This Week's Highlights at third Eye Comics for Wednesday 11/28/12

NOWHERE MEN #1 DEBUTS FROM IMAGE COMICS, WRITTEN BY THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF IMAGE, ERIC STEPHENSON, THE MAN RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING IMAGE WHAT IT IS NOW!
Folks, we are so totally stoked for this book, it's not even funny. Many of you may not be as familiar with the name Eric Stephenson as you are Robert Kirkman, but make no mistake, Third Eye Faithful, Stephenson is the driving factor that's really made them into the publisher they are today. His keen eye for what makes a great comic, and what to put the support of the publisher behind, is one of the things that has made us embrace so many Image projects.
So, when we found out Stephenson was going to be kicking off his own Image project with the new NOWHERE MEN series, we knew it'd be on it's way to being a hit. Anyone who's got the kind of eye to catch fresh, new talent the way that Stephenson does, has to be practically brimming with the kind of raw creative energy that makes for awesome comics.
So, what's this new IMAGE series all about? In the world of NOWHERE MEN, science is the new rock and roll. It's the birth of cool, but instead of jazz and rock n roll, it's science. Four scientists -- Dade Ellis, Simon Grimshaw, Emerson Strange, and Thomas Walker -- are the most renowned thinkers in the world, and four of the most famous people in the world.
They've formed together a "supergroup" company that has a somewhat overly optimistic goal of making the world a better place, and because of that, they're responsible for some incredible things.
Of course, the mistakes they do make are the kind that impact the world in a very serious way.
The exact details about Nowhere Men, and the plot inside, are purposefully being kept close to the vest by Stephenson, and we really think that's the way to play it. In an age when everyone knows everything about anything before the media hits, it's nice to see someone taking us back to that kind of element of surprise and mystery.
All I can tell you, Third Eye Faithful, is that it is FANTASTIC. The artwork by Nate Bellegarde is incredible, and the storytelling is incredible.
Imagine Ziggy Stardust, Hickman's Manhattan Projects, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and X-Files all blended into one slick, suave package that does not disappoint.
Nowhere Men gets our top pick this week alongside LEGEND OF LUTHER STRODE, and we highly recommend snagging a copy and giving it a shot.

LEGEND OF LUTHER STRODE #1 DEBUTS THIS SATURDAY AT OUR LEGEND OF LUTEHR STRODE #1 LAUNCH PARTY WITH CREATORS JUSTIN JORDAN & TRADD MOORE
One of our favorite series returns this week with the LEGEND OF LUTHER STRODE #1 from IMAGE COMICS. We've worked with Justin, Tradd and Image Comics to put together a special early release of our Third Eye variant of issue #1 that will only be available at this weekend's LEGEND OF LUTHER STRODE launch party with Justin & Tradd at Third Eye Annapolis!
This may be my favorite store variant we've done yet, Third Eye Faithful, and we'll have plenty of copies available for you guys at the normal cover price of $2.99ea.
As for the comic itself? It's the second part of the LUTHER STRODE trilogy! And, if you haven't yet read LUTHER STRODE, folks, then you are in for a treat, as this is one of the freshest, most exciting new series to launch in the last few years.
What's it all about? Picture this: Luther's a teenage comic fan who stumbles upon one of those Charles Atlas-style GET RIPPED FAST books. Luther follows the regimen, and quickly develops super-human strength... and other strange attributes, like seeing what people look like underneath their skin.
Luther does what any self-respecting comic fan would do: he makes a costume, and goes out attempting to become a masked vigilante.
But, Luther quickly learns that while he thinks he's being groomed into  a life of public service, he's actually being transformed into a brutal murderer, by a mysterious benefactor who's trained the likes of Genghis Khan, Jack the Ripper, and more.
Now, five years after losing everything, Luther has become more than a nightmare for the evil men in his city... he has become a LEGEND. But somebody is hunting the bogeyman, and he has dangerous allies that Luther will never expect.
Luther Strode lives, but for how long?

