creepy, suspenseful, and intense, you can’t put this book down once you start reading it.
Snag yourself a copy of LOCKE & KEY VOL.1 this week at Third Eye, and find out for yourself!

BATTLE BEASTS #1 — The cult favorite ’80s toy line returns in a new comic book series from IDW Publishing
I think this is pretty damn cool. This is one of the reasons I love IDW, they just really have a good handle on cult favorite properties and series that have hardcore fan bases, and well, in simple terms: IDW knows what’s cool.
Folks, BATTLE BEASTS are freakin’ cool. I remember these as a kid in the ’80s, and loved the heck out of them. Little 2-inch figures of crazy animal warrior dudes with some kind of emblem on their chest that would change when you rubbed it or put it in the sun, or something ridiculous. I’ll say it again, BATTLE BEASTS are freakin’ cool.
In this new series, it’s just another average day for Bliss, an ignored linguist at the Department of Defense. However, when Bliss unlocks the secret translation of an ancient scroll, terror rains from the sky…in the form of the Battle Beasts! Unstoppable creatures armed to the teeth, the Battle Beasts are determined to make Earth their own personal war zone. Nothing can stop their merciless carnage. Nothing expect perhaps a gentle word from the one woman who can understand them — Bliss!
A total blast from the past, I mean, c’mon, it’s a WALRUS with an axe? What’s not to love?

WILD CHILDREN ONE-SHOT EXPLORES THE HORROR OF VIOLENCE IN SCHOOLS WITH A SUPERNATURAL UNDERTONE, FEATURING THE ARTWORK OF “REBEL BLOOD” & “COWBOY NINJA VIKING” artist RILEY ROSSMO
Another kick-ass one-shot from IMAGE drops this Wednesday in the pages of WILD CHILDREN. Folks, this is a cool book, seriously. Very much in the vein of the controversial WARREN ELLIS Hellblazer story, SHOOT, and the Grant Morrison classic KILL YOUR BOYFRIEND, Wild Children is a tale of guns, acid, cameras, school…. and how everything goes horribly wrong.
The twists in this one are good, so we don’t want to spoiler too much, but trust us Wild Children delivers a fascinating tale of magic, passion, and disinformation. Wild Children: a different type of education.

IMAGE COMICS DEBUTS HOAX HUNTERS THIS WEDNESDAY IN HOAX HUNTERS #1 — A MUST FOR FANS OF X-FILES, FRINGE, AND MORE!
Here’s a pretty rad new one from IMAGE that drops this week at Third Eye, and we’re pretty pumped to see how it turns out.
Hoax Hunters is a must for anyone who’s into cryptozoological mysteries, or conspiracy theories ala X-FILES, as it brings all sorts of weird science coolness to the world of comics.
Fantastic artwork, and some sharp storytelling, think of this as a Myth Busters… but… with the Hoax Hunters usually finding out the truth IS out there.
A rash of mass animal deaths leads the Hoax Hunters to the Louisiana bayou, and what they find is a mystery that harkens to Jack’s past — and a dangerous cryptic bent on revenge.