UNCANNY AVENGERS #2 -- THE FLAGSHIP TITLE OF THE MARVEL NOW RELAUNCH DELIVERS IT'S SECOND ISSUE THIS WEDNESDAY!
The flagship MARVEL NOW title arrives with it's second issue this Wednesday, and we could not be more pumped. The cliffhanger ending of UNCANNY AVENGERS #1 left us on the edge of our seats, and we're pretty excited to see the follow-up hitting the shelves this week.
What is UNCANNY AVENGERS? In the aftermath of AVENGERS VS. X-MEN, the Avengers and members of the X-Men both agree that there needs to be a more unified front among the heroes, and the two teams are merged into one, with Cyclops's brother, Havok, being cast in the role of leader.
This is the figurehead title of MARVEL NOW, equivalent to DC's own JUSTICE LEAGUE, as all the major plot twists, storyline shifts, and crucial storyline elements of the Marvel Universe as a whole have their roots in UNCANNY AVENGERS.
Featuring the incredible RICK REMENDER (UNCANNY X-FORCE: THE DARK ANGEL SAGA, VENOM, FEAR AGENT) and the legendary JOHN CASSADAY (ASTONISHING X-MEN, PLANETARY), UNCANNY AVENGERS #1 is a Marvel must-read that delivers in every way you can imagine.
Incredible artwork, incredible storytelling, non-stop action with great cliffhangers, and a tone that feels like a modernized version of the '90s X-Men animated series, this book rules.
For those of you who read issue #1, you've been on the edge of your seats after seeing the Red Skull with Professor X's skull splayed open, and his brains in his hand. Now, in issue #2, the Red Skull makes a move that transforms him into the most powerful man on Earth.
And, with anti-mutant sentiment at an all-time high, it will be up to Captain America, Wolverine, Havok, Thor, Rogue, and the Scarlet Witch to take down the Skull.
THIS is why we love Marvel Comics, Third Eye Faithful. Make sure you snag yourself a copy this Wednesday.

BEFORE WATCHMEN: OZYMANDIAS #4 & BEFORE WATCHMEN: SILK SPECTRE #4 -- BEFORE WATCHMEN returns this week with a double-shot of AWESOME! Ozy & Silk Spectre!
BEFORE WATCHMEN returns this Wednesday with TWO of our favorites in the BEFORE WATCHMEN line-up, OZYMANDIAS and SILK SPECTRE.
Both of these books have been firing on all cylinders, much like many of the other BEFORE WATCHMEN titles, and we're personally super excited for them both.
Jae Lee's artwork on OZYMANDIAS has been jaw-dropping, as he fleshes out the back story of one of Watchmen's most interesting characters.
And, Cooke & Conner's SILK SPECTRE is most definitely the sleeper hit of the bunch, as it continues to prove why it's one of our favorites of the BEFORE WATCHMEN line-up.
The Silk Spectre series has been especially kick ass, as it tells the tragic past of the Silk Spectre, and her mother, in context to the world of the WATCHMEN around them. Reading like an dark riff on '50s romance comics, but with a very, very bad vibe running through, SILK SPECTRE is another must-read in the BEFORE WATCHMEN Cannon.
Wanna get caught up on these? We've got copies of both BEFORE WATCHMEN SILK SPECTRE 1-3 and BEFORE WATCHMEN OZYMANDIAS 1-3 in stock and available now to get you current.

BEDLAM #2 -- NICK SPENCER & RILEY ROSSMO'S BEDLAM RETURNS THIS WEDNESDAY! THE BREAKOUT IMAGE HIT OF THE FALL CONTINUES!
If THE JOKER was DEXTER... you'd have BEDLAM!
Also: featuring a PHANTOM cover that pays homage to Brian Bolland's THE KILLING JOKE!
It's no secret that we loved the first issue of BEDLAM by Nick Spencer & Riley Rossmo, Third Eye Faithful. So, to say we're more than just a little excited about this Wednesday's BEDLAM #2, is a bit of an understatement.
This new IMAGE series gives us a VERY dark look at the arch-type of the masked villain, and is one of the freshest, most intriguing spins on the idea that we've seen since books like Matt Wagner's GRENDEL, and Mark Millar's NEMESIS.
The series focuses on MADDER RED, a character that captures the vibe and tone of THE JOKER arch-type perfectly. After a stunning opening, where we see how far Madder Red will go (killing one of his children hostages with a casual nonchalance.), and then are taken into the world of BEDLAM. A post-industrial, once-great city that has fallen into the reign of terror that Madder Red has spread.
Riley Rossmo does an amazing job with the artwork, bringing an eerie, and chaotic feel to the world of Spencer's BEDLAM. The madness that gleams in Red's eyes is apparent in every scene.
We don't want to give away too much of the plot of the first issue, as the ending is a good twist, but we will say this: this story is what happens when the world's sickest, most murderous criminal wakes up and decides: I want to help put others like me in jail.
Imagine THE JOKER acting in the role of Dexter Morgan, and that captures the tone of this one well.. but there's more, more beneath the surface, that hasn't been yet revealed.
Folks, this book is INCREDIBLE. We've got plenty of copies of BEDLAM #1 in stock now to get you up to speed with this week's issue #2.
In addition to the regular cover of BEDLAM #2, we'll also have a very limited quantity of the uber-rare PHANTOM VARIANT of BEDLAM #2 featuring a homage by Rossmo to BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE.

MARVEL NOW: FF #1 DEBUTS A SUPER-WEIRD, SUPER-FUN, SUPER-AWESOME NEW SPIN ON THE FF THIS WEDNESDAY!
WHY DO YOU NEED THIS BOOK, TWO WORDS: MIKE ALLRED!
Folks, we are totally pumped for this oddball little MARVEL NOW title, with FF #1. I know, it may seem a little weird, and a little off the beaten path, but trust us: this is good. Why you may ask? Well, you guys already know our opinion on weird. Weird is good. :)
But seriously, this is awesome, because Marvel's brought in the king of awesome, weird comics, MIKE ALLRED, to handle the art chores on this, and folks, we gotta tell ya: Allred makes this book SING.
Many of you may not remember the X-STATIX title from way back in the day, but I gotta tell you, that was one of my all-time favorites during the early 2000s of Marvel, and it was the last real big project Allred had done with Marvel.
Now, with FF, Allred is bringing his quirky Jack Kirby-charged style to the world of the Marvel U again, and we're loving it.
What's the scoop on this one? Meet the substitute-Fantastic Four, handpicked by the original members. While the regular FF are embarking on an epic journey, this cast of misfits are being left behind in their absence to protect Earth. Featuring ANT-MAN, SHE-HULK, MEDUSA, and MISS THING, the FF is a total blast, Third Eye Faithful, and we highly recommend giving it a shot this Wednesday.

ARROW #1 -- FROM THE SHOW'S CREATORS, AND FEATURING ARTWORK BY GREEN ARROW LEGEND, MIKE GRELL (LONG BOW HUNTERS).
ARROW has really taken us by surprise with how good a take on the DCU it's been doing, 'cause, I mean, lets be honest: the track record of most live-action superhero TV shows isn't great. But, I'll be damned, ARROW is breaking that trend in a major way, and impressing us every step of the way.
This new ongoing series, which expands upon the world of the ARROW TV series, and provides new adventures and stories for the characters, is written by the actual creators behind the television show, and features art by the legendary GREEN ARROW: THE LONG BOW HUNTERS artist MIKE GRELL.
Give this one a peek this Wednesday, Third Eye Faithful!

THOR: GOD OF THUNDER #2 -- The MARVEL NOW breakout hit continues this Wednesday -- do not sleep on this one, Third Eye Faithful! One of the best of the new launch!
Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic's new THOR GOD OF THUNDER series is a freakin' amazing piece of work, Third Eye Faithful. I'm not even a big-time Thor guy, but I was instantly hooked on this book right after reading issue #1, so when I saw we were getting #2 so fast, I'd say that was a call for rejoice.
Throughout the ages, the gods of the Marvel Universe have been vanishing, their mortal worshippers left in chaos. Now, the Mighty Thor follows a trail of blood that threatens to consume his past, present and future selves. The only hope for these ravaged worlds lies with the God of Thunder unraveling the gruesome mystery of the God Butcher.
Folks, issue #1 starts with a Frost Giant's head on a stick. Seriously. And, Thor? We get to see him fighting the God Butcher in the past when he's young, in the present as we know him now, and in the future ,where he looks like Odin.
Best of all: the art is stunning here, Third Eye Faithful. Esad Ribic's interior art matches exactly what you see on that front cover.
Do yourselves a favor, and snag this one, if you haven't already.
We've got issue 1 in stock now to catch you up to Wednesday's #2.

STAR BRIGHT & THE LOOKING GLASS DELIVERS A MODERN SPIN ON CLASSIC FAIRY TALES FROM JONATHAN LUNA, THE CO-CREATOR OF "THE SWORD", "GIRLS" & "ULTRA".
Meet JONATHAN LUNA & GET IT SIGNED AT OUR STAR BRIGHT & THE LOOKING GLASS SIGNING ON JANUARY 5th
Here's one we're really excited about, Third Eye Faithful, and cannot sing the praises of enough. We're huge, huge fans of Jonathan Luna's past works like GIRLS, and THE SWORD, so to see him delivering something new is pretty darn exciting. His art is looking better than ever, and STAR BRIGHT and THE LOOKING GLASS really looks to be an exciting new step into new territory for one half of the creative team behind those Image favorites.
Star Bright and the Looking Glass is a must for fans of books like MOUSE GUARD, FABLES, and STUFF OF LEGEND, as it delivers the kind of modern fantasy awesomeness that we've come to love here at Third Eye.
When Star Bright, a forest maiden, encounters an evil sorceress who steals her beauty, she must embark on a dangerous journey to retrieve it.
This is a freakin' gorgeous book, Third Eye Faithful, and is the perfect thing to have waiting under the tree for that comic fan in your life.

MASKS #1 CROSSES THE PATHS OF THE SHADOW, THE GREEN HORNET, KATO, THE SPIDER AND MORE IN A STORY OF PULPY, EPIC PROPORTIONS!
Featuring interior art by comics legend ALEX ROSS (KINGDOM COME, MARVELS, JUSTICE)
Folks, we've always dug what Dynamite has done with their revivals of the various pulp characters, and this new series, MASKS, looks to be a fun little crossover between all the biggies: THE SHADOW, THE GREEN HORNET, THE SPIDER, and more.
It's the year 1938, and the Justice Party has swept into office in New York State. But the newly-elected officials are in the control of powerful criminals, who quickly corrupt the law to their own advantage. When a fascist police state is instituted, the only ones who stand in defense of the innocent are masked vigilantes like the SHADOW, the GREEN HORNET, KATO, and the Spider.
As the confrontation builds, more masked heroes are called to join, including MISS FURY, THE BLACK TERROR, THE GREEN LAMA and more.
Now, here's the main pitch on this one: it's got interior art by ALEX ROSS. Yeah, THAT right there is enough to sell me on the book. This is the man who gave us legendary works like KINGDOM COME and MARVELS.
That's all I needed to know, and I was sold. Ross has still got it too!

We're not gonna lie: we just love Dinobots, and any excuse to get to read about their adventures is good enough for us. :)

TALON #2 -- THE RED HOT NEW SERIES FROM SCOTT SNYDER (BATMAN COURT OF OWLS / DEATH OF THE FAMILY) CONTINUES TO IMPRESS
The new TALON series from SCOTT SNYDER and JAMES T. TYNION IV has us hooked in a major way.
Following the story of Calvin Rose, the only Talon to escape from the Court of Owls, TALON is a freakin' amazing read which gives us an excuse to further explore Snyder's compelling Court of Owls world.
Guillem March's art on this looks freakin' incredible, and does a great job of capturing the story that Snyder & Tynion are telling here.
In this week's issue #2, we're shown just what is the TOMB OF THE UNWORTHY, and how might the surviving members of the Court of Owls use it to destroy Calvin Rose once and for all?
And, in the process, an assassin even more dangerous than the Talon Prime is introduced.

A PLUS X #2 -- One of the sleeper hits of the MARVEL NOW, A PLUS X delivers THE best riff on the MARVEL TEAM-UP concept we've ever seen!
Man, we really dug the first issue of A PLUS X, and totally are keen on what Marvel's trying to do with this new series. A fantastic riff on MARVEL TEAM-UP, where they're taking all-star creators and pairing them up to do cool one-shot team-up stories with characters they're known for defining at one point or another.
This week's issue #2 keeps the awesome going, as it delivers a freakin' KILLER team-up between SPIDER-MAN and the BEAST fighting ZOMBIES. And, you know who does the art? Kaare freakin' Andrews! If you've read SPIDER-MAN: REIGN, then you know why we're excited about this.
PLUS: we're also getting an IRON MAN & KITTY PRYDE team-up, as PETER DAVID (X-Factor) delivers a killer story of them laying waste to the Brood.

THE BOYS TP VOL.12 BLOODY DOORS OFF -- THE FINAL VOLUME OF THE BOYS ARRIVES THIS WEDNESDAY, FINISHING OFF ONE OF THIRD EYE'S FAVORITE SERIES OF THE 2000s.
This is it, Third Eye Faithful. We know many of you have followed this series exclusively in trade paperback, so we figured it would only be fitting to give it a proper write-up on it's final volume.
And, damn, what an ending this one has. I gotta tell you: Garth Ennis knows how to do it, Third Eye Faithful. He's that good.
In the world of THE BOYS, superheroes are totally corrupt. Power-hungry, and self-absorbed, and worshipped like gods.
But, Butcher, and his group of secret operatives, all of whom who've seen their lives destroyed by the Capes, have made it their life's mission to bring pain and misery down upon the Capes.
But, there's more to Butcher than meets the eye, and that's the real saga of THE BOYS.
In volume 12, the war is over, and the world is saved. The supes have been beaten down so far they'll never get up again. So why would anyone want one hundred and eighteen metric tons of the only substance on earth that can kill them all stone dead ? Bad days start coming thick and fast, as the Boys are caught in the last throes of the battle they were recruited to fight so long ago. Hughie, all on his own and out of luck findshi mself walking down one last bloody trail -- and the truth he finds waiting for him at the end of it will be nothing short of shattering.
Billy Butcher's vengeance comes full circle, in this twelfth and final entry in the story of the Boys.
Third Eye Faithful, if you've never read it before, we cannot praise the series enough. GET THIS BOOK.
Written by the insanely talented GARTH ENNIS (PREACHER, PUNISHER MAX) and illustrated by DARICK ROBERTSON (TRANSMETROPOLITAN, HAPPY!), THE BOYS is a MUST-READ.

TOWER CHRONICLES #2 HITS THIS WEDNESDAY, DELIVERING THE SECOND ISSUE OF THE FIRST SERIES FROM LEGENDARY COMICS (the new comics line from LEGENDARY FILMS, producers of THE DARK KNIGHT, INCEPTION and more)
We were totally wowed by the first issue of LEGENDARY COMICS's debut series, THE TOWER CHRONICLES, and are totally stoked to see what's coming up next with the book.
Simon Bisley's artwork has never looked better, as he brings a grotesque, and horrifying look to the demons and monsters that inhabit the world of TOWER CHRONICLES. And Matt Wagner's storytelling is sharp as hell, channeling the same kind of energy he brought to MAGE: THE HERO DEFINED and DISCOVERED back in the day.
Plus: the production values are top notch, with thick cardstock covers, glossy quality paperstock pages, and a prestigious format that makes this feel almost more like a graphic novel than a monthly series. This is no surprise though, as LEGENDARY, is an off-shoot of the production company responsible for bringing us prestigious films like THE DARK KNIGHT and INCEPTION.
Meet John Tower, a supernatural bounty hunter who tracks down the horrifying nightmares that plague our unsuspecting world. Following the close of the 'Piranha Killer' affair, we find Tower reluctantly enduring the assistance of FBI agent Alicia Hardwicke, whose cynicism quickly dissipates once she witnesses his terrifying ordeals.
Now, united in Tower's quest, they travel the globe together and into the darkest recesses of mankind's most dangerous places to vanquish a multitude of demonic manifestations and unfathomable evils -- all to free his torubled patrons form their tormentors' unearthly grasp.
Highly recommended, Third Eye Faithful, give it a shot this Wednesday.

WITCH DOCTOR: MAL PRACTICE #1 -- IMAGINE HOUSE meets LOVECRAFT in this killer IMAGE series.
We were huge fans of last year's WITCH DOCTOR mini-series from IMAGE COMICS, and Robert Kirkman's SKYBOUND imprint, so when we saw it was returning with a brand new limited series follow-up, we weren't surprised. Why? 'Cause the first one was TOO DAMN GOOD to be the only one!
Even the world's leading expert in supernatural disease needs to unwind sometimes. But, when Dr. Morrow wakes up with no memory of what -- and who -- he did last night, is it just a case of partying too hard or.. something more malignant?
The world of WITCH DOCTOR is one where supernatural ailments are treated with the clinical precision of real-deal modern medical science. Low spiritual immune systems open folks up to multiple demonic possessions. Lovecraftian gods prey on deficiencies of the brain. Voodoo changes the make-up of one's body.
And, it's Dr. Morrow, the Witch Doctor, who must use his medical and supernatural know-how to cure these things.
Wanna check out the first WITCH DOCTOR series? We'll have plenty of copies of the first trade paperback available this week to get you current for MAL PRACTICE!

ALL NEW X-MEN #2 -- THE FLAGSHIP X-TITLE OF MARVEL NOW CONTINUES THIS WEDNESDAY
ALL NEW X-MEN really blew us away, as we saw Bendis bringing a fresh, recharged take to Marvel's merry mutants, and in the process, breathing exciting new life into the X-Titles.
In the aftermath of AVENGERS VS. X-MEN, and AVX: CONSEQUENCES, ALL NEW X-MEN shows us Beast bringing the original X-Men back into the present day from the past. And they're horrified by what they see. The future of the Marvel Universe, our present, is very similar to what we as fans once saw with DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, and these young, inexperienced versions of CYCLOPS, ICEMAN, THE BEAST, ANGEL and JEAN GREY do not like what they see.
We loved the way they ended issue #1, and the artwork courtesy of Stuart Immonen looks incredible.
Serving as the flagship X-TITLE of the MARVEL NOW relaunch, we're pretty pumped to see what direction Bendis & Immonen will be taking the series.

MULTIPLE WARHEADS: ALPHABET TO INFINITY #2 -- BRANDON GRAHAM'S INCREDIBLE, MIND-BENDING EPIC CONTINUES THIS WEDNESDAY
Folks, by now, from our high praise of books like KING CITY and PROPHET, you can probably tell: we're pretty big fans of BRANDON GRAHAM's work.
So, to get all new, monthly material from the man, is a pretty big deal.
Sexica and her Werewolf boyfriend travel in a bizarre, sci-fi/fantasy charged version of future Russia in the world of MULTIPLE WARHEADS, and on their way to the Whaling wall, they find themselves running into some major trouble.
Meanwhile, Nura keeps running into different versions of the man she was sent to kill.
This is definitely the kind of series where you've gotta look at the art in person to get the full effect, but seriously, Third Eye Faithful, pick up #1 and give it a look if you're into stuff like ORC STAIN, PROPHET, KING CITY, SCOTT PILGRIM, the artist MOEBIUS, etc. You'll really dig what you see.
